  • Vibration analysis is one of the most powerful tools available for the detection and isolation of incipient faults in mechanical systems. The methods of vibration analysis in use today and under continuous study are broad band vibration monitoring, time domain analysis, and frequency domain analysis. In recent years, great interest has been generated concerning the use of time-frequency representation and its application for a machinery diagnostics and condition monitoring system. The objective of the research described in this paper was to develop a new diagnostic tool for the rotating machinery. This paper introduces a new time-frequency representation, Directional Wigner-Ville Distribution, which analyses the time- frequency structure of the rotating machinery vibration.

  • This paper aims to present an alternative analytical method for transient vibration analysis of doubly-curved laminated shells subjected to dynamic loads. In the method proposed, the governing differential equations of laminated shell are derived using the dynamic version of the principle of virtual displacements. The governing equations of first order shear deformation laminated shell are obtained by Navier solution procedure. Time-dependent equations are transformed to the Laplace domain and then Laplace parameter dependent equations are solved numerically. The results obtained in the Laplace domain are transformed to the time domain with the help of modified Durbin's numerical inverse Laplace transform method. Verification of the presented method is carried out by comparing the results with those obtained by Newmark method and ANSYS finite element software. Also effects of number of laminates, different material properties and shell geometries are discussed. The numerical results have proved that the presented procedure is a highly accurate and efficient solution method.

  • In the presence of incident waves with different frequencies, there are second order sum and difference frequency wane exciting forces due to the nonlinearty of the incident waves. Although the magnitudes of these nonlinear forces are small, they act at sum and difference frequencies away from those of the incident waves. So, the second order sum and difference frequency wane loads occurring close to the natural frequencies of TLPs often give greater contributions to high and low frequency resonant responses. The components of the second order forces which depend on first order quantities have been evaluated using the three dimensional source distribution method. The numerical results of time domain motion analysis for the nonlinear wave exciting forces in regular waves are compared with the numerical ones of frequency domain analysis. The results of comparison confirmed the validity of the proposed approach.

  • The SCN-TLM method presented in this paper is another independent approaches for obtaining frequency domain results for microstrip line. The structure analysed with this TLM algorithm is step discontinuity microstrip line and the symmetrical condensed node is used. After numerical analysis, the frequency dependent scattering parameters of a step discontinuity microstrip line have been calculated by Fourier transform of the time domain data. From the time domain TLM numerical results, this numerical analysis is shown to be an efficient method for modelling complicated structure as step discontinuity microstrip line.

  • Up to now, Most studies of hydroelasticity are about frequency domain analysis. Those aren't suited for analysis of the landing take-off, and dropping of aircraft on a structure. So, the concern of this paper is the transient behavior of a VLFS subjected to dynamic load, induced by airplane landing and take-off. To predict the added mass, damping coefficient, and wave exciting force, the source-dipole distribution method was used in the frequency domain. The responses are accomplished by using the FEM scheme. A time domain analysis method is based on the Newmark β method to pursue the time step procedure, taking advantage of memory effect function for hydrodynamic effects.

  • The least mean square(LMS) algorithm has been popular owing to its simplicity, stability, and availability to implement. But it inherently has a problem of slow convergence speed, and the presence of a transfer function in the secondary path following the adaptive controller and the error path has been shown to generally degrade the stability and the performance of the LMS algorithm in applications of acoustical noise control. In general, in order to solve these problems, the filtered-x LMS (FX-LMS) type algorithms can be used and the bi-directional Filtered-x LMS(BFXLMS) algorithm is very attractive among them, which increase the convergence speed and the performance of the controller with nearly equivalent computation complexity. In this paper, a mathematical analysis for the BFXLMS algorithm is presented. In terms of view points of time domain, frequency domain, and stochastic domain, the characteristics and stabilities of algorithm is accurately analyzed.

  • In this study, flutter characteristics of a composite wing have been studied for the variation of laminate angles in the subsonic, transonic and supersonic flow regime. The laminate angles are selected by the aspect of engineering practice such as 0, $\pm$45 and 90 degrees. To calculate the unsteady aerodynamics for flutter analysis, the Doublet Lattice Method(DLM) in subsonic flow and the Doublet Point Method(DPM) in supersonic flow are applied in the frequency domain. In transonic flow, transonic small disturbance(TSD) code is used to calculate the nonlinear unsteady aerodynamics in the time domain. Aeroelastic governing equation has been solved by v-g method in the frequency domain and also by Coupled Time-Integration Method(CTIM) in the time domain. from the results of present study, characteristics of free vibration responses and aeroelastic instabilities of a composite wing are presented for the set of various lamination angles in the all flow range.

  • The majority of problems to which FDTD is being applied involve open structure which require the appropriate scheme to terminate the computational domain. In particular, for the propagation problem of the outgoing waves, a certain type of boundary condition needs to be applied on outer boundaries of the computational domain to generate no reflected waves. In this paper, a new simple technique is presented, which allows the reduced computation time and excellent absorbing characteristics for normal and oblique incident waves on outer boundaries. To illustrate the validity of this method, a numerical calculation for monopole antenna is carried out and the results are compared to measured data. The time-domain properties for circular patch antennas are investicated.

  • The Spar platform with deep draft is characterized as effective structure in extreme wave condition, which has larger natural period than that of waves in sea. In this paper, the time domain simulation of motion responses of Spar with catenary mooring line is presented in irregular waves. The memory effect is modeled by added mass at infinite frequency and convolution integrals in terms of wave damping coefficients. The added mass, wave damping coefficients and wave exciting forces are obtained from three-dimensional panel method in the frequency domain. The motion equations are consisted of forces for inertia, memory effect, hydrostatic restoring, wave exciting and mooring line. The forces of mooring line are modeled as quasi-static catenary cable.

  • In this paper, the efficient channel estimation schemes for DRM system(AM band digital radio broadcasting standard) are investigated. In frequency domain, by means of the linear interpolation, the second order interpolation, cubic spline interpolation, and time domain interpolation, the channel impulse response is estimated respectively to compensate the attenuation due to the fading. And in time domain, the frequency channel impulse response is averaged to reduce the attenuation due to the AWGN. By the simulation, the performance of MSE, BER and the complexity of calculation is compared and analyzed for each interpolation scheme.
