  • Traffic analysis during past years used the Poisson distribution or Markov model, assuming an exponential distribution of packet queue arrival. Recent studies, however, have shown aperiodic and burst characteristics of network traffics. Such characteristics of data traffic enable the scalability of network, QoS, optimized design, when we analyze new traffic model having a self-similar characteristic. This paper analyzes the self-similar characteristics of a small-scale mixed traffic in a network simulation, the real network Traffic.

  • This paper is related with optimum burst structure design for high efficient TDMA satellite return link transmission. In general, some typical burst structure for data transmission is composed of a pair of preamble and traffic data in the DVB-RCS (Digital Video Broadcasting. Return Channel via Satellite) and IPOS (IP over Satellite) standard. This structure has some difficulties to increase spectral efficiency that it requires a large of preamble length, high SNR environment, or receiver complexity. To cope with them, burst structure with distributed pilot symbol can be used to alleviate the residual frequency offset effect by calculating accurate frequency offset than conventional one. In particular, we investigate some relevant to proposed distributed pilot structure, previously and analyze their strong points/drawbacks in terms of synchronization to draw the most appropriate one.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performance of VDL mode 3 system model whose specification is defined by ICAO(International Civil Aviation Organization). For performance evaluation, we obtained BER(Bit Error Rate), transmission delay time, burst retransmission rate and throughput. From the analysis result, we could explicitly define relationships among BER, transmission delay time, throughput and burst restransmission rate. In addition, it became known that V/D retransmission rate and throughput are closely related in down link channel.

  • Satellite communication is getting more important in the coming 21st century because of its wide areas sevice capability, ease of access, and fast channel establishment. As such, satellite communication networks will be the basis of the global communication system in cooperation with the ground ATM networks. In this paper, we consider an efficient transmission methodology of ATM cells over the satellite communication channel. We first analyze possible bottlenecks and performance deterioration factors in the case, and then propose an enhanced cell trasmission mechanism. In order to use satellite channel for ATM cell transmission, the application of complicated channel coding is inevitable. However, the forwared error control such as convolutional encoding brings forth burst errors, which calls for the application of some kind of interleaving mechanism to randomize the burst errors at the receiver. Another aspect which should b econsidered in satellite communication system is the inherent transmission delay, which can be very considered in satellite communication system is te inherent transmission delay, which can be very critical to the delay-sensitive ATM traffic. Therefore, we propose that the processing delay at the block interleaving stage should be controlled propose a variable-size block interleaving mechanism which utilizes the predicted transmission delay for each traffic in the queues of the transmitter. According to the computer simulation, the proposed mechanism could improve the overall performance by drastically reducing the ATM cell drop rate owing to the excessive transmission delay.

  • In this paper, relative service differentiation in JET based optical burst-switched networks with deflection routing is presented. It differs from conventional schemes in that it tries to make the loss rate of high class bursts as low as possible while maintaining the desired proportional ratio between the high class bursts and low class bursts. Strategies applied to it are dynamic wavelength allocation and the preemption which are combined to deflection routing. With dynamic wavelength allocation, the number of wavelengths allocated to high class bursts are dynamically changed. Preemption which gives more preference to high class bursts is also applied to decrease its loss rate. To lower the loss rate, deflection routing is applied for any kind of traffic. With those strategies, the suggested scheme shows desired properties that the loss rate of high class traffic is as lowered as possible. A queueing model for the scheme is developed to approximate loss ratio and the numerical results show that the proposed scheme provisions relative service differentiation.

  • In this paper we describe our investigation en ATM CLR(Cell Loss Rate) in the wireless ATM Networks, which consist of wireless access nodes and wireless links. A wireless access node is modelled as the ND/D/1queue. A wireless channel is modelled as channel with single and burst error characteristics, and it can be seen that the CLR degrades on a link with burst errors than on a link with single error. Because wireless channel can be approximated as the Rayleigh or Rician fading channel and wireless communication systems are power limited, it is customary that the CLR degrades on a link with burst errors than on a link with single error. So error control method should be used to improve performance degradation caused by burst errors. We consider the forward error correction(FEC) as error control scheme for CBR traffics to improve performance degradation caused by burst errors, and analyze performance of concatenated FEC scheme through the use of CLR.

  • This paper is about the research to maintain and enhance the flow of data of the wireless traffic control. Various types of burst traffic that were found at TCP window flow control have been removed or mitigated using the two-way traffic control. Currently, TCP ACK Compression problem appears during the transmission of the wireless communication control channel because the queues are mostly located at the end system. Therefore, in this paper, the periodic bursty characterist of the source IP queue wilt be analyzed to predict the maximum value of queues. And then the prediction tool will be applied to wireless communication traffic control to handle symmetric traffic as to increase the throughput and improve the performance.

  • In broadband satellite multimedia (BSM) system, burst time plan (BTP) is always periodically generated. We find that this method can have a great effect on the system response ability to bandwidth requests. A general analysis model of BTP generation method is given. An optimized BTP generation (O-BTPG) method is presented by deducing the optimal bandwidth allocation period (BAP) and bandwidth allocation latency (BAL) without considering the signaling overhead caused by BTP. Then a novel asynchronous BTP generation (A-BTPG) method in which the BTP is generated asynchronously according to the traffic load from users' bandwidth requests is proposed. Simulation results show that A-BTPG can flexibly realize a trade-off between the system response ability and BTP signaling overhead. What's more, it can be widely used in various regenerative onboard switching BSM systems.
