An Implementation of Time Code Generator for Sending Real Time Information (실 시각정보 전송을 위한 시각코드발생기 제작)

  • In this paper, we propose a system that can be used to provide the national standard time for the general public with ease by using the self-implemented independent time-code generator for transmitting standard time information through both the wired and the wireless networks. The newly proposed time code is different from conventional methods in the point that it has a structural advantage of having an ability of obtaining reliable data by repeatedly transmitting the same information. We observe that it is sufficiently possible to transmit the time information with a microsecond level because measurement result shows that the system uncertainty is about few nanosecond of time-error fluctuation through the self characteristic measurement of total system including the time-code generator and decoder system receiving time-information.

Drivers' Acceptable levels of the Accuracy of Travel Time Information and Their Valuations (통행시간 정보 정확도에 대한 운전자들의 허용수준과 화폐가치)

  • PURPOSES : The accuracy of travel time information is a key measure of effectiveness and reliability of advanced traveler information systems. This study aims at investigating drivers' perception on the acceptable level of information accuracy and their corresponding valuations. METHODS : A questionnaire survey was executed for collecting driver perception data to capture the expectation level of travel time information provided and their willingness to pay for the information. A Tobit model was adopted for exploring the relationship among the acceptable level, driver socioeconomic characteristics and travel attributes. Since drivers' willingness to pay for accurate travel time information can be different according to their travel lengths, a piecewise linear regression model was developed to capture the sensitivity of values of travel time information to travel length. RESULTS : The analysis results suggest that trip purpose and travel time are two dominant factors to determine drivers' acceptable level of travel time information. For business and short trips, drivers want more accurate information than for non-business and long trips. Drivers' willingness to pay for travel time information also varies depending on their incomes, trip purposes and travel lengths. The results also show that drivers' valuation of travel time information provided is sensitive to their travel length. For longer trips, drivers are less sensitive to travel time information and then put less value on the information provided. CONCLUSIONS : Censored nonlinear regression models are developed to estimate drivers' acceptable accuracy for travel time information and their valuation using questionnaire survey data. The findings on drivers perception to the required accuracy of travel time information and their corresponding willingness to pay can be used in the design and deployment of advanced traveler information system to improve its effectiveness and usefulness through high compliance.

  • Information is an essential factor leading the rapid progress which is one of the distinguished characteristics in modem society. As more information is required and as more is supplied by individuals, governmental units, businesses, and educational institutions, the greater will be the requirement for efficient methods of communication. One possibility for improving the information dissemination process is to use computers. The capabilities of such machine are beginning to be used in the process of Information storage, retrieval and dissemination. An important problems, that must be carefully examined is whether one technique for information retrieval is better for worse than another. This paper examines problem of how to evaluate an information retrieval system. One specific approach is a cost accounting model for use in studying how to minimize the cost of operating a mechanized retrieval system. Through the use of cost analysis, the model provides a method for comparative evaluation between systems. The general cost accounting model of the literature retrieval system being designed by this study are given below. 1. The total cost accounting model of the literature retrieval system. The total cost of the literature retrieval system = (the cost per unit of user time X the amount of user time) + ( the cost per unit of system time X the amount of system time) 2. System cost accounting model system cost = (the pre-search system cost per unit of time X time) + (the search system cost per unit of time X time) + (the post search system cost per unit of time X time) 1) Pre-search system cost per unit of time = cost of channel per unit time + cost of central processing unit per unit time + cost of storage per unit time 2) Search system cost per unit of time = comparison cost + document representation cost. 3) Post-search system cost per unit of time. = cost of channel per unit time + cost of central processing unit per unit time + cost of storage per unit time 3. User cost accounting model Total user cost = [pre-search user cost per unit of time X (time + additional time) ] + [search user cost per unit of time X (time + additional time) ] + [post-search user cost per unit of time X (time + additional time) ].

  • Mutual information is useful for analyzing nonlinear dependence in time series in much the same way as correlation is used to characterize linear dependence. We use multivariate kernel density estimators for the estimation of mutual information at different time lags for single and multiple time series. This approach is tested on a variety of hydrologic data sets, and suggested an appropriate delay time $ au$ at which the mutual information is almost zerothen multi-dimensional phase portraits could be constructed from measurements of a single scalar time series.

  • While there are many services that can check current traffic condition and application program such as bus arrival alarm are developed, since it only provide simple alarm and check level of information, it is still insufficient in many senses. Therefore, the program that try to develop in this study is the system that predict arrival time to destination and inform the bus passengers by applying real time traffic information. The system developed related to this study is still very inadequate. In the system developed in this thesis, when the user input the current bus number and destination using smart-phone, relevant server acquire the bus route information from bus information DB, and analyze real time traffic information based on the information from traffic information DB, and inform customer of expected arrival time to destination. In this thesis, traffic congestion can be eased off and regular operation of public transportation can be improved with reliable destination arrival alarm. Also, it is considered that pattern of bus users can be analyzed by using these information, and analyzing average transport speed and time of public transportation, travel time depending on various situation can give a boost to study related to transportation information and its development.

  • In this paper, we consider the information processing system, which organizes the collected data to meaningful information when the number of data collected from multiple sources reaches to a predetermined number, and performs any action by processing the collected data, or transmits to other devices or systems. We derive an analytical model to calculate the time until it takes to process information after starting to collect data. Therefore, in order to complete the processing data within certain time constraints, we develop some design criteria to control various parameters of the information processing system. Also, we analyze the discrete time model for packet switching networks considering data with no particular arrival nor drop pattern. We analyze the relationship between the number of required packets and average information processing time through numerical examples. By this, we show that the proposed model is able to design the system to be suitable for user's requirements being complementary the quality of information and the information processing time in the system with time constraints.

A Study on the Algorithm of Improved One-Time Password using Time and Time Correction (시간을 이용한 효율적인 일회용 패스워드 및 시간 교정 알고리즘)

  • In clients/server environments, the one-time password scheme using time is especially useful because it solves the synchronization problem. However, it has the problem that is time-slippage, and causes the authentication to fail. In this paper, we propose an effective one-time password algorithm, which solves the time-slippage problem through the use of 1-bit information, which denotes the duration in which the authentication could be failed because of time-slippage. This algorithm is added easily and quickly to current one-time password systems using time without requiring any change of protocols: the proposed algorithm can be implemented by adding only 1-bit information to the user authentication information, not by modifying the one-time password authentication system protocol. And we propose also the algorithm of time correction, which can be implemented by adding 2-bit information on the proposed one-time password.

  • This paper aims to estimate the delay time of multiple signals in a multi-path environment. It also seeks to carry out a comparative analysis with the existing delay time under the proposed algorithm to develop a new algorithm that applies the space average method in a MUSIC algorithm. Unlike the existing delay time estimation algorithm, the developed algorithm was able to estimate the delay time in 5ns low. Therefore, the algorithm proposed in this paper improved the existing delay time estimated algorithm.

The Effect of Consumer Time Perception on the Information Search Behavior (소비자 시간지각이 정보탐색행동에 미치는 영향 -가전제품을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between time perception and information search behavior of consumers. Data were obtained from 380 married people living in Seoul: 141 men and 239 women. Time perception was identified in two ways: one with time pressure and the other with time inclination, Information search behavior divided into three parts: search time search activity and content search. The results of this research indicated that there were significant relationship between consumer's time perception and each of information search behavior. The results of this study can be attributed to develop the efficient information search be attributed to dvelop the efficient information search behavior of consumers and to understand time perception variables related the consumer search behavior.

Analysis of Real-time Error for Geo/D/1/1 Model (Geo/D/1/1 모형에서의 실시간 원격 추정값의 오차 분석)

  • In this paper, we study real-time error in the context of monitoring a binary information source through a delay system. To derive the average real-time error, we model the delay system as a discrete time Geo/D/1/1 queueing model. Using a discrete time three-dimensional Markov chain with finite state space, we analyze the queueing model. We also perform some numerical analysis on various system parameters: state transition probabilities of binary information source; transmission times; and transmission frequencies. When the state changes of the information source are positively correlated and negatively correlated, we investigate the relationship between transmission time and transmission frequency.
