  • The aim of this study was to compare the compressive strength and the surface microhardness of Beautifil flow (Shofu, Kyoto, Japan) with $Filtek^{TM}$ Z350, Z350XT (3M ESPE, USA). Fifteen specimens from each material were fabricated for testing. Compressive strength was measured by using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. Surface microhardness values were measured by using Vickers hardness tester under 4.9 N load and 10 seconds dwelling time. The compressive strength of Group 2 $Filtek^{TM}$ Z350XT shows the highest value as $218.7{\pm}18.4$ MPa and Group 1 $Filtek^{TM}$ Z350 was $205.5{\pm}27.1$ MPa. Group 3 Beautifil flow F00 was $176.5{\pm}30.3$ MPa, and Group 4 Beautifil flow F10 was $173.4{\pm}26.2$ MPa. The compressive strength of Group 2 is higher than Group 3 and 4 (p < 0.05). The surface microhardness of Group 2 $Filtek^{TM}$ Z350XT shows the highest value as $39.1{\pm}2.1$ and Group 4 Beautifil flow F10 was $27.9{\pm}1.8$. And Group 3 Beautifil flow F00 was $23.1{\pm}1.1$, Group 1 $Filtek^{TM}$ Z350 was $20.4{\pm}0.9$. There was a statistical significant difference in surface microhardness between all groups (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the compressive strength of giomer was below the level of flowable composite resin. However, the surface microhardness of giomer is comparable to that of flowable composite resin. Giomer would be the good alternative to composite resin, if there is improvement of the compressive strength of giomer.

  • The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the bioequivalence of two enalapril maleate tablets, $Renitec^{TM}$ (MSD Korea Ltd.) and $Enalace^{TM}$ (Welfide Korea Ltd.), according to the guidelines of Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). Twenty-four normal male volunteers, $22.33{\pm}2.55$ year in age and $66.54{\pm}8.30$ kg in body weight, were divided into two groups and a randomized $2{\times}2$ cross-over study was employed. After two tablets containing 10 mg of enalapril maleate per tablet were orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and concentrations of enalapril in plasma were determined using LC-MS-MS. Pharmacokinetic parameters such as $AUC_t,\;C_{max}\;and\;T_{max}$ were calculated and ANOVA test was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters using logarithmically transformed $AUC_t,\;and\;C_{max}$ untransformed $T_{max}$. There were no sequence effects between two formulations in these parameters. The 90% confidence intervals for the log transformed data were acceptance range of log0.8 to log1.25$(e.g.,\;log1.02{\sim}log1.14\;and\;log1.03{\sim}log1.19\;for\;AUC_t\;and\;C_{max},\;respectively)$. The major parameters, $AUC_t,\;and\;C_{max}$, met the criteria of KDFA for bioequivalence indicating that $Enalace^{TM}$ tablet is bioequivalent to $Renitec^{TM}$ tablet.

  • Bioequivalence of two terazosin tablets, the $Hytrine^{TM}$ (Il-Yang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.) and the $Hytrine^{TM}$ (Daewon Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.), was evaluated according to the guideline of KFDA. Sixteen normal male volunteers $(21{\sim}30\;years\;old)$ were divided into two groups and a randomized $2{\times}2$ cross-over study was employed. After one tablet containing 2 mg of terazosin was orally administered, blood was taken at predetermined time intervals and the concentration of terazosin in serum was determined with a HPLC method using spectrofluorometric detector. The pharmacokinetic parameters $(AUC_t,\;C_{max}\;and\;T_{max})$ were calculated and ANOVA was utilized for the statistical analysis of the parameters. The results showed that the differences in $AUC_t$ $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$ between two tablets were 6.02%,3.44% and -3.67%, respectively. The powers $(1-{\beta})$ for $AUC_t$, $C_{max}$ and $T_{max}$ were 98.05%, 98.34% and 29.81 %, respectively. Detectable differences $({\Delta})$ and confidence intervals were all less than ${\pm}20%$ except $T_{max}$. $AUC_t$ and $C_{max}$ met the criteria of KFDA for bioequivalence, indicating that $Terasin^{TM}$ tablet is bioequivalent to $Hytrine^{TM}$ tablet.

  • New bonding agent systems have been supplied which operators can simply apply to conditioned tooth surfaces. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strengths and the microleakages of three bonding agents and composite resins to dentin. Seventy-five extracted human maxillary and mandibular molar teeth were used in this study. For the shear bond strength test, the entire occlusal dentin surfaces of thirty teeth were exposed with Diamond Wheel Saw and smoothed with Lapping and Polishing Machine (South Bay Technology Co., U.S.A). For the microleakage test, Class V cavities were prepared in the buccal surfaces of fourtyfive teeth. They were randomly assigned into 3 groups according to dentin bonding agents ($Scotchbond^{TM}$ Multi-Purpose plus, ONE-$STEP^{TM}$ and Prime & $Bond^{TM}$)and composite resins (Z-100, $Aelitefil^{TM}$ and TPH $Spectrum^{TM}$) to be used. Bonding agents and composite resins were bonded to exposed dentin surfaces of the tooth crown and to Class V cavities on the buccal surfaces respectively according to manufacturer's directions. The shear bond strengths were measured by universal testing machine($U^{TM}$ AGS-100, Japan). In addition, the degree of micro leakage at the occlusal and gingival margin was examined by 2 % methylene blue and stereomicroscope(Olymous SZH 10, Japan). The results were as follows: 1. The shear bond strength to dentin was the highest value in SBMP-Plus group($16.68{\pm}7.38$ MPa) and the lowest value in Prime & Bond group($11.61{\pm}5.82$ MPa), but there was no significant difference of shear bond strength among three groups. 2. The degree of microleakage at both occlusal and gingival margin was showed the lowest in SBMP-Plus group and the highest in ONE-STEP group. 3. At both occlusal and gingival margin, there was significant difference of microleakage between SBMP-Plus and ONE-STEP/ Prime & Bond groups(p<0.05), but no significant difference of microleakage between ONE-STEP and Prime & Bond group(p>0.05).

  • In marine controlled-source electromagnetic (CSEM) modeling, it may be difficult to evaluate primary fields accurately using conventional linear filters because they decay very rapidly with distance. However, since there exists a closed-form solution to the Hankel transform in TM mode for a homogeneous half space, we can assess the accuracy of linear filters for evaluating the Hankel transform. As a result, only nine out of 36 source-receiver pairs show that EM fields decrease linearly in semi-log scale with an increase of source-receiver distance, while EM fields are either 0 or not reduced significantly due to an effect of the air layer. There also exist closed-form solutions for the nine pairs, and the others can be evaluated accurately with a relatively short filter. This paper proposes a method which uses closed-form solutions for TM-mode Hankel transforms and a filter with 61 coefficients for TE-mode ones.

  • The present study aims to derive and compare narrow and broad bandwidths of ocean color sensor’s algorithms for the study of monitoring highly dynamic coastal oceanic environmental parameters using high-resolution imagery acquired from Multi-spectral Camera (MSC) on KOMPSAT-2. These algorithms are derived based on a large data set of remote sensing reflectances ($R_{rs}$) generated by using numerical model that relates $b_b/(a + b_b)$ to $R_{rs}$ as functions of inherent optical properties, such as absorption and backscattering coefficients of six water components including water, phytoplankton (chl), dissolved organic matter (DOM), suspended sediment (SS) concentration, heterotropic organism (he) and an unknown component, possibly represented by bubbles or other particulates unrelated to the first five components. The modeled $R_{rs}$ spectra appear to be consistent with in-situ spectra collected from Korean waters. As Kompsat-2 MSC has similar spectral characteristics with Landsat-5 Thematic Mapper (TM), the model generated $R_{rs}$ values at 2 ㎚ interval are converted to the equivalent remote sensing reflectances at MSC and TM bands. The empirical relationships between the spectral ratios of modeled $R_{rs}$ and chlorophyll concentrations are established in order to derive algorithms for both TM and MSC. Similarly, algorithms are obtained by relating a single band reflectance (band 2) to the suspended sediment concentrations. These algorithms derived by taking into account the narrow and broad spectral bandwidths are compared and assessed. Findings suggest that there was less difference between the broad and narrow band relationships, and the determination coefficient $(r^2)$ for log-transformed data [ N = 500] was interestingly found to be $(r^2)$ = 0.90 for both TM and MSC. Similarly, the determination coefficient for log-transformed data [ N = 500] was 0.93 and 0.92 for TM and MSC respectively. The algorithms presented here are expected to make significant contribution to the enhanced understanding of coastal oceanic environmental parameters using Multi-spectral Camera.

  • In this paper, TM electromagnetic scattering problems for conductive strip grating between grounded double dielectric layers are analyzed by applying the FGMM(fourier galerkin moment method) and PMM(point matching method) known as a numerical method of electromagnetic field. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients. In order to deal with the problem of grounded double dielectric layers, numerical calculation was performed only when the thickness and relative permittivity of the dielectric layers had the same value. As the thickness of the dielectric layer and the relative permittivity increased, the overall reflected power increased, and the minimum values of the reflected power shifted in the direction of increasing the strip width. The numerical results obtained by applying the numerical methods of FGMM and PMM to the structure proposed in this paper agree very well.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy of CyberKnife $Synchrony^{TM}$ respiratory tracking system which was applied to Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) for moving tumors in chest and abdomen with breathing motion. For accurate evaluation, gold fiducial marks were implanted into a moving phantom. The moving phantom was a cube imbedding an acryl ball as a target. The acryl ball was prescribed to 20 Gy at 70% of isodose curve in a virtual treatment and radiochromic films were inserted into the acryl ball for dose verification and tracking accuracy evaluation. The evaluation of position tracking consists of two parts: fiducial mark tracking in a stationary phantom and $Synchrony^{TM}$ respiratory tracking in a moving phantom. Each measurement was done in three directions and was repeated to 5 times. Range of position error was 0.1957 mm to 0.6520 mm in the stationary phantom and 0.4405 mm to 0.7665 mm in the moving phantom. Average position error was 0.3926 mm and 0.5673 mm in the stationary phantom and the moving phantom respectively. This study evaluates the accuracy of CyberKnife $Synchrony^{TM}$ Respiratory tracking system, and confirms the usefulness when it's used for Stereotactic Radiosurgery of body organs.

  • The analysis of environmental change followed by cultural development is useful for determining development plan hereafter. This study aimed for quantitative analysis about urban sprawl within 10 years, from 1984 to 1994, at Kwangju city, and to extract characteristics of change. For this purpose, we performed land cover classifications using Landsat TM data. And to evaluate influence of urbanization, we carried out surface temperature analysis using TM band 6 data. From the change analysis in land cover, it wa found that expansion of urban areas amounted to 3% and get accomplished by exploitation of farm land area, and that a rice paddy fields were changed to vinyl house areas considerably. In the regional aspect, development was concentrated on Kwangsan-ku which had been incorperated into Kwangju city in 1988. The results from temperature analysis showed that there was close correlation between surface temperature and land cover types, and that urbanization would influnce temperature to rise $0.3^{\circ}C$ in summer. As a results, we can prove that satellite data is very effective for environmental change analysis.
