In this paper, we address a new time delay estimation method using third-order statistics and subband adaptive filtering to improve the accuracy of target detection for acoustic backscattered signals in a noise interference environment. Each reference and primary signals are decorrelated using the multiresolution analysis framework through a M-band discrete wavelet transform(M-DWT). Then noise effect can be reduced. Here, time delays are estimated iteratively in each subband using two different adaptation mechanisms that minimize the mean squared error (MSE) between the references and primary signal. More specifically, third-order cumulants and projection cross-correlation(PCC) criterion are utilized to achieve an effective SNR improvement for the time delay estimation.

This study is aimed to analyze the overall effects of the additional delay caused by the vehicle in front of the queue, at the signal, to the total delay estimation. To estimate the average vehicle delay at the signalized intersection, as survey of the queue length at the intersection and traffic counts were conducted. As a result of this analysis, all of the three delay estimation methods turned out to be similar in that the estimation of the average delay for the test vehicle was less than 60 sec/vehicle. However, the average delay time for the vehicle in front of the queue only, was estimated at 60-70 sec/vehicle which is similar to the average delay of the test vehicle.
This paper considers the parameter estimation for the state-space model based time-delay systems in the case that the Lyapunov stability of the system is guaranteed. In order to estimate the parameters, two estimation methods can be proposed which are known as the parallel model and the series parallel model. It is shown that the parameters can be estimated using each method, and also certied that the results are correct by simulations.

Improving the quality of service in IP networks is a major challenge for real-time voice communications. In particular, packet arrival-delay variation, so-called "jitter," is one of the main factors that degrade the quality of voice in mobile devices with the voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP). To resolve this issue, a receiver-based enhanced timing recovery algorithm combined with active jitter estimation is proposed. The proposed algorithm copes with the effect of transmission jitter by expanding or compressing each packet according to the predicted network delay and variations. Additionally, the active network jitter estimation incorporates rapid detection of delay spikes and reacts to changes in network conditions. Extensive simulations have shown that the proposed algorithm delivers high voice quality by pursuing an optimal trade-off between average buffering delay and packet loss rate.

In this paper, we proposed Channel Transfer Function estimation based on Delay and Doppler Profile for underwater acoustic OFDM communication system. It improved the estimation accuracy of the channel transfer function by linear time interpolation the change of Scattered Pilot (SP) insertion frequency in the time direction and the time by Delay and Doppler profile that analyzes the multipath situation of the channel investigated the performance of interpolation by simulation and report it. Previous works is inserted SP every 4 OFDM. It was effective under the environment without multipath, but it has observed that the effect of CTF compensation has been lowered in multipath channel condition. In addition to be better when inserted SP every 2 OFDM. But the amount of sending data will be decrease. Therefore, we conducted research to improve 4 OFDM with new interpolator. A computer simulation was performed as a comparison of SP inserted every 4 OFDM, SP inserted every 2 OFDM, and 4 OFDM with new interpolator. the performance of the proposed system is overwhelmingly improved, and the performance is slightly improved even 64 QAM.
In this study, the time delay model were simulated using the well-known AR model. Frequency response of the time delay model can be obtained by mapping AR model to JTC model in the time domain. That is, from the few measurement data in JTC model, the channel frequency response can be obtained by the estimation of AR model parameters. From this channel frequency response, the time delay model can be obtained using Fourier transformation. To prove the validity of the suggested method, three models of JTC were shown and analyzed.

In decades, many researchers have studied the time delay estimation (TDE) method for the signals in the two different receivers. The channel estimation based TDE is one of the typical TDE methods. The channel estimation based TDE models the time delay between two receiving signals as an impulse response in a channel between two receivers. In general the impulse response becomes sparse. However, most conventional TDE algorithms cannot have utilized the sparsity. In this paper, we propose a TDE method taking the sparsity into consideration. The performance comparison shows that the proposed algorithm improves the estimation accuracy by 10 dB in the white gaussian source. In addition, even in the colored source, the proposed algorithm doesn't show the estimation threshold effect.

In this paper a super-resolution time delay estimation algorithm that estimates the time delays of spread spectrum signals using sparse signal reconstruction approach is introduced. So far, the correlation method has been mostly used to estimate the time delays of spread spectrum signals. However it fails to accurately estimate the time delays in the case where the signals are spaced within approximately 1 PN chip duration and a further processing should be applied to the correlation outputs in order to enhance the resolution capability. Recently sparse signal approaches attract much interest in the area of directions-of-arrival estimation, of which SPICE is the most representative. Thus we introduce a super-resolution time delay estimation algorithm based on the SPICE approach and compare its performance with that of MUSIC algorithm by applying them to the ISO/IEC 24730-2.1 RTLS system.
This paper proposes a gain scheduled control technique using time-delay for the nonlinear system with plant uncertainties and unexpected disturbances. The time delay-based gain scheduled control depends on a direct estimation of a function representing the effect of uncertainties. The information from the estimation is used to cancel the unknown dynamics and the unexpected disturbances simultaneously. The proposed estimation scheme with a finite convergence time is formulated in order to estimate the unborn scheduling variable variation. In other words, the time delay-based gain scheduled control uses the past observation of the system's response and the control input to directly modify the control actions rather than to adjust the controller gains or to identify system parameters. It has a simple structure so as to minimize the computational burden. The benefits of this proposed scheme are demonstrated in the simulation of an electromagnetic suspension system with plant uncertainties and external disturbances, and the proposed controller is compared with the conventional state feedback controller.
The localization of sources has a numerous number of applications. To estimate the position of sources, the relative time delay between two or more received signals for the direct signal must be determined. Although the GCC (Generalized Cross-Correlation) method is the most popular technique, an approach based on CCA (Canonical Correlation Analysis) was also proposed for the TDE (Time Delay Estimation). In this paper, we propose a new adaptive algorithm based on CCA in order to utilized the sparsity in the eigenvector of CCA based time delay estimator. The proposed algorithm uses the eigenvector corresponding to the maximum eigenvalue with log-sum regularization in order to utilize the sparsity in the eigenvector. We have performed simulations for several SNR(signal to noise ratio)s, showing that the new CCA based algorithm can estimate the time delays more accurately than the conventional CCA and GCC based TDE algorithms.
