  • A non-fragile guaranteed cost control (GCC) problem is presented for a class of discrete time-delay nonlinear systems described by Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model. The systems are assumed to have norm-bounded time-varying uncertainties in the matrices of state, delayed state and control gains. Sufficient conditions are first obtained which guarantee that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable and the closed-loop cost function value is not more than a specified upper bound. Then the design method of the non-fragile guaranteed cost controller is formulated in terms of the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

  • A recursive on-line algorithm for orthogonal ARMA identification is proposed for linear MIMO systems with unknown parameters time delay and order. This algorithm is based on the Gram-Schmidt orthogonalization of basis functions, and extended to a recursiveform by using new functions of two dimensional autocorrelations and crosscorrelations of inputs and outputs. This proposed algorithm can also cope with slowly time-varying or order-varying systems. Various simulations reveal the performance of the algorithm.

  • Control system of electric machine systems is often required to provide the good control performance even in the presence of various variable loads. In this study, time delay control technique is adopted to overcome such variable loads. Also, in this research a new approach of avoiding saturation by varying the reference model for the time delay control based systems subject to the step changes in reference inputs. These schemes are verified by applications to the position controls of the AC servo motor system and the engine throttle actuator.

  • This paper concerns delay-dependent guaranteed cost control (GCC) problem for a class of linear state-delayed systems with norm-bounded time-varying parametric uncertainties. By incorporating the free weighing matrix approach developed recently, new delay-dependent conditions for the existence of the guaranteed cost controller are presented in terms of matrix inequalities for both nominal state-delayed systems and uncertain state-delayed systems. An algorithm involving convex optimization is proposed to design a controller achieving a suboptimal guaranteed cost such that the system can be stabilized for all admissible uncertainties. Through numerical examples, it is shown that the proposed method can yield less guaranteed cost than the existing delay-dependent methods.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new algorithm using characteristics of th ereconstructed phase trajectory by topological mapping developed for a real-tiem detection of the QRS complexes of ECG signals. Using fill-factor algorithm and mutual information algorithm which are in genral used to find out the chaotic characteristics of sampled signals, we inferred the proper mapping parameter, time delay, in ECG signals and investigated QRS detection rates with varying time delay in QRS complex detection. And we compared experimental time dealy with the theoretical one. As a result, it shows that the experimental time dealy which is proper in topological mapping from ECG signals is 20ms and theoretical time delays of fill-factor algorithm and mutual information algorithm are 20.+-.0.76ms and 28.+-.3.51ms, respectively. From these results, we could easily infer that the fill-factor algorithm in topological mapping from one-dimensional sampled ECG signals to two-dimensional vectors, is a useful algorithm for the detemination of the proper ECG signals to two-dimensional vectors, is a useful algorithm for the detemination of the proper time delay. Also with the proposed algorithm which is very simple and robust to low-frequency noise as like baseline wandering, we could detect QRS complex in real-time by simplifying preprocessing stages. For the evaluation, we implemented the proposed algorithm in C-language and applied the MIT/BIH arrhythmia database of 48 patients. The proposed algorithm provides a good performance, a 99.58% detection rate.

  • A Block-Time-Bounded Time Division Multiple Access (BTB-TDMA) medium access control protocol, which estimates the propagation delay of nodes according to their location and moving velocity information, has been proposed for underwater acoustic networks. BTB-TDMA provides nodes with their transmission schedules by a time block that is a time unit, newly designed for BTB-TDMA. In this paper, we investigate how the receiver collision, that is induced by the asymmetry between node's uplink and downlink propagation delay due to its mobility, affects the performance of BTB-TDMA. To do this, we analytically obtain the collision rate, the channel access delay, and the channel utilization by considering the asymmetry of propagation delay. Then, simulations are extensively performed with respect to the length of a time block by varying the number of nodes, the network range, and the node's velocity. Thus, the simulation results can suggest performance criteria to determine the optimal length of a time block which minimizes the collision rate and concurrently maximizes the channel access delay and the channel utilization.

  • In this paper, we analyze the delay performance for a Markovian source transported over a wireless channel with time-varying error characteristics. To improve the reliability of the channel, the end points of the wireless link implement a selective-repeat (SR) ARQ error control protocol. We provide an approximate discrete-time analysis of the end-to-end mean packet delay, which consists of transport and resequencing delays. Numerical results and simulations indicate that our approximate analysis is sufficiently accurate for a wide range of parameter values.
