2-Chloroethyl Phosphonic Acid가 잎담배 조열에 미치는 영향 (Accelerating Effect of 2-Chloroethyl Phosphonic Acid Foliar Applications on Leaf Tobacco Maturity)

  • Cultivar Yeollow Special A, the most leading Korean economic leaf tobacco in Korea, were field-cultivated in four different localities of Korea for the period of two years (1970 and 1971) and sprayed at varied levels of 2-chloroethyl phosphonic acid (CEPA) for foliar application few days after topping. While no striking difference in leaf yield by weight was obtained among the treatments when compared with control, leaf quality as expressed for shipment price in won tended when compared with control, leaf quality as expressed for shipment price in won tended to improve. The treated leaves with 300 to 900 ppm of CEPA (approximately 140 1/acre of 500 ppm) not only showed yellowing and accelerated maturity to pick 4 to 5 days with practicable optimal level earlier than control, but also speeded up to take nearly with practicable optimal level earlier than control, but also speeded up to take nearly last half of the total time required for the five stages of flue-curing. It is therefore considered that CEPA is as effective maturity-accelerating agent and useful as known for other solanaceous plants showing climacteric stage respiration, and discussions were made about physiological actions of ethylene gas released from CEPA at plant tissues sprayed.

재식밀도와 요소시비량이 버어리종 잎담배의 수량과 품질에 미치는 영향 (EFFECTS OF PLANT SPACING AND UREA SUPPLEMENT ON THE YIELD AND QUALITY OF BURLEY TOBACCO LEAVES)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of plant density and urea supplement on the yield, quality, value and total nitrogen, alkaloid contents of burley tobacco leaves. The results were as fellows; As urea supplement were increased from 0kg/10a to 50kg/10a, yield, total alkaloid, total nitrogen of cured leaf were significantly increased. The lower plant density levels also increased dry weight and leaf area per plant. Price of cured leaves were not influenced by plant density and amounts of urea supplemented. The effects of plant density and urea supplement on the number of leaves were not detected.

버어리종 잎담배 대말림시 수평대걸기에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Horizontal Hanging Method in Burley Tobacco Stalk-curing)

  • This study was carried out to develop a new stalk curing of the horizontal hanging method that would reduce the harvesting and curing labor, and improve its quality of cured leaf than the conventional stalk curing method in burley tobacco. The horizontal hanging stalk-curing method designed from 1988 was compared with the conventional method. The horizontal method shortened the curing Period for 7 days and reduced to 0.3%, while it occurred 9.4% in the vertical method. In the horizontal method, the quality of cured leaf improved 9%, but the contents of chemical components and physical properties were similar to those of vertical method. The labor of stalk-cut and loading in curing facility reduced 28% by the horizontal method. In harvesting and curing process, the horizontal method resulted 12% of labor saving as compared with the vertical method. 오리엔트종 연초의 생육 및 화학특성에 미치는 이식시기의 영향 (Growth and Chemical Properties of Oriental Tobacco as affected by Transplanting Time)

  • Oriental tobacco (KA 101) was transplanted from Mar. 25 to May 5 with 10 days interval in 1984 and 1985, and its agronomic characteristics, chemical properties ware compared to determine the Proper transplanting time of aromatic tobacco In Korea. As the transplanting was delayed, days to flowering of plant was shortened, length and width of largest leaf, leaf area index tended to decrease. Yield was highest for the Apr. 5th transplanting followed by Mar. 25th planting, then decreased as the planting date was delayed. Quality by price decreased as the transplanting was delayed later than Apr. 25. Delaying transplanting increased nicotine, total nitrogen and ash content, but decreased reducing sugar and petroleum ether extract of cured leaves, The content of volatile organic acids such as 3-methyl pentanoic acid was lower when it was transplanted later than Apr. 25th. Neophytadiene content increased as the transplanting was delayed, but there were no trends with the content of alcohols, aldehydes esters and ketones. Several quality indices including the ratio between the content of volatile organic acids plus petroleum ether extract and ash content plus pH was higher for the Apr. 5th transplanting.

향끽미종 연초건조중 온도차가 건조엽의 특성에 미치는 영향 (INFLUENCE OF CURING TEMPERATURE ON CHARACTERISTICS OF ORIENTAL-TYPE TOBACCO)

  • During curing of aromatic tobacco leaves, coloring temperatures were set at 26, 30, 34, 38 and $42^{\circ}C$, and also leaf drying temperatures were established at 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and $60^{\circ}C$, respectively, to investigate the thermal effect on characteristics of cured leaves. Appearance of yellow color from green was accelerated, the contents of non-volatile organic and higher fatty acids in leaves tended to increase with the higher yellowing temperature. Quality by price per kg was best at 45-$50^{\circ}C$ and score of smoking test was highest at 40-$50^{\circ}C$ during leaf drying stage. The concentrations of non-volatile organic acids and volatile essential oil inclined to decrease, but a reverse in this trend with higher fatty acids as temperature increased during leaf drying stage. The difference of other components was discussed.

부적합 엽맥편이 궐련의 연소중 물리적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of the Objectionable Stems on the Physical Characteristics during the Cigarette Combustion)

  • In order to improve the final product quality, tobacco industry has gradually decreased the size and number of steams in the cigarette. Especially, steams bigger than $3{\times}3$ mm($length{\times}thickness$) and $2{\times}10$ mm($width{\times}length$) are not acceptable in the process as objectionable stems. A total number of 12 samples where the $length{\times}tickness$ samples were prepared by decreasing the present sample ($3{\times}3$ mm) with 1 mm up to $1{\times}1$ mm, and the $width{\times}length$ samples were prepared by decreasing the present sample ($2{\times}10$ mm) with 2 mm up to $2{\times}6$ mm for the stems in leaf and stems in expanded cut-tobacco were prepared to apply a fire ball drop test using stems. In addition, cigarettes were produced for these stems in order to analyze the forced fire ball drop including the burning, encapsulation and unencapsulation pressure drop and a single or unspecified direction combustion. Based on the results of the test, it was evident that the fire ball drop in the stems in expanded cut-tobacco presented a lower level than that of the stems in leaf. Also, the stems in expanded cut-tobacco presented a larger swelling and higher burning for a single direction than that of the stem in leaf. In addition, it was considered that the management criteria for objectionable stems should be changed as $3{\times}3$ mm and $2{\times}8$ mm for the $length{\times}thickness$ and $width{\times}length$ sample, respectively, in both steams in leaf and expanded cut-tobacco.

연초 재배를 위한 개간지 토양의 비옥도 증진에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Enhancement of Soil Fertility in the Reclaimed Land for Growing Tobacco)

  • 신개간지 토양에 대한 인산시용 수준별 석회, 퇴비증시, 퇴비와 붕소의 혼합시용에 따른 비옥도 증진의 효과가 연초의 수량 및 품질에 미치는 영향을 2년간에 걸쳐 시험한 결과를요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 개량제 처리의 효과는 1차년도에서 보다 2차년도에 담배 생육과 엽면적지수와 단위엽 면적중을 월등하게 증가시켰다. 3. 개량제의 시용으로 초년도의 pH, 치환성염기등이 숙전과 같은 수준으로 개선되었으며, 처리별 비옥도 증진효과는 퇴비증시구가 컸다. 3. 2차년도 시험결과에서 수량은 대조구에 비하여 15∼25% 증수되었고, 품질은 처리간에 큰 차 없으나, 개량제 시용으로 대조구에 비하여 3 - 7% 향상되었다. 수익 (10a당 수납대금)은 인산흡수계수에 대한 3 %조절량+퇴비증시구가 가장 높아 대조구보다 34%의 증가를 가져왔다.

연산별 황색종 가공엽의 화학성분 함량 및 편차 분석 (Analysis of Contents and Deviations of Chemical Constituents of flue-cured leaf Tobacco from 1997 to 2001 Crop Years)

  • To investigate the effects of reduction of leaf processing factories on the uniformity of processed leaf quality, the contents and their C.V.(Coefficient of Variation) of chemical constituents of flue-cured leaf tobacco produced from 1997 to 2001 and processed at various factories were analysed. The average leaf chemical contents of 12 grades for 5 years ranged as follows ; nicotine 2.00∼0.85%. total sugar 10.7∼16.9%, total nitrogen 2.36∼2.78%, crude ash 14.6∼15.6% and chlorine 0.50∼0.75%. The variations of chemical contents among crop years was higher in total sugar content while lower in crude ash content. The C.V. of chemical content in same grade leaves was higher in chlorine content while lower in total nitrogen and crude ash contents, and the ratio of C.V. among processing factories/C.V. in total population was higher in total sugar content while lower in crude ash content. When the leaves were processed at one factory, the deviations of chemical contents reduced considerably. Particularly, the decreasing effect of deviation was higher in total sugar content.

연초(Nicotiana tabacum L.)육종을 위한 제형질의 통계유전학적 연구 IV. 재배법 및 세대에 따른 유전적 Parameter의 변동 (Genetic Analysis on Some Quantitative Characters in Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) Breeding IV. Changes of Genetic Parameter according to different Cultivated Systems and Generations.)

  • The study was conducted to obtain the genetic informations for some useful characters in tobacco breeding. The eight parents and a set of 28 crosses of F1's and F2's were used as materials, and planted on two different cultivated systems, i. e., oriental's and burley systems, during 1986-1988 at taegu Experiment Station, Korea Ginseng & Tobacco Research Institute. The observed characters were six agronomic characters which were plant height, number of leaves per plant, leaf length, leaf width, days to flowering, yield and five chemical components, nicotine, total nitrogen, protein nitrogen, total volatile base and pet, ether extract. The results obtaining are summarized as follows: 1. The higher heritabilities were found for days to flowering yield and nicotine in both generations, but values for number of leaves per plant, leaf length, total nitrogen and protein nitrogen were lower than other characters. 2. Genotypic correlation coefficients among all pairs of characters were slightly higher than the corresponding phenotypic correlations in F1's and F2's on two different cultivated systems. The relationship between leaf length and leaf width was the positive correlation, but that between number of leaves per plant and leaf width was negative. 3. From the genotypic correlations between yield and other characters, a conclusion that the yield was highly correlated with plant height, leaf length, leaf width and days to flowering was given. 4. Quality was positively correlated with number of leaves per plant and nicotine, but negatively with the other agronomic characters and chemical components.
