The Internet possesses not only features of mass media but also features of word of mouth communication. Communication channel is considered as one of most important variables in diffusion process. In this paper, we examined functionality of technology diffusion on the Internet through the use of meta tags. We have measured the coefficients of the Bass diffusion model which has been well-established in new product diffusion. This research shows that the Bass model is appropriate for describing technology diffusion on the Internet. The external influence as represented by the coefficient of innovation was found to be much smaller while the internal influence dominates in all meta tag diffusion. In meta tag diffusion, the internal influence as represented by the coefficient of imitation was increased at least twice bigger than that of consumer durables and information technology. Collecting necessary data in social sciences research can be a burden. This research shows that it can be alleviated through the use of software agents over the Internet. The research made use of software agents for collecting longitudinal data from publicly accessible archive such as Archive.org.
The soot formation characteristics have been studied experimentally in concentric co-flow ethylene/propane diffusion flames. Comparing to the homogeneously mixed propane/ethylene case, the increase of soot formation is observed when propane is supplied through the outer nozzle, while the decrease is observed when propane is supplied through the inner nozzle. The reaction path of PAHs formed from the pyrolysis process of propane is likely to be responsible to the observed difference. When propane is supplied through the outer nozzle, PAHs formed during the combustion process are easy to be exposed to the oxidization environment; however, when propane is supplied through the inner nozzle, PAHs are not likely to be oxidized and thus get involved in soot formation process. The synergistic effect in ethylene/propane diffusion flames is affected not only by the composition of mixture but also by the way of mixing.
This article covers the fundamentals of stress-induced diffusion, focusing on the theoretical model for hydrogen transport through self-stressed electrode. First, the relationship between hydrogen diffusion and macroscopic deformation of the electrode specimen was briefly introduced, and then it was classified into the diffusion-elastic and elasto-diffusive phenomena. Next, the transport equation for the flux of hydrogen caused simultaneously by both the concentration gradient and the stress gradient was theoretically derived. Finally, stress-induced diffusion was discussed on the basis of the numerical solutions to the derived transport equation under the permeable and impermeable boundary conditions.
The research is to identify important diffusion factors and their effects on green car diffusion process using system dynamics perspectives and a causal-loop analysis. Through a deep review on previous research, we have found the important factors of green car diffusion process. Price, driving range, network effect, recharge system, fuel cost had important facilitation on consumer attraction and green car diffusion. Based on the review, we have constructed a causal loop diagram explaining hybrid car diffusion process. We have found 3 important reinforcing loops in the causal loop diagram. Loop for learning & economies of scale(supply side), loop for network effect(consumer side), and loop for battery development(technology side) had most significant roles in the whole diffusion process. Through a deliberate analysis on the 3 causal loops, we have found meaningful results. First, there seems to exist a critical mass in the diffusion. Second, of the 3 loops, the battery technology had most significant role. Third, not consumer installed base but sales must be a standard to decide whether the critical mass is achieved or not. Based on these findings, several meaningful implications are suggested for the government and corporations related to the green car industries.

An animated ink diffusion on paper is simulated through making a multiple sessions of random walks. The simulated random walk is built and validated against the diffusion model, then animated by varying the intensity thresholds of the accumulated visit counts on each pixels on an image. Two different random walk models are built one of which is a free random walk in that the walker has exactly same probability to move in any four or eight directions in each step. The other is a biased random walk that has a higher chance to go to a pixel that has more similar intensity value. The latter can be used to simulate an ink diffusion radiating through different texture of paper.
Analyzing information diffusion in a blog world is a very useful research issue, which can be used for predicting information diffusion, abnormally detection, marketing, and revitalizing the blog world. Existing studies on information diffusion in blog networks establish explicit relationship between blogs, and analyze only the word-of-mouth effect through such explicit relationships. However, we observed that more than 85% of all information diffusion in a blog world occurs through non-explicit relationships. In this paper, we propose a new model that considers both explicit and non-explicit relationships between blogs in order to explain all information diffusion phenomena in a blog world. We verify the superiority of our proposed models through extensive experiments of information diffusions at a real blog net-work.

Apparent diffusion coefficients of Cl-ions through hardened cement paste(HCP), which were partly substituted blending materials, were determined. Also, pore solution was extracted from HCP which were immersed in NaCl solution, and Cl- concentration of the solution were analyzed. Partly substitution of pozzolanic materials considerably reduced the diffusion rate for Cl-ions and Cl- concentration of pore solution. Binding capacity of Cl- is related to the content of Al2O3 and pozzolanic reactivity.
Prism sheet of LCD BLU which depends on supply from Japan and U.S.A was studied by using Si anisotropic etching and injection molding technologies. First, the prism sheet was patterned on Si wafer through photolithography, and the best conditions of Si etching were determined through etching Si wafer with TMAH to obtain straight optimized zigzag patterns, and a cross pattern to provide light diffusion and concurrent focusing. The etch rate of TMAH was concluded to be constant for $25wt%-70^{\circ}C$ condition. Ni stamp of prism sheet was made by electrodeposition using patterned Si wafer, normal or fast H/C(Heating/Cooling) injections were carried out to fabricate prism sheet. It was known that fast H/C injection could fabricate prism sheet more accurately than normal injection. Zigzag patterns and the cross pattern showed higher transmissivity than the straight patterns because of light diffusion through diagonal direction. The fast H/C injection for zigzag patterns showed lower transmissivity than normal injection because there occurred more light diffusion through precise injection patterns, but the fast H/C injection for straight patterns showed only refraction without diffusion, causing lower transmissivity than normal injection.
Introduction: Diffusion is process by which an innovation is communicated through certain channel overtime among the members of a social system(Rogers 1983). Bass(1969) suggested the Bass model describing diffusion process. The Bass model assumes potential adopters of innovation are influenced by mass-media and word-of-mouth from communication with previous adopters. Various expansions of the Bass model have been conducted. Some of them proposed a third factor affecting diffusion. Others proposed multinational diffusion model and it stressed interactive effect on diffusion among several countries. We add a spatial factor in the Bass model as a third communication factor. Because of situation where we can not control the interaction between markets, we need to consider that diffusion within certain market can be influenced by diffusion in contiguous market. The process that certain type of retail extends is a result that particular market can be described by the retail life cycle. Diffusion of retail has pattern following three phases of spatial diffusion: adoption of innovation happens in near the diffusion center first, spreads to the vicinity of the diffusing center and then adoption of innovation is completed in peripheral areas in saturation stage. So we expect spatial effect to be important to describe diffusion of domestic discount store. We define a spatial diffusion model using multinational diffusion model and apply it to the diffusion of discount store. Modeling: In this paper, we define a spatial diffusion model and apply it to the diffusion of discount store. To define a spatial diffusion model, we expand learning model(Kumar and Krishnan 2002) and separate diffusion process in diffusion center(market A) from diffusion process in the vicinity of the diffusing center(market B). The proposed spatial diffusion model is shown in equation (1a) and (1b). (1) The proposed spatial diffusion model is more effective than the Bass model to describe the diffusion of discount stores. (2) The more similar retail environment of diffusing center with that of the vicinity of the contiguous market is, the larger spatial effect of diffusing center on diffusion of the vicinity of the contiguous market is. To examine above two questions, we adopt the Bass model to estimate diffusion of discount store first. Next spatial diffusion model where spatial factor is added to the Bass model is used to estimate it. Finally by comparing Bass model with spatial diffusion model, we try to find out which model describes diffusion of discount store better. In addition, we investigate the relationship between similarity of retail environment(conceptual distance) and spatial factor impact with correlation analysis. Result and Implication: We suggest spatial diffusion model to describe diffusion of discount stores. To examine the proposed spatial diffusion model, 347 domestic discount stores are used and we divide nation into 5 districts, Seoul-Gyeongin(SG), Busan-Gyeongnam(BG), Daegu-Gyeongbuk(DG), Gwan- gju-Jeonla(GJ), Daejeon-Chungcheong(DC), and the result is shown
. In a result of the Bass model(I), the estimates of innovation coefficient(p) and imitation coefficient(q) are 0.017 and 0.323 respectively. While the estimate of market potential is 384. A result of the Bass model(II) for each district shows the estimates of innovation coefficient(p) in SG is 0.019 and the lowest among 5 areas. This is because SG is the diffusion center. The estimates of imitation coefficient(q) in BG is 0.353 and the highest. The imitation coefficient in the vicinity of the diffusing center such as BG is higher than that in the diffusing center because much information flows through various paths more as diffusion is progressing. A result of the Bass model(II) shows the estimates of innovation coefficient(p) in SG is 0.019 and the lowest among 5 areas. This is because SG is the diffusion center. The estimates of imitation coefficient(q) in BG is 0.353 and the highest. The imitation coefficient in the vicinity of the diffusing center such as BG is higher than that in the diffusing center because much information flows through various paths more as diffusion is progressing. In a result of spatial diffusion model(IV), we can notice the changes between coefficients of the bass model and those of the spatial diffusion model. Except for GJ, the estimates of innovation and imitation coefficients in Model IV are lower than those in Model II. The changes of innovation and imitation coefficients are reflected to spatial coefficient(${\gamma}$). From spatial coefficient(${\gamma}$) we can infer that when the diffusion in the vicinity of the diffusing center occurs, the diffusion is influenced by one in the diffusing center. The difference between the Bass model(II) and the spatial diffusion model(IV) is statistically significant with the ${\chi}^2$-distributed likelihood ratio statistic is 16.598(p=0.0023). Which implies that the spatial diffusion model is more effective than the Bass model to describe diffusion of discount stores. So the research question (1) is supported. In addition, we found that there are statistically significant relationship between similarity of retail environment and spatial effect by using correlation analysis. So the research question (2) is also supported.
Purpose - In case of automobile parts, there has been a lot of progress in the study on supplier development plans and SCM in industrial progress study as well as on the relationship between ERP and SCM. But supplier development program providers have researched on SCM performance in accordance with the interests of the supplier development program most, thus, buyers were knowledgeable about the earlier program performance. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to prove correlation factor, supplier factor, purchaser factor affecting SCM performance and ERP activating diffusion through the process of supplier development. Supplier development maturity formation model is considered important variables as mediators related to the procedure. Finally, the performance formation model of the supplier development maturity through supplier development factor would be presented as the outcome of this study. Research design, data, and methodology - Data gathering was as follows: questionnaires were delivered to 87 companies that have business connection with H Company. The empirical research to test our hypothesis was grounded on statistical analysis (adapting SPSS 19.0 & AMOS 19.0). The hypothesis is that the supplier development factor variables consist of correlation factor, supplier factor, purchaser factor, and have non-negative effects on the next variables: mediators such as supplier development maturity; and the supplier development maturity variables have a positive effect on the next variables: ERP activating diffusion, ERP activating diffusion has a non-negative effect on supply chain performance. Finally, ERP activating diffusion has significant impacts on SCM performance. This study makes a meaningful contribution to further appreciation on how supplier development maturity formation affects SCM performance. This study shows implications. First, there would not have been dealt with introducing the concept of supplier development maturity. Second, through empirical analysis and provider factors, the providers will develop the maturity that affect interactive factors between purchaser and supplier.
