  • An AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicle) is an unmanned underwater vessel to investigate sea environments and deep sea resource. To be completely autonomous, AUV must have the ability to home and dock to the launcher. In this paper, we consider a class of homing trajectory planning problem for an AUV with kinematic and tactical constraints in horizontal plane. Since the AUV under consideration has underactuated characteristics, trajectory for this kind of AUV must be designed considering the underactuated characteristics. Otherwise, the AUV cannot follow the trajectory. Proposed homing trajectory panning method that called VGM (Virtual Goal Method) based on visibility graph takes the underactated characteristics into consideration. And it guarantees shortest collision free trajectory. For tracking control, we propose a PD controller by simple guidance law. Finally, we validate the trajectory planning algorithm and tracking controller by numerical simulation and ocean engineering basin experiment in KORDI.

  • This study suggests a trajectory tracking controller composed of an input output linearization compensator and a linear controller. The input output linearization compensator is derived from the nonlinear equations of a pneumatic control system and it algebraically transforms a nonlinear system dynamics into a linear one, so that input output characteristics of the control system is linearized regardless of the variation of the operating point and linear control techniques can be applied. The results of nonlinear simulations show that the proposed controller tracks the given trajectories more accurately than a state feedback controller does.

  • Field robot represented by excavator can be applied for various kinds of working in manufacturing, construction, agriculture etc. because of the flexibility of its multi-joint mechanism and the high power of hydraulic actuators. In general, the dynamics of field robot have strong coupling, various kinds of non-linearity, and time-varying parameters according to working conditions. Therefore, it is very difficult to describe the system well, and design controller systematically based on its model. This paper established the mathematical model of field robot driven by electro-hydraulic servomechanism and constructed the adaptive control system robust to external load variations. The proposed control system for the field robot was evaluated by the computer simulation and the performance results of trajectory tracking were compared with that of PID control system.

  • The Fourier series are employed to approximate the input/output(I/O) characteristics of a dynamic system and, based on the approximation, a new learing control algorithm is proposed in order to find iteratively the control input for tracking a desired trajectory. The use of the Fourier approximation of I/O renders at least a couple of useful consequences: the frequency characteristics of the system can be used in the controller design and the reconstruction of the system states is not required. The convergence condition of the proposed algorithm is provided and the existence and uniqueness of the desired control input is discussed. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is illustrated by computer simulation for a robot trajectory tracking. It is shown that, by adding feedback term in learning control algorithm, robustness and convergence speed can be improved.

  • This paper is presents multivariable control scheme for industrial robot manipulators. The control scheme consists of two loops. The modeling error between linearized robot model and actual robot model is compensated in error compensation loop. The PID control loop is designed for pole assignment to stability of robot system and utilized for trajectory tracking. Alternatively computer simulation results are given for illustration purpose of suggested controller.

  • In this thesis, a digital tracking controller is proposed for multi-axis position control system. Tracking and contouring error exist when the machine tool moves along a trajectory in multi-axis system. The proposed scheme enhances the tracking and contouring performance by reducing the errors. Also, an optimal tracking controller reduces the tracking error by the state feedback and the feedforward compensator reduces the effects of a nonlinear disturbance such as friction or dead zone. The proposed control scheme reduces the contour error which occurred when the tool tracks the reference trajectory. Finally, the performance of the proposed controller is exemplified by some simulations and by applying the real XY servo system.

  • This paper presents the trajectory tracking control for mobile robot. The designed controller consists of kinematic and dynamic controller. Kinematic controller has two gains and it reduces the trial time for gain setting as compared convectional controller with three gains. Dynamic controller includes the compensation of friction and disturbance. It can improve the performance of the trajectory tracking under the various environment. Simulation results shows that the proposed controller has a stable performance.

  • This paper addresses the trajectory tracking problem for ship berthing using sliding mode technique. With significant potential advantages: insensitivity to plant nonlinearities, parameter variations, remarkable stability and performance robustness with environmental disturbances, the multivariable sliding modes controller is proposed for solving trajectory tracking of ship in harbor area. In this study, the ship position and heading angle are simultaneously tracked to guarantees that the ship follows a given path (geometric task) with desired velocities (dynamic task). The stability of the proposed control law is proved based on Lyapunov theory. The proposed approach has been simulated on a computer model of a supply vessel with good results.

  • In this paper, we propose a trajectory tracking controller for a two-wheeled mobile robot (WMR) with nonholonomic constraints using a fuzzy sliding-mode controller-based hyperbolic function. The proposed controller is composed of two separate controllers. The sliding-mode controller is used for attitude control of the WMR, and the fuzzy controller-based hyperbolic function is designed to adjust the reach time of the sliding-mode control. Simulation results on a linear and a circular trajectory show that the proposed controller improves the control performance. The proposed controller reduces the reach time by as much as 47% compared to the controller proposed by Xie et al.

  • In this paper, the desist and the implementation of a robust adaptive controller for trajectory tracking control of the robot manipulator is presented. The proposed control scheme ensures that without any prior knowledge of the robot manipulator parameters, tracking errors are converged to some boundary in the presence of a state-dependent input disturbances as well as the ideal case. The 3 DOF robot manipulator including actuator dynamics is used for the implementation of the proposed control scheme. The experimental results show that the proposed control scheme is valid for trajectory tracking control of the robot manipulator.
