  • Recently, small-scale mobile network which is composed of many mobile devices in a man becomes popular. Also, Examples of large-scale mobile network can be thought access networks deployed on public transportation such as ships, trains and buses. To provide seamless mobility for mobile nodes in this mobile network, binding update messages must be exchanged frequently. However, it incurs network overhead increasingly and decreases energy efficiency of mobile router. If we try to reduce the number of the messages to cope with the problem, it may happen the security -related problems conversely Thus, mobile router needs a effective algorithm to update location information with low cost and to cover security problems. In this paper, mobility management scheme based on mobile router's mobility pattern is proposed. Whenever each mobile router leaves a visiting network, it records related information as moving log. And then it periodically computes mean resident time for all visited network, and saves them in the profile. If each mobile router moves into the visited network hereafter, the number of binding update messages can be reduced since current resident time may be expected based on the profile. At this time, of course, security problems can happen. The problems, however, are solved using key credit, which just sends some keys once. Through extensive experiments, bandwidth usages are measured to compare binding update messages in proposed scheme with that in existing scheme. From the results, we can reduce about 65% of mobility-management-related messages especially when mobile router stays more than 50 minutes in a network. Namely, the proposed scheme improves network usage and energy usage of mobile router by decreasing the number of messages and authorization procedure.

  • The UAV tracking antenna system based on GPS has a characteristic of update of position information which can occurs a position error. To reduce the position error, UAV tracking antenna system separates period of GPS update-rate and predicts the position of UAV using divided time points. These process improves the tracking performance of UAV. To predict the position of UAV by divided time points, we used a linear kalman filter based on the velocity and acceleration. Using this system, we measured velocity and acceleration according to the change of position. Finally, we can predict the change of position on divided time points.

  • IP address lookup is very crucial in performance of routers. Several works have been done on prefix caching to enhance the performance of IP address lookup. Since a prefix represents a range of IP addresses, a prefix cache shows better performance than an IP address cache. However, not every prefix is cacheable in itself. In a prefix cache it causes false hit to cache a non-leaf prefix because there is possibly the longer matching prefix in the routing table. Prefix expansion techniques such as complete prefix tree expansion (CPTE) make it possible to cache the non-leaf prefixes as the expanded forms, but it is hard to manage the expanded prefixes. The expanded prefixes sometimes incur a great deal of update overhead in a routing table. We propose a bitmap-based prefix cache (BMCache) to provide low update overhead as well as low cache miss ratio. The proposed scheme does not have any expanded prefixes in the routing table, but it can expand a non-leaf prefix using a bitmap on caching time. The trace-driven simulation shows that BMCache has very low miss ratio in spite of its low update overhead compared to other schemes.

  • A TPR-tree is a well-known indexing structure that is developed to answer queries about the current or future time locations of moving objects. For the purpose of space efficiency, the TPR-tree employs the notion of VBR (velocity bounding rectangle)so that a regionalrectangle presents varying positions of a group of moving objects. Since the rectangle computed from a VBR always encloses the possible maximum range of an indexed object group, a search process only has to follow VBR-based rectangles overlapped with a given query range, while searching toward candidate leaf nodes. Although the TPR-tree index shows up its space efficiency, it easily suffers from the problem of dead space that results from fast and constant expansions of VBR-based rectangles. Against this, the TPR-tree index is enforced to update leaf nodes for reducing dead spaces within them. Such an update-prone feature of the TPR-tree becomes more problematic when the tree is saved in flash storage. This is because flash storage has very expensive update costs. To solve this problem, we propose a new Bloom filter based caching scheme that is useful for reducing updates in a flash TPR-tree. Since the proposed scheme can efficiently control the frequency of updates on a leaf node, it can offer good performance for indexing moving objects in modern flash storage.

  • This paper proposes a broadcast software download (BSD) scheme for a 10-gigabit-capable passive optical network (XG-PON), which dramatically reduces the time required to update a remotely-located user terminal's software. The performance of the proposed BSD is examined by numerical analysis and demonstrated by experimental verification on our XG-PON test platforms. The results show that the BSD takes less than 5 minutes to update 45 user-terminal software, while the conventional unicast software download scheme normally takes more than one and half hours.

  • As the use of vehicle route application and LBS(location based service) are fast grew, the importance of maintaining road network data is also increased. To maintain road data accuracy, we can collect road data by driving real roads with probe vehicle, or using digital image processing for the extraction of roads from aerial imagery. After compare the new road data to current database, we can update the road database, but that job is mostly time and money consuming or can be inaccurate. In this paper, an updating method of using GPS(global positioning system) enabled cell phone is proposed. By using GPS phone, we can update road database easily and sufficiently accurately.

  • Recently, the location-based service for moving customers is becoming one of the most important service in mobile communication area. For moving object applications, there are lots of update operations and such update loads are concentrated on some particular area unevenly. Range queries, whose range can be window or circular, are the most essential query types in LBS. We need to distinguish completely contained cells from partially contained cells in those range queries. Also, it is necessary to consider temporal dimension to filter out qualifying objects correctly. In this paper, we adopt two-level index structures with fixed grid file structures in the second level, which are designed to minimize update operations. We propose a spatial ceil filtering method using VP filtering and a combined spatio-temporal filtering method using time gone concepts. Some experimental results are shown for various window queries and circular queries with different filtering combinations to show the performance tradeoffs of the proposed methods.

  • According as mobile computing environment is generalized by development of wireless networking technology and communication device, mobile host uses local cache for extensibility and early response time. and reduction of limited bandwidth. This time, between mobile host and mobile support station cache need consistency interested person of done data accordingly much techniqueses propose. Existent consistency techniques because detection based techniqueses are used mainly and broadcast periodic invalid message considering frequent disconnection. However, these techniqueses increase abort step through increase or delay of transmission message number by accuracy examination of data. Therefore, because mobile host deletes cached data, and extensity are decreased. Techniques that is proposed in this paper did to perform refering update frequency about object that page request or when complete update operation happens to solve these problem. Therefore, have advantage that response is fast because could run write intention declaration or update by update frequency electively asynchronously when update operation consists and abort step decreases. Also, improved extensity running delete or propagation electively according to update frequency about periodic invalid message gone since disconnection.

  • This paper deals with an efficient management and automatic update sub-system for WASPIFA (Web-based Assistant System for Protein-protein Interaction and Function Analysis) system that had been developed in the past and now provides the comprehensive information on protein-protein interaction and protein function. Protein interacting data has increased exponentially, so that it costs enormous time and effort. In other words, it is actually impossible to manually update and manage an analysis system based on protein interacting data. Even though there exists a good analysis system, it could be useless if it was able to be updated timely and managed properly. Unfortunately, in most cases, biologists without professional knowledge on their analysis systems have to cope with a great difficulty in running them. In this respect, the efficient management and automatic update subsystem of protein interacting and its related data has been developed to facilitate experimental biologists as well as bioinformaticians to update and manage the WASPIFA system.

  • The stringent performance requirement for the high efficiency of routing protocols on the Internet can be satisfied by exploiting the threaded border gateway protocol (TBGP) on multi-cores, but the state-of-the-art TBGP performance is restricted by a mass of contentions when racing to access the routing table. To this end, the highly-efficient parallel access approach appears to be a promising solution to achieve ultra-high route processing speed. This study proposes a general routing table structure consisting of two-level tries for fast parallel access, and it presents a heuristic-based divide-and-recombine algorithm to solve a mass of contentions, thereby accelerating the parallel route updates of multi-threading and boosting the TBGP performance. As a projected TBGP, this study also modifies the table operations such as insert and lookup, and validates their correctness according to the behaviors of the traditional routing table. Our evaluations on a dual quad-core Xeon server show that the parallel access contentions decrease sharply by 92.5% versus the traditional routing table, and the maximal update time of a thread is reduced by 56.8 % on average with little overhead. The convergence time of update messages are improved by 49.7%.
