  • This paper presents a position control system for a linear induction motor(LIM) with cage-type secondary using direct thrust control(DTC). The position controller, that combines the merits of integral-proportional(IP) speed control, is designed for the LIM. The actual position of the LIM is defected by the linear scale the resolution of 100. Thrust correction coefficient due to the end effect of the LIM is utilized in estimating actual thrust. As a result, responses of the position, speed, thrust, and flux are shown.

  • Permanent magnet-excited transverse flux linear motor(TFLM) is known to have more excellent ratio of force to weight than any other linear motors. But, thrust generated by phase current is non-linear with regard to current and relative position like switched reluctance motor. This makes current and speed controller design difficult. This paper presents a method on minimization of thrust ripple of permanent magnet-excited transverse flux linear motor. Using genetic algorithm(GA), optimal current waveform can be found under the constraint conditions such as current limit, minimum of ohmic loss and limited rate of change of current etc. The effectiveness is verified through computer simulation and experimental test results.

  • In general, the thrust vector control should be fast and stable in the initial launch phase. Two types of conventional controllers, one is for pitch angle control and the other is for pitch rate control, are designed based on the equation of motion without aerodynamics and are compared in the viewpoints of the stability margin and the time response performance. Also analyzed are the rejection capabilities to cope with high aerodynamic disturbances caused by high angle of attacks in initial booting phase. Additionally, time response features at actuator saturation are investigated. Based on those results, we suggest a controller structure which is more suitable for thrust vector control of missiles at initial booting phase.

  • The stator phase winding of a linear pulse motor, which is a new type of linear motor, is comprised of two phases and is structurally characterized by a stacking method in which the winding of one phase is laid on top of the winding of another phase. Such a structural characteristic induces a difference in the flux linkage resulting from the flux of each stator phase winding in the same condition. The difference in the induced flux linkage acts as a kind of thrust ripple component in terms of the generated thrust. Thus, in order to maintain consistent thrust force, a method is required to solve the problem caused by the structural singularity. Hence, in this study, we present a technique for reducing the thrust force ripple generated by the stacking of the stator phase windings of a linear pulse motor through the generation of a compensating current reference value of the current controller in order to keep the torque constant. The proposed compensating algorithm is validated by simulations and experimental results.

  • In our research we have offered a solid solution for aeronautical analysis. which can guarantee the asymptotic stability of coupled nonlinear facilities. According to the theoretical solutions and methods presented, the engine of this aircraft is a small high-bypass turbofan engine. using the non-linear aero-motor control approach and this paper focuses on the power management function of the aero-motor control system. These include static controls and transient controls. A mathematical model of the high-bypass-ratio two-spool unmixed-flow aeroengine was developed through a set of nonlinear dynamic equations verified by experimental data. A single actuator using the displacement method is designed to maintain a certain level of thrust under steady-state conditions. and maintains repeatable performance during transient operation from the requested thrust phase to the next. A single controller can compensate for the effects of noise and harmonic noise at many performance points. And the dynamic performance of a single controller is satisfactory during the transient. for fairness Numerical and computer experiments are described in the perfection of the methods we offer in research.

  • Aqua is an underwater biomimetic vehicle designed and built at McGill University that uses six paddles to produce control and propulsion forces. It has the particularity of having time-periodic thrust due to its oscillating paddles. Using an existing model of the vehicle, two types of controller were developed: a PD controller and a Floquet controller. The Floquet controller has the advantage of explicitly addressing the time-periodicity of the system. The performance of the controllers was assessed through simulation and experimentally in the Caribbean Sea. We find that the vehicle was able to follow the prescribed trajectories with relative accuracy using both controllers, though, the Floquet controller slightly outperforms the PD controller. Furthermore, a key advantage of the Floquet controller is that it requires no tuning while the PD controller had to be tuned by trial and error.

  • This paper deals with the NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) 5-MW reference wind turbine. The controller which include MPPT (Maximum power point tracking) control algorithm and tower load reduction control algorithm was designed by MATLAB Simulink. This paper propose a tower damper algorithm to improve the existing tower damper algorithm. To improve the existing tower damper algorithm, proposed tower damper algorithm were applied the thrust sensitivity scheduling and PI control method. The thrust sensitivity scheduling was calculated by thrust force formula which include thrust coefficient table. Power and Tower root moment DEL (Damage Equivalent Load) was set as a performance index to verify the load reduction algorithm. The simulation were performed 600 seconds under the wind conditions of the NTM (Normal Turbulence Model), TI (Turbulence Intensity)16% and 12~25m/s average wind speed. The effect of the proposed tower damper algorithm is confirmed through PSD (Power Spectral Density). The proposed tower damper algorithm reduces the fore-aft moment DEL of the tower up to 6% than the existing tower damper algorithm.

  • In this paper, the thrust control of PWM Inverter-fed SLIM(Single-sided Linear Induction Motor) is achieved by vector control and PID control with DSP(TMS320C32). SLIM which used as a conveyor has required the quick response and the constant operating without air gap trembling while it conveys load. Thus, SLIM should have the smallest trembling of air gap length. First, voltage equations for SLIM are calculated from the proposed equivalent circuit in this peper, and not only the exciting current but also the thrust component are obtained from them. The thrust current ripple can be reduced by the vector controller using a slip angle frequency, and the PID controller is also use for the position control.

  • Dynamic behavior simulation of supersonic engine was performed and PI control algorithm was studied for the buzz control in the inlet and the thrust control. Firstly, required thrust was tracked according to the fuel flow control and then inlet pressure was regulated through the nozzle throat area control so that the buzz margin has the positive all the time. The control was performed according to the change of flight Mach number, altitude and angle of attack. The proportional gain and the integral gain for regulating the buzz margin was induced and simulated. In the results, it was confirmed and satisfied that control target in the operating area was changed the angle of attack from $0^{\circ}$ to $10^{\circ}$ at the flight Mach number of 2.1~3.0.

  • Dynamic Positioning (DP) is used to automatically maintain the position and heading of a floating structure subjected to environmental disturbances. A DP control system is composed of a motion controller to compute the desired force and moment and a thrust allocator to distribute the computed force and moment to multiple thrusters considering mechanical and operational constraints. Among various thruster configurations, azimuth thrusters or propeller/rudder pairs tend to make the allocation problem difficult to solve, because these types of propulsion systems include nonlinear constraints. In this paper, a dynamic positioning strategy for a twin-thruster ship that is propelled by two azimuthing thrusters is addressed, and a thrust allocation method which does not require a numerical optimization solver is proposed. The applicability of the proposed method is demonstrated with an experiment using an autonomous boat.
