  • We describe tests for detecting and locating quantitative traits loci (QTL) for traits in Hanwoo. Lod scores and a permutation test have been described. From results of a permutation test to detect QTL, we select major DNA markers of BMS941 microsatellite locus in Hanwoo chromosome 17 for further analysis. K-means clustering analysis applied to four traits and eight DNA markers in BMS941 resulted in three cluster groups. We conclude that the major DNA markers of BMS941 microsatellite locus in Hanwoo chromosome 17 are markers 80bp, 85bp 90bp and 105bp.

  • Prolactin (PRL) plays an important role in promoting mammalian mammary gland development, and milk production during lactation. Therefore the PRL gene was chosen as a candidate gene for milk traits in Holstein dairy cows. PCR-SSCP and PCR-RFLP were used to analyze genetic variations in the 5' regulation region of the PRL gene. In this part of the gene, two new polymorphic sites were detected in the Chinese Holstein dairy cows. One was a XbaI-RFLP locus, and the other was an SSCP locus. Statistical analysis showed that the XbaI-RFLP locus and the SSCP locus had a significant positive effect on milk traits.

  • This study examined the effects of children′s personality traits on children′s emotional intelligence. The Subjects were 1060 5th graders of elementary schools located in four cities of Seoul, Suwon, Daejeon, and Daegu, Korea. The results indicated that girls in general showed more of the positive personality traits and higher emotional intelligence(EI) than boys did. Reflectiveness and sociability among seven personality factors had positive effects on all of the four EI factors. Responsibility factor of personality positively affected "self-regulation and emotion utilization" of both boys and girls, while activity factor had a positive effect on "other-regulation and self-expression". Stability had a possitive effect on "self-regulation and emotion utilization" among girls, whereas superiority had a negative effect on "empathy" among boys.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personality traits ana clothing interest in girls' high school students The results were as follows : 1. In the personality traits of higher groups, the subjects scored highest in Sociability followed by Ascendancy and Self-Confidence in a descending order. In the clothing interest, the subjects scored highest in clothing interest of shopping followed by clothing interest of design & fashion, clothing interest of construction, clothing interest of management and clothing interest of psychological aspect in a descending order. 2. There was partially significant relationship between personality traits and clothing into rest. 3. There were highly significant relationships among clothing interest subscales. Specially, there was the highest significant relationship between clothing interest of design & fashion and clothing interest of shopping. 4. There was partially significant relationship between clothing interest and background of home.

  • The subjects of this study on the effects of mother's personality on her childrearing behaviors were 1060 mothers and their $5^{th}$ grade children. Results indicated that maternal childrearing behaviors were related to her personality traits. The effects of mother's personality on her childrearing behaviors varied by sex of child, reporter (mother/child), and childrearing behavior factors. Mother-reported childrearing behaviors correlated more highly with her personality than child-reported behaviors. Behaviors reported by girls provided higher correlations between mother's personality and childrearing dimensions than reports by boys. Mother's personality traits showed differential correlations with childrearing dimensions of Rejection-Restriction (R R) and Warmth-Acceptance (W A) by reporter and sex of child. R R was affected by mother's Impulsiveness more among girls than among boys. Maternal Superiority increased W A toward boys while maternal Responsibility increased W A toward girls.

  • The rapid development of the sheep genetic linkage map over the last five years has given us the ability to follow the inheritance of chromosomal regions. Initially this powerful resource was used to find markers linked to monogenic traits but there is now increasing interest in using the genetic linkage map to define the complex of genes that control multigenic production traits. Of particular interest are those production traits that are difficult to measure and select for using classical quantitative genetic approaches. These include resistance to disease where a disease challenge (necessary for selection) poses too much risk to valuable stud animals and meat and carcass qualities which can be measured only after the animal has been slaughtered. The goal for the new millennium will be to fully characterise the genetic basis of multigenic production traits. The genetic linkage map is a vital tool required to achieve this.

  • A total of 333 carcasses were evaluated for hindquarter traits: round weight, percent round, loin weight, percent loin, flank weight and percent flank. Other characteristics included: total retail, lean trim, fat trim, round steaks, rump, sirloin tip, loin steaks, percent loin steaks and flank steaks. Mating types included straightbred Angus and Santa Gertrudis, the reciprocal crosses of these two breeds and Gelbvieh ${\times}$ Angus. Breed of sire and breed of dam were significant for most of the traits evaluated. Calf year and slaughter group were also significant. This could be the result of environmental variations. Effect of sire within sire breed was non-significant for all the traits considered. Heterosis due to interaction between sire breed ${\times}$ dam breed was found significant for percent total retail cuts based on hindquarter weight. Generally, Santa Gertrudis purebreds were more desirable in cut out characteristics than all other breeding types followed by crossbreds of Angus ${\times}$ Santa Gertrudis.

  • Combining ability in mungbean was studied in 15 quantitative traits through a 6 $\times$ 6 diallel cross. Both additive and non-additive gene effects were found conditioning the inheritane of nodes of the first peduncle, clusters per plant, clusters on main stem and branches, pods per plant, 1000 seed weight, grain yield per plant, biomass, and harvest index. The additive gene action was found significant for nodes on main stem, average internodal length, branches per plant, pods per cluster, pod length, and seeds per pod. The predominace of additive genetic variance was observed in all traits. For grain yield and yield components, the best combiner were VC3902A, VC1560D and ML-5, while the best combinations were the crosses VC3902A $\times$ ML-5, VC1560D $\times$ ML-5, and NM 92 $\times$ VC1560D.

  • A study was conducted to determine the interdependence among the conformation traits of 28 "Pallaresa" cows using principal component analysis. Originally 21 body linear measurements were obtained, from which eight traits are subsequently eliminated. From the principal components analysis, with raw varimax rotation of the transformation matrix, two principal components were extracted, which accounted for 65.8% of the total variance. The first principal component alone explained 51.6% of the variation, and tended to describe general size, while the second principal component had its loadings for back-sternal diameter. The two extracted principal components, which are traits related to dorsal heights and back-sternal diameter, could be considered in selection programs.

  • This study demonstrates some major traits of digital contents as information, playfulness, individuality, as satisfaction and commitment, user behavior as use intention. To make an empirical analysis the study, it is hypothesized that traits of digital contents, relationship quality, and user behavior. The major finding of this study can be summarized as follows, traits of digital contents are positively affected by satisfaction in relationship quality and use intention. Theoretical implication of this study are as follows. First, users wanted to choice only needed information. Second, users recognized digital contents as a part of life. So, user's ability is very important in this environment. According to this, business related with or interested in digital contents must have developed digital contents in variety aspect. Users must have concerned using digital contents, also.
