The mechanical properties of heat-compressed Radiata pine (Pinus radiata D.Don) by compression temperature and time were investigated. The compressive strength and bending strength of heat-compressed wood increased with increasing compression temperature and time. But the compressive strength and bending strength decreased with press temperature $220^{\circ}C$. It was considered due to thermal degradation during high temperature conditions. The surface hardness of heat-compressed wood increased with increasing compression temperature. However, the effect of compression time was negligible. The nail holding power was not affected by compression temperature and time.
We consider a time-cost tradeoff problem with multiple milestones under a chain precedence graph. In the problem, some penalty occurs unless a milestone is completed before its appointed date. This can be avoided through compressing the processing time of the jobs with additional costs. We describe the compression cost as the convex or the concave function. The objective is to minimize the sum of the total penalty cost and the total compression cost. It has been known that the problems with the concave and the convex cost functions for the compression are NP-hard and polynomially solvable, respectively. Thus, we consider the special cases such that the cost functions or maximal compression amounts of each job are identical. When the cost functions are convex, we show that the problem with the identical costs functions can be solved in strongly polynomial time. When the cost functions are concave, we show that the problem remains NP-hard even if the cost functions are identical, and develop the strongly polynomial approach for the case with the identical maximal compression amounts.

This study was conducted to propose the model that is able to predict long-term settlement of sands containing carbonates. We can observe that in addition to the initial elastic compression, a considerable additional compression occurs with long-term period in some sands. The compressibility of sands is significantly dependent on particle characteristics. Some sands have many pores and particularly has an angular shape. To predict of long-term settlement of these sands which contain carbonates, first of all a variety of tests which are to assess chemical, physical and compression characteristics of these sands were conducted. Second, in order to know settlement with time, the time parameter was determined by analyzing the measured data obtained from $\bigcirc\bigcirc$ area. The measured settlement of this area shows that in addition to the initial elastic compression, a considerable additional compression occurring with time. It was caused by the crushing, shattering, and rearrangement of particles, which were real phenomena in sandy soils under loading condition. Based on this case study, we proposed that a simple method is able to predict settlement with time of sandy soil containing carbonates.
Purpose: This study aimed to compare the effect of chest compression and the resulting ventilation volume in walking cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), straddling CPR, and mechanical CPR while moving manikins to main stretchers. Methods: We compared the chest compressions in terms of compression depth, number of incomplete releases, complete release depth, compression rate, duration between peak time of previous compression and peak time of current compression, and respiration. We analyzed the compression comparatively with the ventilation volume in three different types of CPR. Results: The chest compression depth was significantly improved during straddling CPR as compared to walking CPR, during which women were unable to achieve sufficient chest compression depth. A constant chest compression depth was maintained during mechanical CPR. Conclusion: High-quality chest compressions were difficult to achieve in moving spaces. Further, walking CPR may be helpful in men, but straddling or applying automatic chest compressions in women would result in more effective CPR. Our findings demonstrate the limitations and trends in administering CPR in men and women, which may be useful in devising better education and training methods in the future.

The important issue in header compression would be how to compress the dynamic field increasing constantly between consecutive packets in the head of IP wireless networks. Existent header compression scheme that can eliminated repeated field in header are RFC2507, RFC3095 and E-ROHC scheme. In this paper, I propose a new method of compressing TS fields, which are the Dynamic fields of the RTP packet, into BCB (Basic Compression Bits) basic bits or NCB (Negotiation Compression Bits, BCB + additional bits) bits. In order to verify the proposed header compression method, I have simulation about proposed video packets of IP wireless networks. using Visual SLAM.

The purpose of this study was to find more effective method through comparison of manual chest compression and chest compression using $AutoPulse^{TM}$ device in pre-hospital simulation cardiac arrest. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, ambulance workers did two different style CPR in pre-hospital simulation cardiac arrest. Data analyzed by T test and ANOVA. Findings of this study are as follows. Firstly, manual chest compression is more effective than chest compression using $AutoPulse^{TM}$ device on scene. Secondly, chest compression using $AutoPulse^{TM}$ device is more effective manual chest compression in ambulance and in elevator. In conclusion, these findings provide strong evidence for the importance of hands off time and stable CPR before hospital arrival in explaining patient's prognosis. Therefore, strategies to conduct precise hands off time and stable CPR are needed to improve patient's prognosis.
Densification of the inner part of oil palm trunk (OPT) by the close system compression (CSC) method was performed in this study. The effects of the compression temperature and time on the anatomical, physical and mechanical properties of OPT were evaluated. The inner part of OPT with an initial average density of $0.3g/cm^3$ was used as samples. Oven-dried samples were immersed in water and vacuumed until fully saturated and then compressed by CSC at 120, 140, 160 or $180^{\circ}C$ for 10, 20, 30 or 40 min. The anatomical characteristics of transverse and radial sections before and after compression were compared by optical microscopy. The physical and mechanical properties, including the density, recovery of set (RS), modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR), and compression parallel to grain were examined. It was observed that the anatomical characteristic of the inner part of OPT (i.e., vascular bundles, vessels, and parenchyma tissue) became flattened, fractured, and collapsed after compression by CSC. The RS decreased with increasing compression temperature and time. The lower RS indicated high dimensional stability. The physical and mechanical properties (i.e., density, MOR, MOE, and compressive strength) of the inner part of OPT increased with increasing compression temperature and time. Compression by the CSC method at $160^{\circ}C$ for 40 min was the optimum treatment.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of levels of education on ground reaction force and center of pressure parameters during chest compression resuscitation. Method: Twenty male university students were divided into two groups; certified group (CG, n=10) and non-certified group (NCG, n=10). Two force plates were used to measure ground reaction force and center of pressure parameters during 30 times (three trials) chest compression resuscitation. Independent t-tests were used to compare ground reaction force and center of pressure parameters between two groups. An alpha level of 0.05 was used in all tests. Results: All chest-compression time parameters (total time, 1 systolic time, and diastolic time) in CG were significantly shorter than those in NCG (p<.05). Fy of the diastolic and Fz of the systolic in CG revealed significantly the larger GRF values and Fy of the systolic in CG showed significantly the smaller GRF value (p<.05). The standard deviation of Fz of the systolic and diastolic within the subject during 30 times chest-compression resuscitation revealed significantly the smaller values in CG (p<.05). Conclusion: First, CG performed chest compressions efficiently at an appropriate rate compared to NCG. Second, CG showed lower Fx and Fy values in both the mediolateral and anteroposterior axes compared to NCG, which reduced unnecessary chest-compression force consumption and minimized the movement in patients with cardiac arrest. Third, CG showed high Fz value of the systolic and low Fz value of the diastolic. Based on this, chest compression resuscitation was performed to increase the survival rate of cardiac arrest patients.

As a large amount of data generated by sensors or devices at the manufacturing site is transmitted to the server or client, problems arise in network processing time delay and storage resource cost increase. To solve this problem, considering the manufacturing site, where real-time responsiveness and non-disruptive processes are essential, QRC (Quotient Remainder Compression) and BL_beta compression algorithms that enable real-time and lossless compression were applied to actual manufacturing site sensor data for the first time. As a result of the experiment, BL_beta had a higher compression rate than QRC. As a result of experimenting with the same data by slightly adjusting the data size of QRC, the compression rate of the QRC algorithm with the adjusted data size was 35.48% and 20.3% higher than the existing QRC and BL_beta compression algorithms.

To complement the conventional fusion methodologies of state fusion and measurement fusion, a time-propagated measurement fusion methodology is proposed. Various aspects of common process noise are investigated regarding information preservation. Based on time-propagated measurement fusion methodology, four compression filters are derived. The derived compression filters are efficient in asynchronous sensor fusion and fault detection since they maintain correct statistical information. A new batch Kalman recursion is proposed to show the optimality under the time-propagated measurement fusion methodology. A simple simulation result evaluates estimation efficiency and characteristic.
