  • In this paper, we point out the possibility of the divergence of control input caused by the estimation error of delay-time when general iterative learning algorithms are applied to a class of linear dynamic systems with time-delay in which delay-time is not exactly measurable, and then propose a new type of iterative learning algorithm in order to solve this problem. To resolve the uncertainty of delay-time, we propose an algorithm using holding mechanism which has been used in digital control system and/or discrete-time control system. The control input is held as constant value during the time interval of which size is that of the delay-time uncertainty. The output of the system tracks a given desired trajectory at discrete points which are spaced auording to the size of uncertainty of delay-time with the robust property for estimation error of delay-time. Several numerical examples are given to illustrate the effeciency of the proposed algorithm.

  • Digital control of robot manipulator employs discrete-time robot models. It is important to explore effective discrete-time robot models and to analyze their properties in control system designs. This paper presents a new type discrete-time robot model. The model is derived by using trapezoid rule to approximate the convolution integral term, then eliminating nonlinear force terms from robot dynamical equations. The new model obtained has very simple structure, and owns the properties of independence to the nonlinear force terms. According to evaluation criteria, three aspects of the model properties: model accuracy, model validity range and model simplicity are examined and compared with commonly used discrete-time robot models. The validity of the proposed model and its advantages to control system designs are verified by simulation results.

  • We propose a new technique to the design and real-time implementation of an adaptive controller for robotic manipulator based on digital signal processors in this paper. The Texas Instruments DSPs(TMS320C80) chips are used in implementing real-time adaptive control algorithms to provide enhanced motion control performance for dual-arm robotic manipulators. In the proposed scheme, adaptation laws are derived from model reference adaptive control principle based on the improved direct Lyapunov method. The proposed adaptive controller consists of an adaptive feed-forward and feedback controller and time-varying auxiliary controller elements. The proposed control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for real-time control. Moreover, this scheme does not require any accurate dynamic modeling, nor values of manipulator parameters and payload. Performance of the proposed adaptive controller is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for a dual arm robot consisting of two 4-d.o.f. robots at the joint space and cartesian space.

  • A Discrete Event Dynamic System is a system whose states change in response to the occurrence of events from a predefined event set. A major difficulty in developing analytical results for the systems is the lack of appropriate modeling techniques. This paper proposes the use of Real-time Temporal Logic as a modeling tool for the modeling and control of fixed-time traffic control problem which by way of a DEDS. The Real-time Temporal Logic Frameworks is extended with a suitable structure of modeling hard real-time constraints. Modeling rules are developed for several specific situations. It is shown how the graphical model can be translated to a system of linear equations and constraints.

  • In the real-field of control cases for robot manipulators, there always exists a modeling error, which results the model has the uncertainties in its parameters and/or structure. In many modem applications, digital computers are extensively used to implement control algorithms to control such systems. The discretization of the nonlinear dynamic equations of such systems results in a complicated discrete dynamic equations. Therefore, it will be difficult to design a discrete-time controller to give good tracking performances in the presence of certain uncertainties. In this paper, a discrete-time sliding mode control algorithm for nonlinear and time varying robot manipulators with uncertainties is presented. Sufficient conditions for guaranteeing the convergence of the discrete-time SMC system are derived. As example simulations, the proposed SMC algorithm is applied to a two-link robotic manipulator with unknown dynamics. The results of the simulation indicate that the developed control scheme is effective in manipulators and electro-mechanical system control.

  • We propose a control law in discrete time domain of the bilateral feedback teleoperation system using neural network and the reference model type of adaptive control. Different from traditional teleoperation systems, the transmission time delay irregularly changes. The proposed control method controls master and slave systems through identification of master and slave models using neural networks.

  • This paper presents the altitude control of a quadrotor system under the disturbance. The altitude is measured by an ultra sonic sensor attached at the bottom of the quadrotor system and the measured altitude data are used in the time-delayed controller. To test the robustness of the controller, a weight attached to the center of the system is dropped intentionally several times to cause disturbances to the system. Performances of the altitude control by the PID control and time-delayed control method are compared experimentally. Experimental studies are conducted to verify the outperformance of the time-delayed controller for controlling the altitude of the quadrotor system under disturbances.

  • This paper discusses tracking position control of linear actuator that has a time delay. The time delay happens when the process reads the sensor data and sends the control input to the plant located at a remote site in distributed control system. In this thesis, the time delay between the linear actuator and the discrete PID controller has constant value due to buffer device so the time delay can be modeled by Pade approximation but the large position error of the linear actuator is generated by the time delay. Therefore, the Smith predictor is used for tracking position control of the linear actuator with the time delay in order to minimize the effect of the time delay. The experimental and simulation results show that the ...

  • An iterative learning control system is a control system which makes system outputs follow desired outputs by iterating its trials over a finite time interval. In a discrete time system, we proposed one method in which present control inputs can be obtained by a linear combination of the input sequence and time-shifted error sequence at previous trial. In contrast with a continous time learning control system which needs differential opreration of an error signal, the time shift operation of the error sequence is simpler in a computer control system and its effectiveness is shown by a simulation.

  • This paper discuss the real-time self-tuning learning control based on evolutionary computation, which proves its the superiority in the finding of the optimal solution at the off-line learning method. The individuals are reduced in order to learn the evolutionary strategy in real-time, and new method that guarantee the convergence of evolutionary mutations are proposed. It possible to control the control object varied as time changes. As the state value of the control object is generated, applied evolutionary strategy each sampling time because the learning process of an estimation, selection, mutation in real-time. These algorithms can be applied, the people who do not have knowledge about the technical tuning of dynamic systems could design the controller or problems in which the characteristics of the system dynamics are slightly varied as time changes.
