A Beoseonbongip is a pouch that holds patterns for making Beoseons. This study aimed to identify the aesthetic and symbolic contents of the embroidery patterns by analyzing the kind, combination types, expression and arrangement types of patterns. In total, 140 Beoseonbongip artifacts, which were mostly made in the Joseon Dynasty, were quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed. The results indicated that about 83% of the total had flower patterns. Various kinds of embroidery patterns used for Beoseonbongips were newly identified. About 73% of the total had different kinds of patterns. Pattern combination types were identified by the kinds of patterns, the number of paired patterns, and the traditional painting styles used. The patterns of Beoseonbongips were expressed schematically more than realistically or abstractly. Beoseonbongips with different patterns on the four triangle tips of the front face and Beoseonbongips with the same/similar patterns on two opposite tips of the front face were observed more than the other types. On the back face, the embroidery patterns were symmetrically arranged, showing various division structures. It was inferred that wishes (e.g., marital harmony, fertility, good health and longevity, happiness, and wealth and fame) were expressed through the symbolic patterns embroidered on the Beoseonbongips. In terms of Korean traditional beauty, the union with nature, the harmony of yin and yang, symmetric balance, and neatness were also emphasized as a esthetic characteristics of Beoseonbongips.
Altitudinal patterns of plant species richness and the effects of area, the mid-domain effect, climatic variables, net primary productivity and latitude on observed richness patterns along the ridge of the Baekdudaegan Mountains, South Korea were studied. Data were collected from 1,100 plots along a 200 to 1,900 m altitudinal gradient on the ridge. A total of 802 plant species from 97 families and 342 genera were recorded. Common and rare species accounted for 91% and 9%, respectively, of the total plant species. The altitudinal patterns of species richness for total, common and rare plants showed distinctly hump-shaped patterns, although the absolute altitudes of the richness peaks varied somewhat among plant groups. The mid-domain effect was the most powerful explanatory variable for total and common species richness, whereas climatic variables were better predictors for rare plant richness. No effect of latitude on species richness was observed. Our study suggests that the mid-domain effect is a better predictor for wide-ranging species such as common species, whereas climatic variables are more important factors for range-restricted species such as rare species. The mechanisms underlying these richness patterns may reflect fundamental differences in the biology and ecology of different plant groups.
Objectives: Young children's feeding characteristics can play an important role in eating habits and health during later childhood. This study was conducted to examine the associations of feeding characteristics with dietary patterns and obesity in children. Methods: This study utilized data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted between 2013 and 2017. In total, 802 toddlers were included, with information on their demographic characteristics, feeding practices and duration, and 24-hour recall obtained from their parents. Feeding characteristics were categorized into feeding type, duration of total breastfeeding, duration of total formula feeding, duration of exclusive breastfeeding, and age when starting formula feeding. Dietary patterns were identified based on factor loadings for the food groups for 3 major factors, with "vegetables & traditional," "fish & carbohydrates," and "sweet & fat" patterns. Overweight/obesity was defined as ≥85th percentile in body mass index based on the 2017 Korean National Growth charts for children and adolescents. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine associations between feeding characteristics and dietary patterns. The association between dietary patterns and obesity was analyzed using multivariable logistic regression analysis. Results: The early introduction of formula feeding was inversely associated with the "vegetables & traditional" pattern (β=-0.18; 95% confidence interval [CI], -0.34 to -0.02). A higher "vegetables & traditional" intake was associated with a lower risk of obesity (odds ratio, 0.48; 95% CI, 0.24 to 0.95). Conclusions: Feeding characteristics are associated with dietary patterns in later childhood, and dietary patterns were shown to have a potential protective association against obesity.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the structure and properties of the patterns by extracting the general patterns on socio-economic development from huge data by statistical analysis. We collected data concerning socio-logical, economical and technological aspects. Indicators used for this study amounted to a total of 136, and among them 39 were on science & technology. What is more, these indicators were set up with the resent data for the first half of the 1970's mainly, and 141 nations were selected as the sample. Some rinkage patterns to the total indicators were abstracted by cluster analysis based on the correlation matrix. And some rinkage patterns to the total countries were educed by applying cluster analysis of centroid method to the respective indicators.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the eating habits and food intake patterns to elucidate the relationship between on blood lipid levels. The subjects based on the nutrition counseling data of medical health examination. The subjects were 774 adults(448 males and 326 females). Survey samples were divided by age $65\leq$ years. The subjects were 774 adults(448 males and 327 females). Survey samples were divided by age $65\leq$ years. Blood samples were analyzed for total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides(TG), LDL-cholesterol. The results showed there were significant difference frequency of overeating meal and total cholesterol(p<0.05), meal frequency, regularity of meals, frequency of meal out, eating breakfast, speed of meal et eating habits and blood lipid levels not significant difference. However, food intake patterns were significant difference in some kind of food such butter and cream bakery but there were not significant relationships between eggs, cod roe, Chinese foods, fried foods, Gal-bi-tang, Sun-ji-soup and blood lipid levels. Eating habits and food intake patterns was do not seem to be cause for blood lipid level in Korean elderly.
CKP isoenzymes have a high level of efficaciousness as diagnostic and prognostic aids in various diseases. There is not any report on the total activity of CPK of non-human primates, let alone CPK isoenzyme patterns, in Korea. In this study, total activities and isoenzyme patterns of CPK were measured to obtain their reference values in domestically reared common marmosets, crab-eating macaques and Japanese macaques. We observed remarkable different values of serum total CPK from the primates used in this experiment. Serum CPK activities of Japanese macaques and crab-eating macaques were 275.8$\pm$158.1 IU/l and 396.7$\pm$697.4 IU/l, respectively, whereas those of common marmosets showed much higher value of 618.8$\pm$1,117.6 IU/l. In all common marmosets and crab-eating macaques, only CPK$_3$ ws observed. In five out of eight Japanese macaques, CPK$_3$ was the sole fraction but two animals showed CPK$_1$ and CPK$_3$ isoenzymes, and the remaining one had CPK$_2$ and CPK$_3$ fractions. There were some discrepancies in the pattern and ratio of isoenzyme fractions in Japanese macaques. In conclusion, values such as CPK and CPK isoenzyme patterns of investigated for the first time form non-human primates reared in Korea, could be reference values for the optimal diagnosis and therapy diseases of the corresponding animal species.
This study is to examine the characteristics of fabrics in Koryo dynasty by reviewing the fabrics for enshrining oblations inside a buddhist statue in MoonSoo temple, which are currently possessed in SooDuk temple. The research results follows : The fabrics are 33 pieces in total : 28 Pieces of normal fabrics, 5 pieces of fabrics that is used for covering the five grains, and others like variegated silk threads. Out of 33 pieces of fabrics are there 31 pieces of silk and 2 pieces of ramie. The tabby fabrics, which have the most pieces among the fabrics, are 11 pieces in total. There are 1 piece of designed tabby fabri. whose patterns are expressed by dyeing. as well as non-designed tabby fabric. The twill fabrics are 8 pieces in total. Its patterns are mainly the type that small patterns are consecutively reiterated. And they have various patterns including plant patterns, such as lotus pattern, flower pattern. etc., animal patterns such as dragon pattern. etc., geometric patterns. such as turtoise-shell pattern. swastika, etc. The leno and gauze fabrics are 1 piece of 4-end complex designed-gauze and 1 piece of gill gauze. The compound woven fabrics are 2 pieces of brocaded gauze and 3 pieces of brocaded twill. Brocaded gauze is a kind of brocaded fabrics and is made by adding a gold thread between wefts of already weaved gauze. The figured fabrics are 1 piece of tabby fabric, 6 pieces of twill fabrics, 4 pieces of leno and gauze fabrics, and 5 pieces of compound woven fabrics. All of them are 16 pieces out of all 33 pieces and amount to almost 50%. Single-patterned fabrics, that is one pattern is expressed individually, are much more than any others. Plant patterns are the ones that are used the most.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the design components of wedding dresses and develop wedding nail art based on this for total wedding styling that reflects the changing needs of consumers. As a research method, 750 dress photos posted on the wedding platform Wedding Friends were analyzed for patterns, decorative details, and images of the wedding dress, and nail art designs were developed based on the results. As a result of the analysis, there were many natural patterns of flowers and plants, no patterns, and geometric patterns, and the arrangement of patterns was the most common. Looking at the decorative details, there were many wrinkle details, slits, and cutouts such as flounce, frill, and ruffle, and there were many lace, sequins, and spangles in trimming. The application area of the decorative detail was concentrated on the entire dress or neckline. Based on the analysis results, five wedding nail art pieces suitable for total wedding styling were developed. Three works of the concept of "Elegant Bride" used the patterns and sparkling trimming of the wedding dress, and two works of the concept of "romantic moment" used voluminous embosses to express romantic sensibilities in 2D and 3D forms. Through this study, we were able to confirm the importance and value of nail art in total wedding styling and are expected to contribute to the development of creative nail art.
Mothers with cerebral palsy children have much stress that is related to the care of children with cerebral palsy and to other household duties, and this state of the mother has an effect on the cerebral palsy child and on other household member. Mothers in such stressful situations use various coping patterns. The purpose of this study was as follows : to develop instruments that can be used for measuring the stress and coping patterns of mothers with cerebral palsy children, and to test a hypothetical model on the relationship between the mother's stress, her coping patterns and the variable affecting the stress and coping patterns. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. The stress scale was composed of 44 items and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .94, and the coping pattern scale was composed of 19 items and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was .80. The mean score of stress scale was 136.12 out of a total of 220, and the mean score of the coping scale was 72.87 in a total of 95. 2. In test of the hypothetical model, it was found that extra-care demand, the support of the husband, the degree of handicap, health status and self-esteem had statistically significant influence on the mother's stress(r=.285, -.262, -.133, -.126). And the support of the husband, formal support, informal support, and economic status were found to have statitically significant influence on the mother's coping patterns(r=.412, .178, .178, .138).
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Dietary pattern and its association with cardio-cerebrovascular disease have not been studied in Baoji city by now. This study was aimed to identify the dietary patterns among Chinese adults in Baoji, and explore the association between these dietary patterns and cardio-cerebrovascular disease. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A total of 4,968 participants were included in this study at 12 counties. With multistage stratified random sampling and semi quantitative food frequency questionnaire, the prevalence of cardio-cerebrovascular disease and dietary intake were investigated in 2013. We used factor analysis to establish dietary patterns. RESULTS: A total of 4,968 participants over 15 years old were included in this study. Five dietary patterns were identified in Baoji: protein, balanced, beans, prudent, and traditional patterns. The protein dietary pattern mainly included animal and plant proteins and was negatively associated with hypertension as well as stroke. The balanced pattern included carbohydrates, protein, and fat and was negatively associated with hypertension as well as stroke. The beans pattern was mainly beans and beans products and was negatively associated with hypertension. The prudent pattern only included staple foods and pickled vegetables and was positively associated with hypertension as well as coronary heart disease. The traditional pattern was representative of local Baoji traditional recipes and was positively associated with hypertension. CONCLUSIONS: The protein, balanced, and beans dietary patterns showed many protective effects on cardio-cerebrovascular disease. Based on these results, Baoji city residents should be encouraged to choose protein, balanced, and beans dietary patterns and abandon prudent and traditional patterns to prevent incidence of hypertension, coronary heart disease, and stroke.
