L-trans-pyrrolidine-2,4-dicarboxylate (PDC) is a potent inhibitor of glutamate transporters. In our current study, we investigated whether the neuronal death induced by PDC involves mechanisms other than excitotoxicity in mixed mouse cortical cultures. Cortical cultures at 13-14 days in vitro were used and cell death was assessed by measuring the lactate dehydrogenase efflux into bathing media. Glutamate and PDC both induced neuronal death in a concentration-dependent manner but the neurotoxic effects of glutamate were found to be more potent than those of PDC. Treatment with 10, 100 and 200 ${\mu}$M PDC equally potentiated 50 ${\mu}$M glutamate-induced neuronal death. The neuronal death induced by 75 ${\mu}$M glutamate was almost abolished by treatment with the NMDA antagonists, MK-801 and AP-5, but was unaffected by NBQX (an AMPA antagonist), trolox (antioxidant), BDNF or ZVAD-FMK (a pan-caspase inhibitor). However, the neuronal death induced by 200 ${\mu}$M PDC was partially but significantly attenuated by single treatments with MK-801, AP-5, trolox, BDNF or ZVAD-FMK but not NBQX. Combined treatments with MK-801 plus trolox, MK-801 plus ZVAD-FMK or MK-801 plus BDNF almost abolished neuronal death, whereas combined treatments with trolox plus ZVADFMK, trolox plus BDNF or ZVAD-FMK plus BDNF did not enhance the inhibitory action of any single treatment with these drugs. These results demonstrate that the neuronal death induced by PDC involves not only in the excitotoxicity induced by the accumulation of glutamate but also the oxidative stress induced by free radical generation. This suggests that apoptotic neuronal death plays a role in PDCinduced oxidative neuronal injury.

The aim of this paper is to examine relationship characteristics and the relevance there of in the context of the Chanel collection, between the contemporary fashion show viewed from the artistic side and intermedia on interaction. This study analyzed the relationship characteristics between intermedia and fashion shows by focusing on Chanel fashion shows from 2010 S/S to 2016 F/W as actual case. The results are as follow: First, participational accessibility indicates the experience of a designer and audience in active participation changing into passive participation. Second, audience immersion is represented by the perception of being involved by the audience in the place and acting. Third, conceptual symbolism is sending of messages through the designer's concept manifesting in the specific features of the design. Finally, expandability of media explains trans-boundaries in experimental attempts. It concludes that fashion show is a space where the audience can have visual as well as new knowledge and experience through multi-sensory channels. The Chanel collection which is considered a huge art project at the fashion show, showed a relationship between philosophy and the direction through season concepts and brands. The Chanel collection has brought a new experience through the convergence of communications and cultural media, such as music and art according to traditional brand image.

Media audiences are defined in a complex relationship with a comprehensive media environment, and are structured and reconstructed according to changes in the media environment. Today, with the changes in the media environment represented by convergence and transmedia, discussions on audiences are actively developing, and debates between positive and negative views on the cultural and political characteristics continue. This paper aims to systematically examine the complexity and ambivalence of new audiences beyond the binomial confrontational debate, and to understand the conditions and mechanisms under which the progressive possibility can be actualized. First, it looks at the changes in today's media environment and contents, and examines the changing patterns of audiences in connection with them based on related research. In addition, it examines the debate on the cultural and political characteristics of new audiences, and explores ways to construct /reconstruct alternative audiences based on Jacques Ranciere's discussion. In conclusion, the characteristics and contents of the utopian and dystopian moments of the transmedia audience were examined, and the necessary works for realizing the former were identified.

A transboundary environmental problem refers to an environmental problem that goes beyond a country's territory and damages neighboring countries. It is a difficult problem because, basically, it is a natural, rather than intentional, effect, and it is extremely hard to make a scientific consensus on the cause-effect relations between upstream and downstream nations. Air pollution, especially PM 2.5 and PM 10, is one of the typical cases of transboundary environmental problems in the Northeast Asia. This paper analyzes the constraints of environmental cooperation between China and South Korea to address transboundary air pollution issue. It argues that lack of trust and ideological hostility, rather than, scientific uncertainty, is the biggest obstacle for effective cooperation, and these hostile discourses and ideas are mostly generated by media in the downstream nation, the South Korea. In order to identify how South Korean media frames this issue, this paper searched newspaper articles in the six representative South Korean newspapers during the period of 2014 and 2020, and analyzed about 2,000 articles selected. It finds that South Korean media has framed the transboundary air pollution as a China bashing and related domestic political cleavage issue, while it neglects to show the cooperation attempts that the two countries have made to date. Also, while the media focuses on China hate frame, it has never reported the Chinese government's domestic policies to reduce air pollution and their results. Media's overuse of hate and blame frames not only has disrupted trust building but also it will delay a possible turning point of environmental cooperation between the two countries in the future.

This study was designed to determine whether or not Vibrio vulnificus metalloprotease VvpE can promote iron uptake via the proteolytic cleavage of human hemoglobin. We found that V. vulnificus utilized hemoglobin as an iron source more efficiently via the vulnibactin-mediated iron-uptake system than via the HupA-mediated iron-uptake system and, of the proteases produced by V. vulnificus, VvpE was found to be the only protease capable of destroying hemoglobin. However, VvpE expression, on both the transcriptional and protein levels, was suppressed in iron-limited media. However, vvpE transcription, but not extracellular VvpE production, was reactivated by the addition of hemoglobin or inorganic iron into iron-limited media. Moreover, vvpE transcription began only in the late growth phase when V. vulnificus had already consumed most of the iron for growth. In addition, neither vvpE mutation nor in trans vvpE complementation affected the ability of V. vulnificus to acquire iron or to grow in iron-limited media or in cirrhotic ascites containing hemoglobin. Hemoglobin added into iron-limited media was not destroyed, but gradually formed an insoluble aggregate during culture; this aggregation of hemoglobin occurred regardless of vvpE mutation or complementation. These results indicate that VvpE is not required for efficient iron uptake from hemoglobin. On the contrary, hemoglobin or iron is required for efficient vvpE transcription. In addition, a discrepancy exists between vvpE transcription and extracellular VvpE production in iron-limited media containing inorganic iron or hemoglobin, which suggests that additional unknown posttranscriptional events may be involved in the extracellular production of VvpE.

A lipid producing yeast was screened from leaves of Albabiscus and was identified as a Rhodotorula graminis SW 214. During the shakining incubation of 8 days at $25^{\circ}C$, the yeast produced extracellular lipids of 7.3g/l of the media. The relative concentration of carbon and nitrogen sources in the media influenced the extracellular lipid production greatly. When with nitrogen sources in the media were almost exhausted for growth of the yeast the sufficient carbon sources, the lipid production proceeded vigorously. Eight days of batch cultivation with 8% glucose, 2.5g/l of yeast extract, $KH_{2}PO_{4}(1g/l)\;MgSO_{4}\;(0.2g/l)$ and pH 6 gave maximum biomass and extracellular lipid production of 8.05g/l and 8.89g/l, respectively. The acid value, saponificatio value, the iodine value, ad the unsaponifiable matter of the extracellular lipids of Rhodotorula graminis SW 214 were 2.6, 534, 5.1 and 2.4, respectively. Lipid was constituted 75.2% triglyceride, 5.9% free fatty acid, 10.8% phospholipid, 4.9% esterified sterol and 3.3% free sterol. Major fatty acids found were 3-hydroxypentadecanoate, 3-hydroxyhexadecanate, trans-9-octadecanate, cis-9-hexadecanate (hydroxy palmitic), 15-methylhexadecanate (oleic), 18-methylno-nadecanate, octadecanate (stearic) and 3-hydroxytridecante.

It is apparently clear that K-pop has been expanding its influence overseas, with its high growth rate. As a result, attempts have been made to analyze the characteristics of K-Pop in various academic fields. This research quantitatively used the participatory use process of K-Pop contents in voluntary participation and dissemination of the audience in the Trans-Media environment. The author examined the use of participatory K-Pop contents from the view point of reparability through big data content analysis. It has been revealed that K-Pop is spreading globally through social media, fans of various countries like to play K-Pop, and they make up their own content and form a participatory culture. In addition, we looked at when the moments of momentum in which participatory use is soaring were popular content and who was the publisher.

Marshall Mcluhan, a media scholar, created the word Gutenberg Gaaxy meaning the new environment formulated by printing technic and he insisted that it changed human life entirely. In the history of human, the media evolved into printing technic through oral and transcription. This evolution of media and the environment created by the media are the most important point of Mcluhan's theory. He sees the world as the result of media evolution. In mcluhan's sight, Gutenberg Galaxy is the first environment composed by the media. Based on the mcluhan's theory, this study focused on the environment created by the media and applied it into the western music history. The link of the Gutenberg Galaxy and the western music, especially in romantic era, will be the main subject of the study. The Book is the most representative media of the printing technic. In the era of oral and transcription, the communication was limited by the spatial restriction. However, the book was free to spatial condition and this character of the book made the knowledge free. The knowledges delivered by the oral and transcription were mostly the matter of mundane world because they are so close to the human life, even though they are narrating about the God's world. The book, free to expanding the knowledge beyond the world, made the knowledge transcendent and expanded the sight of the humans into the transcendent world. The modern western world is the product of the expanded knowledge by the book and so does the music. In the time of printing technic, the music begun to gain the population by the printed sheet music. As delivering the music through the printed sheet, the music received transcendence and mystery as meeting the spirit of the times. This link formed by the time of Gutenberg Galaxy will be the main focus of the study and it will prove the link between the media and the western music.

This paper focuses on proposing an alternative solution via identifying the problems that domestic popular magazines encounter in the context of the recession crisis faced by printed media in accordance with the advent of the digital media era. Firstly, current-state investigation and in-depth interviews with editorial staff of the major 4 domestic women's magazines were conducted to analyze their brand positioning and change of direction in facing the rise of smart devices. Secondly, domestic women's magazines were compared with international popular magazines that have been successfully undergoing digitalization. Accordingly, domestic women's magazines lack the know-how to digitalize their publication and show limitations in collaboration, openness, trans-media, and cross-media. As most women's magazines are unprofessionally composed of gossip articles having popular appeal rather than practicality, it is an urgent issue for them to differentiate their contents from competitors.

This paper intends to analyze the role expansion of characters, which was an important factor in setting the worldview in storytelling. With the development of media, the way of setting the worldview began to change. At the center of these changes are 'Transmedia' and 'Metaverse', which have recently been receiving attention. With the development of trans media, where the intersection and convergence of media is actively attempted, characters are breaking free from their innate limitations, crossing various media, and performing various activities in new stories. In addition, in the metaverse, an extended concept of the real world, avatars play a role in constructing and expanding the metaverse world as users and creators. By analyzing these changes, we would like to deal with the phenomenon in which character setting, which was used as an element in orthodox world view setting, replaces the world view.
