  • Aging is characterized by an age-dependent reduction in bone density. Pronounced bone loss by postmenopausal estrogen deficiency induces a bad effect on dynamic balance of bone metabolism. When the bone density is reduced to the level below the fracture threshold, the risk for fracture is greatly increased. The purpose of this study is to examine what are the effects of the Guisinhwan(GSH : 歸腎丸) on the ovariectomized rat model of postmenopausal osteoporosis. The results of the experiment are as follows: Body weight in control group showed significant increase in comparison with sham, but that in GSH-treated showed no change in comparison with control. The level of serum albumin in control group showed significant decrease in comparison with sham. That in GSH-treated was slightly decreased in comparison with control. The level of serum ALP activity in control group showed significant increase in comparison with sham, but that in GSH-treated was significantly decreased in comparison with control. The level of serum phosphorous, calcium, GOT, GPT, T3 did not significant change among the three groups. The level of serum estrogen in control group showed slightly decreased in comparison with sham, but that in GSH-treated showed no change in comparison with control. The level of serum T4 in control group showed significant increase in comparison with sham, but that in GSH-treated was significantly decreased in comparison with control. Trabecular bone area as well as trabecular thickness in control group showed significant decrease In comparison with sham. Those in GSH-treated showed significant increase in comparison with control. Trabecular number did not significant change among the three groups. Trabecular separation only in GSH-treated showed significant decrease in comparison with control. • In order to overcome the limitations of the rule-based intrusion detection system due to changes in Internet computing environments, the emergence of new services, and creativity of attackers, network anomaly detection (NAD) using machine learning and deep learning technologies has received much attention. Most of these existing machine learning and deep learning technologies for NAD use supervised learning methods to learn a set of training data set labeled 'normal' and 'attack'. This paper presents the feasibility of the unsupervised learning AutoEncoder(AE) to NAD from data sets collecting of secured network traffic without labeled responses. To verify the performance of the proposed AE mode, we present the experimental results in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, f1-score, and ROC AUC value on the NSL-KDD training and test data sets. In particular, we model a reference AE through the deep analysis of diverse AEs varying hyper-parameters such as the number of layers as well as considering the regularization and denoising effects. The reference model shows the f1-scores 90.4% and 89% of binary classification on the KDDTest+ and KDDTest-21 test data sets based on the threshold of the 82-th percentile of the AE reconstruction error of the training data set.

  • Building a firebreak against surface forest fire is a typical indirect suppression method that stops spread of flame by removing surface fuel, such as fallen leaves and bushes. In the sense of fire dynamic, building a firebreak is to set a section which will block thermal energy from igniting on virgin fuel. This study suggests and evaluates a calculation method for width of firebreak against surface fire for variant wind and slope conditions by applying the Point Source Model (PSM) to fallen leaves of Pinus densiflora. Width of firebreak was measured based on the distance the threshold radiant heat igniting Pinus densiflora fallen leaves at the heat flux of $4.9\;kW/m^2$ reaches. As a result, at the wind velocity of 0~5 m/s and on the slope of $0{\sim}50^{\circ}$, the appropriate width of a firebreak was 0.35~0.65 m for the mean flame height and 0.75~1.05 m for the maximum flame height. Accordingly, considering the factor of safety, the most appropriate width of a firebreak is 1.05 m based on the maximum flame height. Additional comparative analyses through experiments and field surveys are deemed necessary to determine appropriate widths of firebreak for different types of surface fuel.

  • Since there is no consensus about the most reliable assays to detect invasive aspergillosis from samples obtained by minimally invasive or noninvasive methods, we compared the efficacy of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for galactomannan (GM) detection and quantitative real-time PCR assay (qRT-PCR) for the diagnosis of invasive pulmonary aspergillosis. Neutropenic, male Sprague-Dawley rats (specific pathogen free; 8 weeks old; weight, $200{\pm}20g$) were immunosuppressed with cyclophosphamide and infected with Aspergillus fumigatus intratracheally. Tissue and whole blood samples were harvested on days 1, 3, 5, and 7 post-infection and examined with GM ELISA and qRT-PCR. The A. fumigatus DNA detection sequence was detected in the following number of samples from 12 immunosuppressed, infected rats examined on the scheduled days: day 1 (0/12), day 3 (0/12), day 5 (6/12), and day 7 (8/12) post-infection. The sensitivity and specificity of the qRT-PCR assay was 29.2% and 100%, respectively. Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis indicated a Ct (cycle threshold) cut-off value of 15.35, and the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.627. The GM assay detected antigen in sera obtained on day 1 (5/12), day 3 (9/12), day 5 (12/12), and day 7 (12/12) post-infection, and thus had a sensitivity of 79.2% and a specificity of 100%. The ROC of the GM assay indicated that the optimal Ct cut-off value was 1.40 (AUC, 0.919). The GM assay was more sensitive than the qRT-PCR assay in diagnosing invasive pulmonary aspergillosis in rats.

  • The object-oriented design methods and their CASE tools are widely used in practice by many real-time software developers. However, object-oriented CASE tools require an additional step of identifying tasks from a given design model. Unfortunately, it is difficult to automate this step for a couple of reasons: (1) there are inherent discrepancies between objects and tasks; and (2) it is hard to derive tasks while maximizing real-time schedulability since this problem makes a non-trivial optimization problem. As a result, in practical object-oriented CASE tools, task identification is usually performed in an ad-hoc manner using hints provided by human designers. In this paper, we present a systematic, schedulability-aware approach that can help mapping real-time object-oriented models to multi-threaded implementations. In our approach, a task contains a group of mutually exclusive transactions that may possess different periods and deadline. For this new task model, we provide a new schedulability analysis algorithm. We also show how the run-time system is implemented and how executable code is generated in our frame work. We have performed a case study. It shows the difficulty of task derivation problem and the utility of the automated synthesis of implementations as well as the Inappropriateness of the single-threaded implementations.

  • An on-line registration technique is presented to register multi-view range images for the 3D reconstruction of real objects. Using a range camera, we first acquire range images and photometric images continuously. In the range images, we divide object and background regions using a predefined threshold value. For the coarse registration of the range images, the centroid of the images are used. After refining the registration of range images using a projection-based technique, we use a modified KLT(Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi) tracker to match photometric features in the object images. Using the modified KLT tracker, we can track image features fast and accurately. If a range image fails to register, we acquire new range images and try to register them continuously until the registration process resumes. After enough range images are registered, they are integrated into a 3D model in offline step. Experimental results and error analysis show that the proposed method can be used to reconstruct 3D model very fast and accurately.

  • Thermal spatial representativities of meteorological stations over Korea have been investigated using land surface temperature (LST) based on MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) satellite observation. The linear regression method was used to estimate air temperatures from MODIS LST product. To compare MODIS LST with observed air temperatures at six meteorological stations, the mean values of MODIS LST with nine given window sizes were calculated. In this case, the position of centered pixel in each given window size is correspond to that of each meteorological station. We also applied $4^{\circ}C$ threshold for RMSE comparison, which is based on a analogous study on daily maximum air temperature model using satellite data. In this study, the results showed that each station has a different representativity; Deajeon $15km{\times}15km$, Chuncheon $11km{\times}11km$, Seoul $7km{\times}7km$, Deagu $5km{\times}5km$, Kwangju $3km{\times}3km$, and Busan $3km{\times}3km$.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method to extract palm lines and read it with simple techniques from one photo. We use morphological information and 8-directional contour tracking algorithm. From the digitalized image, we transform original RGB information to YCbCr color model which is less sensitive to the brightness information. The palm region is extracted by simple threshold as Y:65~255, Cb:25~255, Cr:130~255 of skin color. Noise removal process is then followed with morphological information of the palm such that the palm area has more than quarter of the pixels and the rate of width vs height is more than 2:1 and 8-directional contour tracking algorithm. Then, the stretching algorithm and Sobel mask are applied to extract edges. Another morphological information that the meaningful edges(palm lines) have between 10 and 20 pixels is used to exclude noise edges and boundary lines of the hand from block binarized image. Main palm lines are extracted then by labeling method. This algorithm is quite effective even reading the palm from a photographed by a mobile phone, which suggests that this method could be used in various applications.

  • The development of Myzus persicae (Sulzer) was studied at temperatures ranging from 15 to $32.5^{\circ}C$ under $70{\pm}5\%$ RH, and a photoperiod of 16:8 (L:D). Mortality of 1st-2nd nymph was higher than that of 3rd-4th nymph at the most temperature ranges whereas at high temperature of $32.5^{\circ}C$, more 3-4nymph stage individuals died. The total developmental time ranged from 12.4 days at $15^{\circ}C$ to 4.9 days at $27.5^{\circ}C$, suggesting that higher the temperature, faster the development. However, at higher end temperature ranges of 30 and $32.5^{\circ}C$, the development took 5.0 and 6.3 days, respectively. The lower developmental threshold temperature and effective accumulative temperatures for the total immature stage were $4.9^{\circ}C$ and 116.5 day-degrees. The nonlinear shape of temperature related development was well described by the modified Sharpe and DeMichele model. When the normalized cumulative frequency distributions of developmental times for each life stage were fitted to the three-parameter Weibull function, attendance of shortened developmental times was apparent with pre-nymph, post-nymph, and total nymph stages in descending order. The coefficient of determination $r^2$ ranged between 0.87 and 0.94.
