  • In a training simulator for power plant, operator's action in the MCR(Main Control Room) are given to plant process and computer system model as an inputs, and the same response as in real power plant is provided in real time. Inter-process communication and synchronization are especially important among various inputs. In the plant simulator, to simulate the digital control system such as FOXBORO SPEC-200 Micro control system, modification and adaptation of control card(CCC) and its continuous display station(CDS) is necessary. This paper describes the modeling and simulation of FOXBORO SPEC-200 Micro control system applied to Younggwang nuclear power plant unit #3 & 4, and its integration process to the full-scope replica type training simulator. In a simulator, display station like CDS of FOXBORO SPEC-200 Micro control system is classified as ITI(Intelligent Type Instrument), which has a micro processor inside to process information and the corresponding alphanumeric display, and the stimulation of ITI limits the important functions in a training simulator such as backtrack, replay, freeze and IC reset. Therefore, to achieve the better performance of the simulator, modification of CDS and special firmware is developed to simulate the FOXBORO SPEC-200 Micro control system. Each control function inside control card is modeled and simulated in generic approach to accept the plant data and control parameter conveniently, and debugging algorithms are applied for massive coding developed in short period.

  • In this paper, a new construction for training simulator of R/C helicopter based on two types of servo controller is proposed. Two modified algorithms (algorithm I and II) for servo controller design are presented. Algorithm I is developed by adopting Davison's method in the case that the expressions for the homogeneous differential equations of reference input and disturbance are different types, and algorithm II is done by considering error weighting function for the servo controller of algorithm I . The linear fractional transformation method is incorporated in both design methods in order to assign the closed loop poles of the servo system in a specified region. The helicopter simulator is composed by the gimbals with two freedom of rolling and pitching. The reliability and validity for the design methods of the proposed servo controller are investigated through the practical experiment for the simulator by using 16bits micro-computer with A/D and D/A converters. It can be observered from the experimental results that the proposed servo controller is applicable to practical plants since the simulator is robust for the arbitrary disturbance and it follows to the given reference input without significant steady state error.

  • The development of a Marine Engine Room Simulator system for training and research is described. Development objectives of the system are for both student training, research and development work. The system includes a distributed server/client architecture for 1 to 1, or 1 to many client simulation operation through OPC server, complete separation of visual elements from the controlling routines and the ability to work on the mathematical model independent of the controller and visual systems. A graphical user interface for the man-machine interface has been developed and the mathematical model has been updated. Various engine room operational situations can be simulated. The use of marine engine room simulator for training of sea going engineers and its competency for STCW-95 is discussed.

육군 훈련교육에서 시뮬레이터 시스템의 지각된 교육효과에 관한 연구 (A Study on Percepted Education Effectiveness of Simulator System in the Army Training Education)

  • The main objective of this study is to show how to measure the education effectiveness of simulator system in the army. We investigate the education effectiveness through the measuring model that consists of three dimensions such as understanding, experience, and learning. The results of empirical analysis demonstrate that the education effectiveness depends on three dimensions. The result also suggests that the higher the degree of each dimension is, the higher the education effectiveness. However, there is no education effectiveness difference between the traditional training and the simulator training because of the elementary level of simulator function.

  • A study on the static type simulator will include an instructor's station, two cabs for ISA with visual and sound system, and realistic and accurate model of the trains operation. The simulator is easy to extend and maintenance using structured the S/W. The training of new drives requires that the environment of the cab, controls placement, etc. must highly realistic so that driver can readily transfer his training experience to the real world. The simulator detailed software model and extensive scenario design capability allows both for a wide variety of scenarios and accurately modeled response covering most aspects of brakes, rules, and faults.

  • An aircraft simulator for ergonomics testing and pilot training was developed from the joint work Agency for Defense Development(ADD) and Daewoo Heavy Industry, LTD, in Korea at first time. It is basically to satisfy the requirements established by FAA-AC-120-40C ( 1995-JAN-26). The aircraft simulator will be used mainly for ergonomics testing and pilot training for basic trainer on ADD and Korea Air Force in near futrue. This simulator reproduces faithfully the cockpit and flight characteristics of the KTX-1 aircraft. It is one of the latest full flight simulators that have the CGI(computer graphic image) visual system and six degree of freedom motions system. Development efforts focused on user-oriented design approach for ergonomics testing and flight training of pilots. Main characteristics of each subsystem are described such as cockpit, instruments, control loading system, motion system, visual system, aural system, instructor operation station and aircraft simulation softwear.

  • This paper designed the railway vehicle running device with a proto-type for the railway vehicle maintenance training and developed a propulsion control device simulator equipped the imitation steering wheel. In addition, this paper applied a multi-thread technology in order to implement the staged fault and the propulsion control device protected operation test and an implementation of the failure that occur in actual rail vehicle and confirm the validity as the propulsion control device simulator for the maintenance training.

  • The latest version of the HLA(High Level Architecture) standard developed by the US Department of Defense was established as an open and internal IEEE 1516 HLA standard in 2000. Commercial applications based on the IEEE 1516 have already developed in the non-defense industry. We participated in several development projects for NTS (Nuclear Training Simulator). Extensive modifications are necessary to make a new and/or upgraded NTS because the previously developed simulation softwares have not two desirable property: reusability and interoperability. We reviewed the IEEE 1516 specifications to develop NTS having the capability of reusability and interoperability. Our review activities were forced on application development process, supporting tools, and software structure of NTS. The primary goal of this review is to identify what are constraints or problems to be resolved when we apply IEEE 1516 to NTS development. In this paper we suggest several recommendations for NTS developers.

국내 원자력발전소 첨단 주제어실의 Crew Resource Management 교육훈련 효과 분석 (Effectiveness of Crew Resource Management Training Program for Operators in the APR-1400 Main Control Room Simulator)

  • The objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Crew Resource Management (CRM) training program for operators in the Main Control Room (MCR) simulator of APR-1400 Nuclear Power Plant. The experiments were conducted for two different crews of operators performing six different emergency operating scenarios during four-week period. Each crew consisted of the five operators: senior reactor operator, safety technical advisor, reactor operator, turbine operator, and electric operator. All crews (Crew A and B) participated in the training program for the technical knowledge and skills which were required to operate the simulator of the MCR during the first week. To verify the effectiveness of the CRM training program; however, only Crew A was selected to attend the CRM training after the technical knowledge and skills training. The results of the experiments showed that the CRM training program improved the individual attitudes of Crew A significantly. Team skills of Crew A were found to be significantly better than those of Crew B. The CRM training did not have positive effects on enhancing the individual performance of Crew A; however, as compared to that of Crew B. Implication of these findings was discussed further in detail.

몰입형과 시뮬레이터형 가상현실 훈련체계 비용 대 교육효과 분석 -육군 가상현실 훈련체계를 중심으로- (Cost Education Effectiveness Analysis of Immersion-type and Simulator-type Virtual Reality Training Systems -Focusing on The ROK Army Virtual Reality Training System-)

  • 육군은 교육훈련 효과를 향상시키기 위해 노력을 경주하고 있다. 그러나 실제 훈련 시 많은 제한사항으로 인해 실전적인 교육훈련이 제한된다. 이러한 제한사항을 극복하기 위해 가상현실 기술을 활용하고 있다. 가상현실 기술은 다양한 유형으로 발전하고 있으며, 육군은 비용 대 교육효과를 고려하여 가상현실 훈련체계를 도입할 필요가 있다. 육군은 실제 장비와 유사하게 제작된 고비용의 시뮬레이터형을 주로 사용하고 있다. 최근에는 HMD(Head Mounted Display, 이하 HMD)를 착용한 저비용의 몰입형 가상현실 훈련체계도 사용 중이다. 본 연구는 육군 방공학교에서 운영중인 시뮬레이터형과 몰입형 가상현실 훈련체계에 대한 비용 대 교육효과를 분석한다. 연구 방법은 첫 번째, 계층적 분석기법(AHP : Analytic Hierarchy Process, 이하 AHP)으로 교육효과를 분석한다. 두 번째, 비용은 가상현실 훈련체계의 제작 비용을 적용하여 비용 대 교육효과를 분석한다. 분석결과, 비용 대 교육효과는 몰입형이 시뮬레이터형보다 3.4배 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 이번 연구결과를 통해 가상현실 훈련체계의 비용 대 교육효과 분석을 위한 기초자료로 활용이 가능 할 것이다.
