This study was to evaluate the change of mineral loss of fTCP and CPP-ACP in artificial caries lesions using QLF-D to compare the remineralization effect of recently developed fTCP and CPP-ACP, which is widely used as a remineralization cream in current dental clinics. Bovine specimens used in this study formed the artificial caries lesion immersing in demineralization solution for 10 days and were divided randomly into the following two groups; Group 1- Tooth Mousse containing 10% CPP-ACP, Group 2- Clinpro Tooth Creme containing 950ppm NaF and fTCP. Two tooth paste were applied to the artificial caries lesion of specimens and they were immersed in artificial saliva for 1 week. Mineral loss of artificial caries lesion was evaluated by fluorescence loss (${\Delta}F$) values using QLF-D. QLF-D analysis showed that the ${\Delta}F$ and ${\Delta}Fmax$ value increased 2.65 and 6.63, respectively, in the Tooth Mousse group, and the mineral loss decreased statistically significantly(p<0.05). However, Clinpro Tooth Creme group had no statistically significant difference. ${\Delta}Fmax$ value of Tooth Mousse group was statistically significant difference compared to the Clinpro Tooth Creme. Therefore, the Tooth Mousse containing 10% CPP-ACP is more effective than Clinpro Tooth Creme containing fTCP in the treatment of remineralization of artificial caries lesions.
Objectives: This study investigated the removal efficacy and cytotoxicity of a newly developed calcium hydroxide paste (cleaniCal, Maruchi) using N-2-methyl-pyrrolidone (NMP) as a vehicle in comparison with ApexCal (Ivoclar Vivadent) and Calcipex II (Nishika), which use different vehicles such as polyethylene glycol and propylene glycol, respectively. Materials and Methods: Thirty maxillary premolars with oval-shaped canals were divided into 3 groups and the teeth were filled with one of the pastes. After removal of the paste, micro-computed tomographic (${\mu}$-CT) imaging was obtained to assess the volume of residual paste in the root canal of each tooth. The teeth were then split longitudinally and the area of the paste-coated surface was evaluated by stereomicroscopy. The cytotoxicity of each product was assessed using an agar overlay assay. The effect of each vehicle on cell viability was evaluated using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's tests to detect any significance (p < 0.05). Results: In the ${\mu}$-CT and stereomicroscopic analysis, cleaniCal exhibited less remnants of medicament than ApexCal and Calcipex. cleaniCal showed a higher cytotoxicity than the other pastes in the agar overlay assay. Furthermore, NMP exhibited lower cell viability compared to the other vehicles. Conclusions: cleaniCal showed better removal efficacy compared to the other products. However, clinicians should be aware of the higher cytotoxicity of the NMP-based material and consider its possible adverse effects on periradicular tissue when it is overfilled.

An immature tooth with infected pulp has numerous potential complications. Conventional apexification with calcium hydroxide has several disadvantages, including susceptibility to tooth fracture. This method does not promote continual root development. Pulp revascularization of a necrotic, immature permanent tooth will allow further development of the root and dentinal structure. Disinfection of the root canal system is a prerequisite for pulp revascularization and tissue regeneration. A combination of antibiotic drugs (ciprofloxacin, metronidazole, and minocycline) is effective for disinfection of necrotic pulp, and has been used successfully in regenerative endodontic treatment. These case reports involve the treatment of 3 immature permanent teeth with necrotic pulp using a 3-Mix paste and mineral trioxide aggregate. All cases showed the notable apical maturation with closure of the apex and increased thickness of dentinal walls. This approach suggests a paradigm shift in treating endodontically involved immature permanent teeth from the traditional apexification with calcium hydroxide to the conservative approach by providing a favorable environment for tissue regeneration.
The auther has made an epidemiological study on the oral examination and oral health in 226 Korea Military Nursing School Students. The following results was obtained: 1. The prevalance rate of dental caries was 71.23%. 2. The prevalance rate of D.M.F. was 45.82%. 3. The tooth health index was 77.87%. 4. The prevalance distribution of dental caries was 63.87% in the mandibular and 36.13% in the maxila. 5. Of examined students, 94.0% was brushing twice per day and 6.0% once per day. 6. Of examined students, 98.2% was using the paste form on dentifrice and tooth brush. 7. Of examined students, 22.1% was ignorant of causes of dental caries.
A revascularization procedure was shown to be the best alternative therapy for immature teeth with necrotic pulp and apical infection. A 12 year old female with a history of trauma to her upper central incisor and a sinus tract was referred for endodontic treatment. She was an active orthodontic patient and had undergone regenerative endodontic treatment for the past 2 years. Clinical examination revealed no response to sensibility, percussion, and palpation tests. The preoperative radiograph showed an open apex and apical rarefaction. The case was diagnosed as previously treated tooth with asymptomatic apical periodontitis. Regenerative endodontic retreatment was performed, and the case was followed for 3 years. Clinical, radiographic, and cone-beam computed tomography follow-up examination revealed an asymptomatic tooth, with evidence of periapical healing and root maturation.
When full denture is being fabricated, pronounciation, recovery of aesthetics of function and mastificatory function should be satisfies for patients. To satisfy for the function of denture, following is the difference between this new way of fabricating and formerly one of it. 1. The size of fabricating tooth which is harmony of original oral structure for patients is deaded by manufacturing labial index and artificial tongue. 2. By the use of artificial tongue and labial index, the arranges of artificial tooth is to become harmony of oral structure. 3. Formation of gingival decided functional impression which is used by impression paste, is harmony of oral structure. Therefore, this full denture can be satisfied with pronouncing oral function of recovery of aesthetics as well as mastificatory through physiological movement of oral tissue not disturbed with anything but cooperated drastically. In manufacturing of this full denture, both dentist and dental technician under cooperation need to proceed the work on the base of importance of communication.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of toothpaste containing hydroxyapatite for patients who complained dental hypersensitivity. Before baseline of application of toothpaste with hydroxyapatite, tooth brushing instruction was done respectively and the several indices were measured at baseline, 2, 4, 8 weeks. Clinical indices were estimated, and responses to cold, compressive air, tactile stimulus were evaluated with verbal rating score. Relief effects and visual analogue scale were also evaluated. The results of this study were as follows 1. The occurrence rate of hypersensitivity in upper jaw was higher than that of lower jaws, and molar area showed more hypersensitivity than premolar and incisor area. Buccal site was hypersensitive followed by interproximal and lingual site. 2. Plaque index, gingival index and probing depth reduction were gradually improved after Tooth Brushing Instruction and using toothpaste. 3. Subjects showed most sensitive response to cold stimuli than compressive air and tactile stimuli. 4. The relief effect was increased during using tooth paste and complete relief was increased especially at 8 weeks. 5. Visual analogue scale was increased. In conclusion, it was confirmed that toothpaste containing microcrystalline hydroxyapatite have the relief effect of tooth hypersensitivity. During 8 weeks, stimulus responses were decreased and hypersensitivity relief effect was increased.

This study aimed to enhance the physicochemical properties of sodium iodide-based root filling materials, particularly solubility. In earlier developmental stages, the iodoform-containing paste exhibited high antibacterial efficacy but failed to meet only the solubility requirement among the ISO 6876 criteria. Therefore, this study focused on enhancing the physicochemical properties of the paste under development, particularly centering on reducing its solubility. Four experimental groups were established, including three control group. The previously developed D30 paste was named the Oil 33 group, and the control group was named the Vitapex® group. The Oil 50 group, in which the oil content was increased, and the Oil 45L group, in which lanolin was incorporated. The physical properties (solubility, pH, flowability, and film thickness) of the four pastes were evaluated according to the ISO 6876 standards. No significant differences were observed between the Oil 45L and Vitapex® groups in any of the physical property evaluations. While the Oil 33 and Oil 50 groups met the ISO 6876 standards for flowability and film thickness, the Oil 45L group met all the physical properties. However, reducing the overall oil content may be necessary to enhance the antimicrobial properties. The result of the physicochemical experiments showed that the Oil 45L group with the newly formulated composition and incorporated lanolin exhibited low solubility meeting the ISO 6876 standard of ≤ 3%. We were able to develop a paste with more stable solubility than previous iodide-based root-filling materials. Therefore, the oil content must be further adjusted to improve its antimicrobial properties. If other physical properties also meet the ISO 6876 standards and demonstrate excellent results in cytotoxicity tests, this root filling material could potentially replace existing options.
