6시그마 성공요인이 직무만족과 품질성과에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Success Factors of Six Sigma on Job Satisfaction and Quality Performance)

  • This study is an empirical study on the relationships among success factors of six sigma(support of top management, education and training, performance-based reward, customer and quality focused thought), job satisfaction, and quality performance. In particular, mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between success factors of six sigma and quality performance is empirically analysed to find causes and impacts among these variables. A survey was conducted on the employees working in 'H' company which is applying six sigma at Ulsan City. The survey questionnaires were sent to 300 people and 216 of them were returned. Data obtained was analyzed with SPSS 18.0. The study results are as follows: First, there were positive relationships between critical success factors of six sigma(except support of top management) and job satisfaction. Second, there was also a positive relationship between job satisfaction and quality performance. Third, there were also positive relationships between critical success factors of six sigma(except support of top management) and quality performance. Finally, job satisfaction were full mediating effects on the relationship between critical success factors of six sigma(education and training, performance-based reward) and quality performance. Critical success factors of six sigma(customer and quality focused thought) had a partial mediating effect on quality performance. On the other hand, support of top management had no mediating effect on quality performance.

A Study on the Progress of e-Trade and the Factor of the Adoption of bolero.net in Japan

  • In recent years, although far behind, the "e-Trade (B to G)" is propelled vigorously in Japan. But the diffusion of the "e-Trade" among companies (B to B) represented by bolero.net does not meet expectation. This paper carried out the questionnaire survey to the enterprises, which adopt bolero.net and examined why the diffusion is stagnated to the measures for its future spread. As a result, the top 3 adoption factors are: (1) Transaction climate, (2) Top management support, and (3) Operational improvement. In other words, it depends that top management has the will, which adopts e-trade positively among the reliable business partners and the operational performances can improve efficiently by carrying e-trade. We would like to clarify what will be crucial to spur the diffusion in the future. Based on the findings from the result, the concrete key points to promote the spread are to be indicated as follows: (1) Improve the scores of "Cost" and "Competitive pressure" (2) Improve the institutional factor.

  • Poor safety management in construction management may adversely affect cost, schedule and quality of a project. Heavy fines upon safety offence becomes a burden to the budget; losing working hours as a result of safety incident impacts on the schedule, and compromising quality is always an indirect consequence when workers perform duties in an unsafe site environment. Therefore, promotion of safety management becomes the top priority in any construction manager's agenda. Working safely will benefit construction project and lead to a "real" success. This paper is a case study, based upon "Geller's 10 principles for achieving a total safety culture", reviewing how a Hong Kong leading construction company fosters the safety culture and possesses a pleasant safety record over years. Its safety performance is not only well ahead the local industry, but also ranges top within the Asia Pacific region and comparable to those mature Western industries. The review concluded that safety culture is one of the major components in construction management and collaboration is the essence to realize this positive culture within an organization. Safety management is not merely a "top down" approach, but requires the positive "bottom up" actions from the other end. The successful story of this company can demonstrate the contribution of safety management in construction management.

명예산업안전감독관 제도의 운영현황 및 개선방향 (The Improvement Direction of the Honorary Industrial Safety Supervisor System)

  • Though the Honorary Industrial Safety Supervisor System was activated from 1995, the system did not show the better effectiveness due to the unconcern of top management and the insufficient support of government etc. The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems of the system and to present the improvement direction of that system. The research result points out that we have to consider the following countermeasures; First, the government should make up the support system by a law dealing with proper compensation and professional education for the supervisor, and tax reduction for companies. Second, the companies should make an effort firming up the safety consciousness of top management, and strengthening the employees' concern about safety through continuous safety education and campaign by a labor union, and promoting the supervisor's pride through recognition from top management and other employees.

  • Top music 10 is a additional service product of the A mobile telephone company. Up to now, A company is just selling it by outbound TM to customers which visit any contents of Top Music 10. In this paper, we proposed a targeting method combining two score models by data mining. The proposed combining model is to find customers more likely to respond to outbound TM. The proposed targeting method is expected to improve both from 32.8% to 44.0% in the response rate and from 54.7% to 61.4% in the retention rate.

  • On BIPV systems, especially roof-top PV systems, the power generation is easier to be reduced due to the shades of facilities nearby, or roof itself. To secure profitability of roof-top PV systems, the optimal design of solar arrays through the precise shading analysis is an important item of design considerations. In this paper, an optimization system for array design of roof-top PVs is to be developed using three-dimensional Geospatial Information System(GIS). The profitability of income and expense is considered through the shading analysis of entire roofs. By applying the system to project for validation, the adequacy and the improvement of NPV of the system were verified compared to expert's design. The system has significance by reason that PV modules are placed through rules established with expert knowledge and geometric rules were applied to reflect the constructability and maintainability.

Three Effective Top-Down Clustering Algorithms for Location Database Systems

  • Recent technological advances in mobile communication systems have made explosive growth in the number of mobile device users worldwide. One of the most important issues in designing a mobile computing system is location management of users. The hierarchical systems had been proposed to solve the scalability problem in location management. The scalability problem occurs when there are too many users for a mobile system to handle, as the system is likely to react slow or even get down due to late updates of the location databases. In this paper, we propose a top-down clustering algorithm for hierarchical location database systems in a wireless network. A hierarchical location database system employs a tree structure. The proposed algorithm uses a top-down approach and utilizes the number of visits to each cell made by the users along with the movement information between a pair of adjacent cells. We then present a modified algorithm by incorporating the exhaustive method when there remain a few levels of the tree to be processed. We also propose a capacity constraint top-down clustering algorithm for more realistic environments where a database has a capacity limit. By the capacity of a database we mean the maximum number of mobile device users in the cells that can be handled by the database. This algorithm reduces a number of databases used for the system and improves the update performance. The experimental results show that the proposed, top-down, modified top-down, and capacity constraint top-down clustering algorithms reduce the update cost by 17.0%, 18.0%, 24.1%, the update time by about 43.0%, 39.0%, 42.3%, respectively. The capacity constraint algorithm reduces the average number of databases used for the system by 23.9% over other algorithms.

빅데이터 성공에 최고경영층 리더십이 미치는 영향: 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on the Effects of Top Management Leadership for Big Data Success)

  • 최근 빅데이터에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있지만 그 성공 여부의 불확실성에 대한 우려도 깊어지고 있다. 이 연구는 빅데이터 성공에 미치는 최고경영층 리더십의 영향을 이론적으로 도출하고 그 타당성을 실증 분석하였다. 국내외 선행 연구를 토대로 빅데이터 성공 단계를 빅데이터 도입, 분석, 유용한 아이디어 발견, 현업 활용, 효과 창출 5단계로 조명하였다. 그리고 5개 단계에서 작용하는 최고경영층 리더십의 영향을 (1) 빅데이터 투자에 미치는 영향, (2) 빅데이터 투자와 아이디어 유용성 사이의 상관관계에 미치는 조절효과, (3) 아이디어 유용성과 현업 활용 사이의 상관관계에 미치는 조절효과 3개 가설로 제시하였다. 빅데이터를 도입한 국내 기업 및 공공기관을 대상으로 설문조사를 수행하였으며, 통계 분석 결과 최고경영층 리더십이 빅데이터 성공 과정 전반에 걸쳐 다양한 형태로 작용하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이 연구는 빅데이터 성공에 대한 중요한 역할과 책임이 최고경영층에게 있음을 시사하고 있다.

  • 국가경쟁력에 있어서 '과학기술'의 위상은 더욱 커지고 있다. 주요국들은 자국의 과학기술역량 확대를 위하여 많은 노력을 기하고 있으며, 과학기술분야 핵심인재 확보는 이러한 노력의 주요한 한 축을 담당하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 핵심 과학기술인재에 대한 기업의 수요 및 기대를 파악하고, 기업이 필요로 하는 과학기술인재의 모습 및 역할을 사례 분석을 통해 살펴보았다. 그리고 과학기술 핵심인재 양성과 활용을 위한 공학교육 및 인재관리에 대한 시사점을 제시하고 있다.
