The body composition of an ancient roofing tiles excavated from Chonnam province has been investigated by X-ray diffraction, and inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy. Ancient roofing tiles were excavated at ancient mountain fortress and kiln sites. The body composition of roofing tiles was different according to the excavated sites. The mineral component of roofing tiles were grouped in the five types and chemical composition was different according to the excavated areas. It is presumed that the body of roofing tiles used low-grade raw materials containing $Fe_2O_3$ 4-10%. The trace element composition of the roofing tiles were different, and it might be all ret1ection of different geological characteristics. The characteristic element of rooting tiles was vanadium element of the analyzed 20 trace elements. By $SiO_2-V$ distribution diagram types, roofing tiles excavated from the Geomdan mountain fortress at Sunchon, kiln site in Yeochon, Gorak and Cheoksan mountain fortress at Yeosu were grouped into the same excavated site.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate mineralogical and chemical changes during natural weathering, and assess the mobility of major and trace elements. Yongwol power plant utilize anthracite coal which is mainly composed of illite, kaolinite, pyrophyllite and quartz in mineralogy. Coal and coal-derived fly ash samples were sampled by the electrostatic precipitator in Yongwol coal-fired power plant in Korea. Short term weathered fly ash were also collected in ash disposal mound, and two profile soil samples were taken from an ash near the power plant. Amorphous materials are the main component of the fly ash, and mullite, quartz, magnetite and heamatite are present in all coal-derived fly ash. In chemistry, Si and Al are the most abundant elements of the total content. The ash samples were fractionated into upper $90{\mu}m$ and under $45{\mu}m$ size. Finer particles show higher concentrations in metal contents including Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, V, Zn and Pb. Concentration of Zn and Pb are nearly 4 times higher concentration in the finer particles. For the profile samples, the concentrations of $SiO_2$, $Na_2O$, MgO and $K_2O$ generally show increasing trends with depth, whereas those of $Fe_2O_3$ and $TiO_2$ appear to decrease with depth. Content of MnO does not show any specific depth trend. For the trace elements, Co, Cu, Ni and V show increasing concentrations with depth.
Beef, pork and chicken on the market were analyzed for determination of tetracyclines residue and decomposition of tetracyclines by heating were studied. The content of oxytetracycline was trace in chicken A, 0.09 mg/kg in C and trace in beef C, pork A and B, but in the other samples was not detected oxytetracycline. Chlortetracycline residue was 0.14, 0.02 and 0.01 mg/kg in chicken A, C and beef B respectively. In HPLC analysis, two peaks of 8.1 and 9.0 min of retention time were found from beef and pork and expected to be component of meat, and because of same retention time, the one of 9.0 min interrupted determination of tetracycline. But those were not found in chicken, therefore the residue was 0.01 mg/kg in sample A. The residue were degradated rapidly by heating of roast, but slightly by that of boiling.
Methanol and/or boiling water extraction of 201 natural products and subsequent MTT assay using MT-4 cell line was carried out to screen the anti-HIV-1 activity. Among 97 methanol extracts, 7 extracts from Chrysanthemi Indicium Flos, Magnoliae Cortex, Machili Cortex, Reynoutriae Rhizoma, Lithospermi Radix, Agastachis Herba, and Chaenomelis Fructus showed anti-HIV-1 activity and their SI value were 2.25 to 5.77. In addition, among 119 boiling water extracts, 10 extracts from Lonicerae Caulis et Foloium, Elsholtziae Herba, Leonuri Herba, Portulacae Herba, Schizonepetae Herba, Curcumae Rhizoma, Amomi Cardamomi Fructus, Cirsii Radix et Herba, Carpesii Herba, and Siegesbeckiae Herba showed anti-HIV-1 activity and their SI value were 1.30 to 7.64. Methanol extracts of above seven natural products were fractionated and the anti-HIV-1 activity of each fraction was examined. Extraction was carried out with hexane, chloroform, butanol, and water to trace active anti-HIV-1 componets. As a result, the water fraction of Magnoliae Cortex, Machili Cortex, Reynoutriae Rhizoma, Agastachis Herba, Chaenomelis Fructus and the butanol fraction of Chrysanthemi Indicium Flos, Reynoutriae Rhizoma showed anti-HIV-1 activity and their SI value were 1.40 to 8.02. We could reach a conclusion that studies to trace the anti-HIV-1 active component of each natural products in further fractionation and to identify its structure by Infrared spectroscopy, NMR spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography were needed.

Methamphetamine (MA) is currently the most abused illicit drug in Korea. MA is produced by chemical synthesis, and the final target drug that is produced contains small amounts of the precursor chemicals, intermediates, and by-products. To identify and quantify these trace compounds in MA seizures, a practical and feasible approach for conducting chromatographic fingerprinting with a suite of traditional chemometric methods and recently introduced machine learning approaches was examined. This was achieved using gas chromatography (GC) coupled with a flame ionization detector (FID) and mass spectrometry (MS). Following appropriate examination of all the peaks in 71 samples, 166 impurities were selected as the characteristic components. Unsupervised (principal component analysis (PCA), hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA), and K-means clustering) and supervised (partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA), orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA), support vector machines (SVM), and deep neural network (DNN) with Keras) chemometric techniques were employed for classifying the 71 MA seizures. The results of the PCA, HCA, K-means clustering, PLS-DA, OPLS-DA, SVM, and DNN methods for quality evaluation were in good agreement. However, the tested MA seizures possessed distinct features, such as chirality, cutting agents, and boiling points. The study indicated that the established qualitative and semi-quantitative methods will be practical and useful analytical tools for characterizing trace compounds in illicit MA seizures. Moreover, they will provide a statistical basis for identifying the synthesis route, sources of supply, trafficking routes, and connections between seizures, which will support drug law enforcement agencies in their effort to eliminate organized MA crime.

An implementation method of real-time numeral recognizer based on gesture is presented in this paper for various information devices. The proposed algorithm steadily captures the motion of a hand on 3D open space with the Kinect sensor. The captured hand motion is simplified with PCA, in order to preserve the trace consistency and to minimize the trace variations due to noises and size changes. In addition, we also propose a new HMM using both the gradient and the positional features of the simplified hand stroke. As the result, the proposed algorithm has robust characteristics to the variations of the size and speed of hand motion. The recognition rate is increased up to 30%, because of this combined model. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm gives a high recognition rate about 98%.
In order to elucidate the taste compounds of Korean catfish, Parasilurus asotus, free amino acids, nucleotides and their related compounds, organic bases, sugars, organic acids and minerals in the extracts of Korean catfish were analyzed, and then evaluated by sensory test of synthetic extract prepared on the basis of the analytical data. Taste panel assessments of synthetic extracts prepared with each extractive component omitted were carried out by a triangle difference test, and changes in taste profile were assessed. In free amino acid composition, glycine was dominant occupying $25\%$ of total free amino acids. The other abundant free amino acids were lysine, taurine and alanine. Judging from the result of analysis of nucleotides, IMP was dominant showing about $70\%$ of total nucleotides while ATP, ADP, AMP, inosine and hypoxanthine were low in content. Among organic bases, total creatinine was abundant and its nitrogen content occupied more than $50\%$ of the total extractive nitrogen. The amount of betaine was 18mg/100g and trace amount of trimethylamine and trimethylamine oxide were detected. The main organic acids were succinic, butyric, propionic and valeric acid. On the other hand, oxalic, fumaric, maleic, tartaric and citric acids were analyzed in trace. As for the sugars, glucose was found to be the most abundant monosaccharide. Extremely small amounts of fructoae, inositol were also detected and ribose and arabinose were trace in content. $K^+,\;Na^+,\;PO_{4}^{3-}$ and $Cl^-$ were found to be the major ions and small amount of $Ca^{2+}$ were defected. The synthetic extract, prepared with about 40 pure chemicals based on the analytical data satisfactorily revealed the natural taste of the original extract except slight difference in meaty taste and mildness. From the results of omission test the major components which contribute to produce the taste were serine, IMP, succinic acid and $PO_{4}^{3-}$.
We examined component analysis and lead isotope ratio analysis to find out the relationship between the excavation and the production site of 25 bronze weapons from prehistoric ages. All 25 bronze weapons are ternary alloys of copper-tin-lead and lead is artificially added. The lead isotope ratios of 25 bronze weapons show that bronze are made by raw materials in the southern regions of the Korean Peninsula, including northern China. The raw materials of narrow-shaped bronze dagger are supplied in zone 1-3 and northern China. In addition, provenance of lead for bronze halberd and pearhead are the rest of the region except for zone 1 and zone 4. Silver are enriched in most samples and zinc and cobalt are deficient. Arsenic and antimony detected only specific samples and can be used as critical parameter for provenance study. Lead isotopes and trace elements of archaeological bronzes will provide conservation scientist with useful tool to study the provenance of raw materials

The purpose of this study is to compare the usefulness between Gaussian dispersion model and receptor model with the experimental result of the dispersion tracing of the particulate pollutants from Taean coal-fired power plants. For this purpose, the component analysis of the collected PM 10 samples was performed. In order to trace the pollution sources, factor analysis was done with the result of the component analysis. As a result of the correlativity analysis of the fifteen power plants' profiles offered by US EPA, the correlativity of No.11202 source profile showed highest rate up to 84.5%. Thus it was adopted as proper one and the contribution rate by each pollution source was calculated by Chemical Mass Balance (CMB)-8 model. The contribution rate, which was the effect rate of the power plants on each measuring point, were calculated with a range of 24∼52% and the standard error was below 0.9 $\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥. This indicates the selection of the source profile was appropriate. Also, the concentrations of each point were calculated by the ISCST3 which is suggested by US EPA as one of the regulatory Gaussian dispersion model. The calculation result showed that the predicted concentration was 50∼58 $\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥, comparing with the measured result of 9∼65 $\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥. It was found that the concentration calculated by ISCST3 was underpredicted. It was thought that the receptor model was more favorable than the Gaussian dispersion model in estimating the effect of the particulate matter on a certain receptive point.
We present a robust face tracking system from the sequence of video images based on effective detector and Kalman filter. To construct the effective face detector, we extract the face features using the five types of simple Haar-like features. Extracted features are reinterpreted using Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and interpreted principal components are used for Support Vector Machine (SVM) that classifies the faces and non-faces. We trace the moving face with Kalman filter, which uses the static information of the detected faces and the dynamic information of changes between previous and current frames. To make a real-time tracking system, we reduce processing time by adjusting the frequency of face detection. In this experiment, the proposed system showed an average tracking rate of 95.5% and processed at 15 frames per second. This means the system is robust enough to track faces in real-time.
