DiffServ의 효율적인 자원활용을 위한 트래픽 컨테이너 설계 (The Design for Traffic Container to use resources efficiently in DiffServ)

  • Diff-Serv는 개별적으로 구분된 다른 트래픽에 대해서 다른 종류의 네트워크 서비스를 제공하기 위한 메카니즘이며 이용자들에게 양질의 서비스를 제공하기 위한 방법을 제시하고 있다. DS는 토큰 버켓 방법을 사용하여 고정된 호스트들에게 제공되기 때문에 이동성을 가지는 서비스나 개별적인 트래픽에 대한 차등적인 서비스를 제공할 방안이 존재하지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 트래픽컨테이너(TC)를 위해서 WFQ 방법과 변방 노드들과 경계 라우터들 내부에서 제어가 가능한 AggF(Aggregate Flow)를 모니터링하여 스케쥴링하는 방법을 제시한다. 이 방법은 트래픽 비율(traffic rate)을 유동적으로 제어가 가능하며 대역폭의 효율적인 이용성을 제공하고 있다.

Optimal SMDP-Based Connection Admission Control Mechanism in Cognitive Radio Sensor Networks

  • Traffic management is a highly beneficial mechanism for satisfying quality-of-service requirements and overcoming the resource scarcity problems in networks. This paper introduces an optimal connection admission control mechanism to decrease the packet loss ratio and end-to-end delay in cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs). This mechanism admits data flows based on the value of information sent by the sensor nodes, the network state, and the estimated required resources of the data flows. The number of required channels of each data flow is estimated using a proposed formula that is inspired by a graph coloring approach. The proposed admission control mechanism is formulated as a semi-Markov decision process and a linear programming problem is derived to obtain the optimal admission control policy for obtaining the maximum reward. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism outperforms a recently proposed admission control mechanism in CRSNs.

인터넷에서 멀티미디어 스트리밍을 위한 하이브리드형 TCP-friendly 혼잡제어기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on TCP-friendly Congestion Control Scheme using Hybrid Approach for Multimedia Streaming in the Internet)

  • 최근 인터넷의 발전으로 디지털 오디오 및 비디오와 같은 멀티미디어 스트리밍에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 이러한 멀티미디어 스트리밍을 위해 UDP로 전송할 경우 TCP와 같은 혼잡제어를 수행하지 않기 때문에 동일한 경로에 TCP 트래픽 궁핍을 일으켜 혼잡붕괴를 초래한다. 이러한 역효과를 피하기 위해 멀티미디어 스트리밍을 위한 새로운 전송 프로토콜에 대한 연구가 수행되고 있다. TCP 친화적 혼잡제어기법은 크게 일반적인 혼잡윈도우 관리기능을 이용하는 윈도우기반 혼잡제어(window-based congestion control)와 TCP 모델링 방정식 등을 이용하여 전송율을 직접 조절하는 율기반 혼잡제어(rate-based congestion control)로 나눌 수 있다. 본 논문은 윈도우기반과 율기반을 복합적으로 다룬 하이브리드 TCP-friendly 혼잡제어기법에서 전송을 개선을 위한 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

  • Differentiated services (DiffServ) has been widely accepted as the service model to adopt for providing quality-of­service (QoS) over the next-generation IP networks. There is a growing need to support QoS in mobile ad hoc networks. Supporting DiffServ in mobile ad hoc networks, however, is very difficult because of the dynamic nature of mobile ad hoc networks, which causes network congestion. The network congestion induces long transfer packet delay and low throughput which make it very difficult to support QoS in mobile ad hoc networks. We propose DiffServ module to support differentiated service in mobile ad hoc networks through congestion control. Our DiffServ module uses the periodical rate control for real time traffic and also uses the best effort bandwidth concession when network congestion occurs. Network congestion is detected by measuring the packet transfer delay or bandwidth threshold of real time traffic. We evaluate our mechanism via a simulation study. Simulation results show our mechanism may offer a low and stable delay and a stable throughput for real time traffic in mobile ad hoc networks.

  • In order to control the flow of traffics in ATM networks and optimize the usage of network resources, an efficient control mechanism is necessary to cope with congestion and prevent the degradation of network performance caused by congestion. To effectively control traffic in UNI(User Network Interface) stage, we proposed algorithm of integrated model using on-line teaming neural network for CAC(Call Admission Control) and UPC(Usage Parameter Control). Simulation results will show that the proposed adaptive algorithm uses of network resources efficiently and satisfies QoS for the various kinds of traffics.

ABR 트랙픽 제어를 위한 버퍼 readout 스케쥴링 (A buffer readout scheduling for ABR traffic control)

  • The end-to-end rate-based control mechanism is used for the flow control of the ABR service to allow much more flexibility in ATM switching system. To accommodate the ABR service effciently many algorithms such as EFCI, EPRCA, ERICA, and CAPC2 have been proposed for the switch algorithm. ABR cells and related RM cells are received at the ATM switch fabric transparently without any processing. And then cells received from the traffic source are queued in the ABR buffer of switching system. The ABR buffer usually has some thresholds for easy congestion control signal transmission. Whatever we use, therefore, these can be many ABR traffic control algorithms to implement the ABR transfer capability. The genertion of congestion indicate signal for ABR control algorithms is determined by ABR buffer satus. And ABR buffer status is determined by ABR cells transfer ratio in ATM switch fabrics. In this paper, we presented the functional structures for control of the ABR traffic capability, proposed the readout scheduling, cell slot allocation of output link and the buffer allocation model for effective ABR traffic guranteeing with considering CBR/VBR traffics in ATM switch. Since the proposed readout scheduling scheme can provide more avaliable space to ABR buffer than existing readout scheduling scheme, generation rate of a SEND signal, that is, BCN signal in destination node can be increased for ABR call connection. Therefore, the proposed scheme, in this paper, can be appropriate as algorithm for effective ABR traffic service on output link of ATM switching node.

  • 네트워크에서 QoS를 지원하기 위한 적응제어 구조를 개발하기 위해서는 대역폭 할당에 따른 전송율 응답특성을 모델링하는 것이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 네트워크의 대역폭 할당에 따른 전송율의 동적 특성을 구현하는 "동적 시스템 모델"을 제안하고 적응 피드백 제어 구조를 제안된 모델에 적용시켜 시뮬레이션 및 모델의 최적화를 수행하였다.적화를 수행하였다.

차별화 서비스에서 AF 패킷의 혼잡제어를 위한 적응적 엄격 패킷 폐기 메커니즘 (Adaptive and Strict Packet Dropping Mechanism for the Congestion Control of AF Packets in Differentiated Service)

  • 본 논문에서 제안한 적응적 엄격 패킷 폐기 메커니즘은 사이클 사이의 트래픽 변화를 예측하여 혼잡제어를 위한 패킷 폐기를 적응적으로 처리할 수 있다. 따라서 제안된 메커니즘은 RIO 메커니즘의 단순 폐기율적용에 대한 단점을 보완하고, 동적 엄격 패킷 폐기 메커니즘(DSPD)의 예측 가능한 대역폭의 낭비를 최소화하였다. 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 망 트래픽의 상태에 따라 동적으로 변하는 전송가능 폐기순위에 따른 처리율과 패킷 폐기율을 RIO, DSPD 메커니즘과 비교 분석하였다. 시뮬레이션을 분석한 결과 제안된 메커니즘은 트래픽의 양에 상관없이 각 AF 클래스의 폐기순위를 엄격하게 적용하고 폐기순위에 따른 패킷 전송 능력을 RIO, DSPD에 비하여 개선하였음을 증명하였다.

QUEUEING ANALYSIS OF THE HOL PRIORITY LEAKY BUCKET SCHEME

  • ATM networks provide the various kinds of service which require the different Quality of Services(QoS) such as loss and delay. By statistically multiplexing of traffics and the uncertainty and fluctuation of source traffic pattern, the congestion may occur. The leaky bucket scheme is a representative policing mechanism for preventive congestion control. In this paper, we analyze the HOL(Head-of-Line) priority leaky bucket scheme. That is, traffics are classified into real-time and nonreal-time traffic. The real-time traffic has priority over nonreal-time traffic for transmission. For proposed mechanism, we obtain the system state distribution, finally the loss probability and the mean waiting time of real-time and nonreal-time traffic. The simple numerical examples also are presented.

A New Class-Based Traffic Queue Management Algorithm in the Internet

  • Facing limited network resources such as bandwidth and processing capability, the Internet will have congestion from time to time. In this paper, we propose a scheme to maximize the total utility offered by the network to the end user during congested times. We believe the only way to achieve our goal is to make the scheme application-aware, that is, to take advantage of the characteristics of the application. To make our scheme scalable, it is designed to be class-based. Traffic from applications with similar characteristics is classified into the same class. We adopted the RED queue management mechanism to adaptively control the traffic belonging to the same class. To achieve the optimal utility, the traffic belonging to different classes should be controlled differently. By adjusting link bandwidth assignments of different classes, the scheme can achieve the goal and adapt to the changes of dynamical incoming traffic. We use the control theoretical approach to analyze our scheme. In this paper, we focus on optimizing the control on two types of traffic flows: TCP and Simple UDP (SUDP, modeling audio or video applications based on UDP). We derive the differential equations to model the dynamics of SUDP traffic flows and drive stability conditions for the system with both SUDP and TCP traffic flows. In our study, we also find analytical results on the TCP traffic stable point are not accurate, so we derived new formulas on the TCP traffic stable point. We verified the proposed scheme with extensive NS2 simulations.
