In this paper, hydrodynamic performance of FSRU which is designed to operate in North America East Coast assessed. In order to estimate the dynamic performance, the numerical analysis is carried out based on a time domain simulation program to solve the coupled dynamics for floater and mooring lines which is as well known program as DNV SESAM package. The target operating area is East coast of North America and the model test was carried out based on the meta-ocean data of the area. The mooring analysis is only considered wave without other environment condition at this time. The results of the numerical analysis show the under-estimated results at the higher wave height condition. But the tendency is very similar. Also, the motion response show good agreement compared with model test.

The CFD coupled aeroelastic analyses have significant advantages over linear panel methods in their accuracy and usefulness for the simulation of actual aeroelastic motion after specific initial disturbance. However, in spite of their advantages, a heavy computation time is required. In this paper, a method is discussed to save a computational cost in the time domain aeroelastic analysis based on the system identification technique. The coefficients of system identification model are fit to the computed time response obtained from a previously developed aeroelastic analysis code. Because the non-dimensionalized data is only used to construct the model structure, the resulting model of the unsteady CFD solution is independent of dynamic pressure and this independency makes it possible to find the flutter dynamic pressure without the unsteady aerodynamic computation. To confirm the accuracy of the system identification methodology, the system model responses are compared with those of the CFD coupled aeroelastic analysis at the same dynamic pressure.

A numerical technique is presented to calculate the motions of 6 d.o.f and mooring tensions for a catenary moored floating breakwater. The breakwater may be subjected to the 3-D combination of regular or irregular waves and stationary forces. The added mass coefficients at the infinitive frequency of input wave and the variations of damping and exciting force coefficients are calculated using the source distribution method. The coefficients are used to constitute motion equations in time domain which are solved by WiIson-$\theta$ method. The solutions agree quite well with either static displacement determined from Newton method under the stationary force only or 6 d.o.f determined from the frequency domain analysis under regular wave only. An example analysis is also done for a floating breakwater to demonstrate its applicability.
A computational analysis of engineering problems with moving domain or/and boundary according to either Lagrangian or Eulerian approach may encounter inherent numerical difficulties, the extreme mesh distortion in the former and the material boundary indistinctness in the latter. In order to overcome such defects in classical numerical approaches, the ALE(arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian) method is widely being adopted in which the finite element mesh moves with arbitrary velocity. This paper is concerned with the ALE finite element formulation, aiming at the dynamic response analysis of baffled fuel-storage container in yawing motion, for which the coupled time integration scheme, the remeshing and smoothing algorithm and the mesh velocity determination are addressed. Numerical simulation illustrating theoretical works is also presented.
A local-analytic-based Navier-Stokes solver has been employed in conjunction with a compound ocean structure motion analysis program for time-domain simulation of passing ship effects induced by multiple post-Panamax class ships in the exact condition of a real waterway. The exact seabed bathymetry was reproduced to the utmost precision attainable using the NOAA geophysical database for Virginia Beach, NOAA nautical charts for Hampton Roads and Norfolk harbor, and echo sounding data for the navigation channel and waterfront facilities. A parametric study consists of 112 simulation cases with various combinations of ship lanes, ship speeds, ship heading (inbound or outbound), channel depths, drift angles, and passing ship coupling (in head-on or overtaking encounters) were carried out for two waterfront facilities at NAVSTA Norfolk and Craney Island Fuel Terminal. The present paper provides detailed parametric study results at both locations to investigate the site-specific passing ship effects on the motion responses of ships moored at nearby piers.

Simulation and signal conditioning on the time domain surface elevation records are conducted to verify the proposed Welch's method in non-directional ocean wave spectrum analysis. These spectrum data are further conditioned to provide wave characteristic that better describe the sea states. Comparison of significant wave height and zero crossing period between the proposed method and a reference toolkit are presented.
In the recent decade, practical of wavelet technique is being utilized in various domain of science. Particularly, engineers are interested to the wavelet solution method in the time series analysis. Fundamentally, seismic responses of structures against time history loading such as an earthquake, illustrates optimum capability of systems. In this paper, a procedure using particularly discrete Haar wavelet basis functions is introduced, to solve dynamic equation of motion. In the proposed approach, a straightforward formulation in a fluent manner is derived from the approximation of the displacements. For this purpose, Haar operational matrix is derived and applied in the dynamic analysis. It's free-scaled matrix converts differential equation of motion to the algebraic equations. It is shown that accuracy of dynamic responses relies on, access of load in the first step, before piecewise analysis added to the technique of equation solver in the last step for large scale of wavelet. To demonstrate the effectiveness of this scheme, improved formulations are extended to the linear and nonlinear structural dynamic analysis. The validity and effectiveness of the developed method is verified with three examples. The results were compared with those from the numerical methods such as Duhamel integration, Runge-Kutta and Wilson-${\theta}$ method.

As offshore oil fields move towards the deep ocean, the oil production systems such as FPSO are being built these days. Generally, the FPSO is moored by turret mooring lines to keep the position of FPSO. Thus nonlinear motion analysis of moored FPSO must be carried out in the initial design stage because sea environments affect motion of it. In this paper the mathematical model is based on the slow motion maneuvering equations in the horizontal plane considering wave, current and wind forces. The direct integration method is employed to estimate wave loads. The current forces are calculated by using mathematical model of MMG. The turret mooring forces are quasi-statically evaluated by using the catenary equation. The coefficients of a model for wind forces are calculated from Isherwood's experimental data and the variation of wind speed is estimated by wind spectrum according to the guidelines of API-RP2A. The nonlinear motions of FPSO are simulated under external forces due to wave, current, wind including mooring forces in time domain.

In this paper, nonlinear nonplanar vibration of a flexible rectangular cantilever beam is analyzed when one-to-one resonance occurs to the beam. The planar and nonplanar motions of the beam are analyzed in time and frequency domains. In frequency domain, FFT analyzer is used to perform autospectrum and cepstrum analyses for nonlinear response of the beam. In time domain, an oscilloscope is used to investigate the phase difference between the planar and nonplanar motions and to perform Torus analysis in the phase space. Through those analyzing process, the main frequencies of superharmonic, subharmonic, and super-subharmonic motions are investigated in the nonplanar motion due to one-to-one resonance. Analyzing the phase difference between the planar and nonplanar motions, it is observed that the phase difference varies in time.

A numerical analysis for large amplitude motions of submerged circular cylinder is presented. The method is based on potential theory and two-dimensional motions in regular harmonic waves are tented as an initial value problem. The fully nonlinear free surface boundary condition is assumed in an inner domain and this solution is matched along an assumed an assumed common boundary to a linear solution in outer domain. Calculations of the large amplitude motion of a submerged circular cylinder are directly simulated in time domain. It is shown that relative motion between the body and fluid particle gives a significant effect on the lift and drift motions.
