A Study on the Measurement of Intruding Vehicles Enforcement System of Traffic Jam (끼어들기위반 단속장비의 교통정체 측정에 관한 연구)

  • This study suggested experimental study results of congestion detection method for intruding vehicle enforcement system. This congestion detection method is developed to determine optimal operation criteria of intruding vehicle enforcement system as detecting traffic congestion. In ITS sector, traffic management systems generally have used a sectional travel speed for congestion detection. However, image sensors have high error rate of congestion detection because of speed error. This study suggested comprehensive congestion detection criteria based on speed and occupancy rate using field studies. As field study results, the proposed intruding vehicle enforcement system using image sensor is capable of accurately detecting the traffic congestion using sectional speed of 20km/h and occupancy rate of 60% as congestion detection criteria.

  • Busan Port which is the representative social overhead capital facilities for international trade of goods has been the driving force for economic development in Korea. Therefore, the central government should play the major role in building a rear road to Busan Port in order that it may function as a mojor port of Northeastern Asia through the systemization of mutual assistance among connected facilities, completely equipped with port-related facilities befitting to the principal port of imports and exports. In this study, the validity of container tax is being examined, analyzing container tax which Is considered as an obstacle to the development of Busan Port and its purpose, and grasping the present conditions by the realistic speculation on container tax issues and its abolition. First, the port rear road as a social overhead capital facilities, which connects port and expressway, should be considered as part of port, and port is social overhead capital invested by government. Second, the susan City imposes on container tax. As a result, a shipper and a shipping company are paying a double charge by paying container tax with port dues. Third, someone argues that port rear road is constructed as container truck generates much traffic, but it is unreasonable to conclude that container truck is seed of traffic jam because according to traffic survey of Busan City, container truck occupies only 1.45% of total traffic Forth, it has bad influence upon the competitiveness of Busan Port as Northeastern logistics base, as other ports who are competing with Busan Port like Singapore.   • We have proposed a fuzzy model for behavior of vehicles in the road traffic simulation system with microscopic model for analyzing traffic jam in the broad areas. It can exactly simulate each vehicle's behavior. We propose a new hardware processor to simulate fuzzy decision-making mechanism for its model. This paper describes the functions, performance and structure of the hardware processor.

  • For the purpose of decreasing economic loss from the traffic jam, a car route guidance system efficiently utilizing the existing roads has attracted a great deal of attention. In this paper, the search algorithm for optimal path and alternative paths, which is the main function of a car route guidance system, was presented using evolution program. Search efficiency was promoted by changing the population size of path individuals in each generation, applying the concept of age and lifetime to path individuals. Through simulation on the virtual road-traffic network consisting of 100 nodes with various turn constraints and traffic volumes, not only the optimal path with the minimal cost was obtained, avoiding turn constraints and traffic congestion, but also alternative paths with similar costs and acceptable difference was acquired, compared with optimal path.

  • Fixed cycle traffic signal controller is pattern type controller. This method is that one concluding traffic proposal affect fixed cycle controller to deciding cycle time during 24 hours. Traffic intersection jam is caused traffic controller supervisor input wrong traffic proposal. The available to traffic controller is traffic proposal is not selected by an outward look but propriety traffic proposal is compared with each other. This paper presents that property traffic proposal adopted to fixed cycle controller by fuzzy analytic hierachy process and new proposal adopted fixed cycle controller is compared with others.

  • Due to the urbanization, lots of people are living in cities. It is very convenient to live in the cities for the people but at the same time, the highly populated city has several environmental problems. During delivery process of large amount of municipal waste generated from the cities, the automobile emission and traffic jam have been occurred. The waste collection in the cities has been mainly done by using labour force and delivery truck. This is the conventional waste collection up to now. Recently, new technologies like automated waste collection system and capsule transportation have been introduced. Conventional waste collection mainly relied on the labour force and truck delivery does not need to invest a lot of money for the start-up. However, it requires to pay the operational cost both for the labour force and the truck delivery. On the contrary to this conventional waste collection, the automated waste collection and capsule transportation require high initial investment cost. However, the automated waste collection and capsule transportation can reduce significantly the pollutants emission, traffic jam by the waste trucks and actual waste collection cost per ton. In dealing with the waste collection in the cities, new waste collection technologies could be properly combined with the conventional waste collection for the effective municipal waste treatment.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the job stress in home care nurses. Method: The subjects were 139 home care nurses of hospital in an urban cities. The data were collected from 26 Man to 27 June by self report adherence questionnaire. Job stress was measured using CHN-PWRSQ(Community Health Nurses Perceptions of Work-Related Stressors Questionnaire). Result: The average score of job stress was 60.8. There were significantly high levels of job stress in those who have less than 10 years office period, those who have less than 2000000 won monthly salary than in their counterparts. With regard to the level of job stress by item, 'driving long distance and traffic jam', 'risk of traffic accident', 'bad weather condition', 'uncooperative family members', and 'uncooperative client/patient' were higher than other items. The age and office period were negatively correlated with job stress. Conclusion: The average score of job stress was 60.8.   • In this thesis, based on Genetic Algorithm, a new route search algorithm is presented to search an optimal route between the origin and the destination in intelligent route guidance systems in order to minimize the route traveling time. The proposed algorithm is effectively employed to complex road networks which have diverse turn constrains, time-delay constraints due to cross signals, and stochastic traffic volume. The algorithm is also shown to significantly promote search efficiency by changing the population size of path individuals that exist in each generation through the concept of age and lifetime to each path individual. A virtual road-traffic network with various turn constraints and traffic volume is simulated, where the suggested algorithm promptly produces not only an optimal route to minimize the route cost but also the estimated travel time for any pair of the origin and the destination, while effectively avoiding turn constraints and traffic jam.

  • This paper was inspired by the fact that Real-time Traffic Information Service could play a key role in reducing incomplete combustion time remarkably since it can provide traffic jam information in real-time basis. Emission characteristics of experimental engines were studied with variable travel distances and speed of car in terms of traffic information provided. 12 Km distance road of Susung district in Daegu is taken as an experimental area to examine this new approach. The emission was tested while the driving was done at 8 AM, 3 PM, 6 PM which represents various traffic conditions. The reduced emission has been measured for a travel distance running at different loads (conventional shortest route and Real-time Traffic Information) and various loads (CO, VOC and NOx) are all inventoried and calculated in terms of existing emission factors. The emission has been shown to reduce linearly with travel distance : carbon monoxide (20.56%), VOC (29.21%), NOx(8.86%).
