  • In this paper, we introduced the tiling, for closed plane curves ${\alpha}(s)$, and we discussed the properties of tiling. Also if ${\alpha}(s)$ was arbitrary plane closed curve equipped by tiling ${\Im}$ then we studied the effect of retraction and tiling retraction on it.

  • Recently, many cleaning robots have been made with various algorithms for efficient cleaning. One of them is a DmaxCoverage algorithm which efficiently clean for the situation when the robot has a time limit. This algorithm uses Rectangle Tiling method for finding the biggest rectangle that doesn't have any obstacle. When the robot uses grid map, Rectangle Tiling method can find the optimal value. Rectangle Tiling method is to find all of the rectangles in the grid map. But when the grid map is big, it has a problem that spends a lot of times because of the large numbers of rectangles. In this paper, we propose Four Direction Rectangle Scanning(FDRS) method that has similar accuracy but faster than Rectangle Tiling method. FDRS method is not to find all of the rectangle, but to search the obstacle's all directions. We will show the FDRS method's performance by comparing of FDRS and Rectangle Tiling methods.

  • A generalized tiling is defined as a generalization of the properties of tiling a region of ${\mathbb{Z}}^2$ with dominoes, and comprises tiling with rhombus and any other tilings that admits height functions which can be ordered into a distributive lattice. By using properties of the distributive lattice, we prove that the Markov chain consisting of moving from one height function to the next by a flip is fast mixing and the mixing time ${\tau}({\epsilon})$ is given by ${\tau}({\epsilon}){\leq}(kmn)^3(mn\;{\ln}\;k+{\ln}\;{\epsilon}^{-1})$, where mn is the area of the grid ${\Gamma}$ that is a k-regular polycell. This result generalizes the result of the authors (T-tetromino tiling Markov chain is fast mixing, Theor. Comp. Sci. (2018)) and improves on the mixing time obtained by using coupling arguments by N. Destainville and by M. Luby, D. Randall, A. Sinclair.

  • This paper presents the method to provide a fast service for user in image manipulation such as zooming and panning of huge size high resolution satellite image (e.g. Giga bytes per scene). The proposed technique is based on the hierarchical structure that has 3D-Tiling in horizontal and vertical direction to provide the image service more effectively than 2D-Tiling technique in the past does. The essence of the proposed technique is to create tiles that have optimum level of horizontal as well as vertical direction on the basis of current displaying area which changes as user manipulates huge image. So this technique provides seamless service, and will be very powerful and useful for manipulation of images of huge size without data conversion.

  • The tile-based rendering technique which divides the screen area into tiles of a specific size and creates a 3D graphic model of one tile at a time is used to efficiently utilize limited resources in a 3D graphic pipeline. In this paper, the tiling speed of tile-based rendering was improved by reducing the count of calling lower-levels in the hierarchical tile-based rendering technique. The tiling speed of the proposed Rasterizer is 13.030ms which is 56% faster than 29.614ms of multi-sort tiling and 24% faster than 17.208ms of the conventional hierarchical tiling technique.

  • When teaching traditional pattern-themed textile design, it has been found that many students struggle during the investigation stage of traditional patterns and complete the development of patterns in relatively simple layout methods, such as block patterns and half drop patterns. Until now, digital textile design textbooks lack content on how to develop patterns. Judging that the current teaching method leads to difficulties in developing a new sense of textile design, this study focused on Heesch-tiling tessellation and software called TESS, a program that can transform patterns themselves. This study is an academic study on the methodology of first developing patterns through TESS, a tessellation program developed for elementary school students in the U.S., and then applying various lines and colors to the complete patterns and textures using Adobe Illustrator. In this study, the concept, formative characteristics, and generative principles of Heesch-tiling tessellation were examined, and the process of developing new patterns using the TESS program, which can be used to create patterns through Heesch-tiling principles, was intended to help in textile design education. Therefore, after analyzing the comprehensive concepts and principles of tessellation, the next step is to understand the principles and the characteristics of pattern making only for Heesch-tiling tessellation, and then ultimately to develop new patterns. While patterns using traditional tessellation layouts have been characterized mainly by repeated geometric shapes, Heesch-tiling tessellation can express surrealistic attributes, such as those by painter M. C. Escher or style elements such as those in neo-pop.

  • The aim of the research is providing a fundamental data on quality and constructability of direct tile setting method depending on various cement to sand ratio for tiling dry cement mortar. A large number of tile setting failures reported is related with the cement mortar and its construction for tiling. Because of different materials of tiles, the properties of tiling dry cement mortar, an adhesive for tiling, can influence on quality and constructability of tiling differently. Practically, the easiest way of controlling the properties of the tiling dry cement mortar is to control the proportion of cement and sand. Hence, in this research, sand to cement ratio (S/C) was controlled. Since there is no standarized method on evaluating performance of dry cement mortar for tiling, a several sensory evaluation methods were suggested and executed. According to the experiments conducted in this research, the adhesive performance of cement mortar for tiles can be different depending on the sides such as tile and substrate. Additionally, depending on S/C, finishability, initial adhesive performance, and tile shifting resistance can be changed for ceramic tile. Therefore, under the conditions of this research, about 5 of S/C can be recommended for appropriate performace of tiling dry cement mortar.

  • We will construct several types of semi-regular tilings of a hyperbolic unit disk model by defining geometric features of the definition of distance in a hyperbolic plane, area of triangle, and isometry of inversions. We researched the method of regular tilings and semi-regular tilings of hyperbolic unit disk model and wrote an semi-regular tiling construction algorithm using Cabri2 program and Cinderella program. Lastly, We want to make a product related to traditional heritage cultural patterns using Photoshop, so we'll model the advertising photos of cites; Seoul, Gwangju.
