  • Compared with the TWS(Track While Scan) tracking that uses scan-to-scan correlation at search illuminations for targets track, a phased array radar can use adaptive tracking which assigns additional track illuminations and the track formation range can be improved as a result. In this paper, an adaptive tracking, the search and track illuminations of a target are synchronized such that the extra illuminations are evenly distributed between the search illuminations, is proposed. Markov chain and track formation range for the proposed adaptive tracking are shown with them for the conventional TWS. The simulation result shows that the proposed adaptive tracking has improved track formation range by 27.6 % compared with the conventional TWS tracking under same track confirmation criterion.

  • Markov chains for active tracking which assigns additional track illuminations evenly between search illuminations for a radar system are presented in this article. And some quantitative analyses on track formation range are discussed by using them. Compared with track-while-search (TWS) tracking that uses scan-to-scan correlation at search illuminations for tracking of a target, active tracking has shown the maximum improvement in track formation range of about 27.6%. It is also shown that the number and detection probability of additional track beams have impact on the track formation range. For the consideration of radar resource management at the preliminary radar system design stage, the presented analysis method can be used easily without the need of Monte Carlo simulation.

  • Track While Scan(DS) system which can track the multitargets in dense target environment is designed. There are three tasks to be performed: I) Target Detection and 'plot' formation, ii) Plot to track association and, iii) Track updatement. The conventional approach has been to tackle each of these tasks separately. This paper outlines a method for jointly optimizing all the three tasks and presents implementation aspects.

  • In this paper, a real-time implementation of the TWS(track-while-scan) system using the high-speed DSP (digital signal processor) TMS320C25 is described. First, attempts have been made to investigate the FWL (finite word length) effect, which is caused by employing a fixed point arithmetic, of implementing the Kalman filter. The real-time TWS system consists of TWS arithmetic unit, scan converter, and system controller. In addition, the TWS system is in tegrated in the Multi-Bus. In experiment, it is observed that by employing the floating point arithmetic the computation time of 0.35sec is required for tracking 8 targets simultaneously, while 0.28sec is required for the fixed point arithmetic. Since the TWS system is designed to track up to 8 targets simultaneously, we conclude that the system is enough to process Kalman filter in a real-time.

  • In the conventional track while scan (TWS) system, there are two major functions to be performed : detection and tracking. These two functions are normally designed and optimised independently. So TWS algorithm ignores the available decision features that can help in resolving the plot-to-track association ambiguity. Therefore conventional TWS system cna't track the targets in a densed multi-target environment. This paper presents a new TWS algorithm for multi-target track to solve the existing TWS system problem in clutter environment. The algorithm proposed in this paper is derived by modifying the part of joint probabilistic data association (JPDA) algotithm to get the one to one correspondence instead of multiple correspondence and combined with maneuvering detection logic so that it could also track the low maneuvering targets. Simulations to confirm the performance are done in crossing, parallel and maneuvering target. The proposed algorithm was successfully tracking targets above target situations.

  • A small millimeter-wave tracking radar is a pulse radar that searches, detects, and tracks a target in real time through a TWS (Track While Scan) method on a sea-going traps target with a large RCS running at low speed. This paper describes the development of a simulated signal generator to verify the performance of a small millimeter wave tracking radar in laboratory anechoic chamber environment. We describe a GUI program for testing and performance analysis in conjunction with hardware configuration and tracking radar, and verified the simulated signal generator implemented through performance test.

  • Unlike conventional CT scan, the helical CT scan uses continuous rotating CT equipment with a slip ring to move the patient's coach at a constant speed while continuously scanning. Slice sensitivity profiles in the Z-position(SSPz) using the conventional X-ray CT have a shape similiar to a rectangular wave, which slightly spreads out into plains below the mountain. However, in the helical CT, with an expansion of the base, the rectangular shape collapses and a mouatain-like shape can be seen. We need to investigate the fellowing factors in helical CT scanning;the ability to scan along the axis of the body, effective slice width, slice shape and the precision of coach velocity, Helical scanning with sprial X-ray track is different from the conventional scanning in terms of the principle of image reconstruction performed. We believe that the problems in helical scanning can be solved by understanding new the special parameters such as the bed moving speed and the interval of image reconstruction.

  • A small millimeter-wave tracking radar is a pulse-based radar that searches, detects, and tracks a target in real time through a TWS (Track While Scan) method for a traps target on the sea with a large RCS running at low speed. It is necessary to develop a board equipped with a high-speed CPU to acquire and track target information through LPRF, DBS, and HRR signal processing techniques for a trap target operating various kinds of dexterous objects such as chaff and decoy, We designed a signal processor structure including DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) module design that can perform real - time FFT operation using FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and verified the signal processor implemented through performance test.

  • An adaptive ${\alpha}-{\beta}$ tracker is proposed for tracking maneuvering targets with a track-while-scan radar system. The tracker gain is updated on-line corresponding to the adjusted process noise variance which is obtained via time averaging of the process over a sliding window. The adjusted process noise variance is used to compute the maneuverability index for the tracker gain based on the steady-state Kalman filter equation for each epoch. It is shown via simulation that the proposed approach provides robust and accurate position estimates during the target maneuver while the performance of the conventional ${\alpha}-{\beta}$ tracker is shown much degraded.

  • Most space-borne optical scanning systems adopt linear arrayconfigurations. The well-knownthree different types of space-borne sensors arealong-track line scanner, across-track linescanner, and three line scanner. To acquire accurate location information of an object on the ground withthose sensors, the exterior and interior orientation parameters are critical factors for both of space-borne and airborne missions. Since the imaging geometry of sensors mightchange time to time due to thermal influence, vibration, and wind, it is very important to analyze the Interior Orientation Parameters (IOP) effects on the ground. The experiments based on synthetic datasets arecarried out while the focal length biases are changing. Also, both high and low altitudes of the imagingsensor were applied. In case with the along-track line scanner, the focal length bias caused errors along the scanline direction. In the other case with the across-track one, the focal length bias caused errors alongthe scan line and vertical directions. Lastly, vertical errors were observed in the case ofthree-line scanner. Those results from this study will be able to provide the guideline for developing new linearsensors, so as for improving the accuracy of laboratory or in-flight sensor calibrations.
