Concerns related to protecting, identifying, and isolating of subsystems of a water distribution network have led to the realization of the increased importance of valves in the system. The most important purpose of valves in water distribution systems is to isolate a subsystem due to breakage, maintenance activities, or contamination. A subsystem called segment is isolated by the closure of adjacent valves. Minimizing the pipe failure impact, an efficient algorithm is required to identify adjacent valves quickly. In this paper, an algorithm to identify adjacent valves to be closed to isolate a subsystem from the remainder of a network when a pipe failure is presented. The algorithm is operated on a matrix called the valve location matrix containing the information of valve locations. An application to an existing water distribution system demonstrates the developed algorithm efficiently locates the adjacent valves for the isolation of a broken pipe.

A company wishes to obtain a competitive edge by adopting an efficient logistics information system to control the logistics management process. The elements of the competitive edges a company targets are to maintain good quality, reduce cost and on-time delivery and those competitive edges are closely related to the cycle time of a product. The logistics information system in a company is also closely tied with other business activities than the logistics itself. Therefore it is essential to choose a system that will help rationalize the logistics but also overall business operations along the supply chain from manufacturing to distribution of the products. This paper aims to research and analyze a problem with a logistics information system through case study and to suggest a logistics information system with RFID in place adopted to eliminate problems such as damages, loss and defect rates.

Purpose - This study aimed to (a) investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on customer orientation, (b) examine the impact of customer orientation on customer relationship management (CRM) performance (including CRM-related variables such as 'relationship commitment,' 'image of corporation,' and 'customer loyalty'), and (c) identify the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected using a questionnaire given to a sample of employees of luxury hotels in the metropolitan area. To test the hypotheses, AMOS were conducted for the 271 respondents of the sample using the SPSS Win 17.0 software. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar of many leaders and managers over the past few decades. Emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thoughts, and interactions with others. Emotional intelligence consists of four factors: understanding the self's emotion, understanding other people's emotions, emotion utilization, and emotion control. Understanding the self's emotion means to understand of my own emotions. Understanding other people's emotions is to understand of the emotions of the people around me and to know how my friends feel based on their behavior. The concept of emotion utilization means to set goals for myself and then try to achieve them, encouraging myself to do my best. The concept of emotion control means I can control my temper, handle difficult situations rationally, and calm down quickly when I am very angry. Results - As a result of the analysis, three factors (understanding the self's emotion, understanding of other people's emotions, and emotion utilization) were shown to have a significant effect on customer orientation. Emotion control had an insignificant effect on customer orientation. Only emotion control makes it difficult to solve customers' problems because it is a passive behavior. In order to solve the customers' problems, hotel employees have to show a positive attitude. Second, customer orientation had a significant effect on customer relationship management performance (customer relationship commitment, corporate image, and customer loyalty). In other words, customer orientation increases commitment to customer relationships. For example, employees who have a customer-orientated perspective provide good service to their customers, while employees who don't have a customer-orientated perspective can't satisfy their customers. Customer orientation can also generate a good image among customers, because they evaluate the image of a hotel through the behavior of hotel employees. So it is very important for employees to show excellent customer orientation. Conclusions - It is very important for hotel CEOs to manage their employees' emotional intelligence. In order to increase their employees' emotional intelligence abilities, CEOs have to manage the overall corporate culture and reward programs to achieve what they want. This is because the system can lead to a customer-orientated mind-set and CRM performance among employees. As a result, the hotel CEO has to pay attention to the emotional intelligence of employees to achieve strong CRM performance. The sentence as originally written was a bit unclear. In this study to cope with the decreasing product's life-cycle a virtual simulator to realize the simulation environment similar to a real manufacturing line is developed. The developed simulator plays a role in reducing the product conversion time by alternating manufacturing components and work plans on the simulation as manufacturing lines change and actuating a virtual manufacturing lines change and actuating a virtual manufacturing line before a real production. The developed simulator realized a virtual manufacturing line on the simulation using various manipulators and work cells as manufacturing components. Also It can be shown that the simulator can cope with rapid change of a manufacturing line by developing a interface that a separate process is managed for each manufacturing module and a manipulator component and a work cell are changed for a user to become convenient to teach tasks of each work module. using Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 and OpenGL of Silicon Graphics for libraries to realize 3-dimensional graphic and constructing a database system, a hybrid type of hierachical and relational model to develop a progra that has efficiency and standardization.

In a so-called cleft (or, pseudocleft), the kes-phrase seems to refer to a person, even though kes is generally incompatible with human beings. In this paper, I claim that in a cleft, the kes-phrase can refer to a concept, and that a concept of human beings is not a person. I give some pieces of evidence for this claim. In a cleft, the kes-phrase cannot be pluralized only when it is supposed to denote a human being. Moreover, in such a case, the NP before the copula cannot be interpreted as the meaning of a predicate. Furthermore, in a cleft two kes-phrases are not conjoined with (k)wa only when they seem to denote human beings. All the observations can be explained by the claim that the kes-phrase denotes a concept in such cases. A concept cannot be used as a predicate, pluralized, or conjoined to refer to objects that are subsumed under a concept. When the kes-phrase denotes a concept, the cleft sentence is an identity statement.

Evaluating a Review-Level Ground Motion is a key to efficiently perform Seismic Margin Assessment of nuclear power plants whose purpose is to determine a ground motion level for which a plant has high-confidence-of-a-low-probability of seismic-induced core damage and to identify any weaker-link components. In this study a method to obtain RLGMs is reviewed which is recommended by Electric Power Research Institute and implemented to be applied to Limerick site in eastern and central U. S as a case study. This method provides reasonable and site-specific RLGMs as minimum required plant HCLPF for SMA that meet a target mean seismic core-damage frequency based on seismic hazard results and generic values of uncertainty and randomness parameters of the core-damage fragility curves. In addition high-frequency RLGM is justifiably modified to reflect the increased seismic capacity of high-frequency components and spatial variation and incoherence of input ground motion on a basemat of large structures by establishing a method to obtain high0-frequency reduction factors according to EPRI guidelines.

By committing to a long-term replenishment contract, suppliers can mitigate the pressure to find new customers and afford to charge a discounted price to buyers seeking to lower their purchasing costs. In this paper, we develop an analytical model from buyer's perspective for the contracting process to investigate the buyer-supplier interactions. Based on the developed model, we propose an algorithm to derive optimal strategy for the contract. We consider a system with a single buyer and a supplier in a situation where the buyer's inventory is controlled by (R, S) policy under VMI setting. According to the contract, the supplier should replenish the buyer's inventory up to a fixed level every R times during a specified period. The buyer purchases any deficient amount from a spot market at a higher price. We show by computational experiment that our proposed algorithm finds the global optimum solution.

A new method to govern the navigation of a mobile robot is proposed based on the following two procedures: one is to achieve vision information by using a 2 D-O-F camera as a communicating medium between a man and a mobile robot and the other is to analyze and to behave according to the recognized hand gesture commands. In the previous researches, mobile robots are passively to move through landmarks, beacons, etc. To incorporate various changes of situation, a new control system manages the dynamical navigation of a mobile robot. Moreover, without any generally used expensive equipments or complex algorithms for hand gesture recognition, a reliable hand gesture recognition system is efficiently implemented to convey the human commands to the mobile robot with a few constraints.

In this paper, we extend the concept of the group ${\varepsilon}(X)$ of self homotopy equivalences of a space X to that of an object in the category of pairs. Mainly, we study the group ${\varepsilon}(X,\;A)$ of pair homotopy equivalences from a CW-pair (X, A) to itself which is the special case of the extended concept. For a CW-pair (X, A), we find an exact sequence $1\;{\to}\;G\;{\to}\;{\varepsilon}(X,\;A)\;{to}\;{\varepsilon}(A)$ where G is a subgroup of ${\varepsilon}(X,\;A)$. Especially, for CW homotopy associative and inversive H-spaces X and Y, we obtain a split short exact sequence $1\;{\to}\;{\varepsilon}(X)\;{\to}\;{\varepsilon}(X{\times}Y,Y)\;{\to}\;{\varepsilon}(Y)\;{\to}\;1$ provided the two sets $[X{\wedge}Y,\;X{\times}Y]$ and [X, Y] are trivial.
