  • If the Industrial Revolution had been the first industrial revolution. our 21st century will witness a second industrial Revolution. Namely. we will attest to a revolution whereby we will be freed from brain work by automation systems. computers and artificial intelligence. The technological revolution of the Information society has also resulted in various changes in the area of design. Designers almost depend on the newest computers of advanced functions to drastically reduce the production time. maximize the effects. save the cost and differentiate the design products for a stronger competitiveness. Accordingly. the media of design expression are changing. In short. the design works which had been done on the plane are now being expressed on the three-dimensional cyber space. Thus, this study alms to review the effects. positive and negative. of such a trend on the design.

  • Recently, the manufacturers of life-jacket are very interested in the acquisition of USCG(US Coast Guard) approval because the acquisition of USCG approval has an important role in the purchasing decision of the buyer's. Be based on criterion of USCG, we studied how to predict the change of floating position of human model with life-jacket to verify the backside restore. For this, in this study, the human model and the lifejacket was modeled in three dimension, the application program for prediction of floating position was developed, and plugged-in commercial program.

  • This paper presents an analytical study on the displacement behavior safety of cylindrical hollow rollers. Using the finite element method, the hollow roller with Y-shaped column structures between three tubes has been developed to analyze the displacement behavior safety. For the same dimension and weight of two hollow roller models, the displacement behavior safety of a typical hollow roller is lower 4~6.6% than that of the newly designed hollow roller with Y-shaped column structures between three tubes. Thus, this paper recommends Y-shaped hollow roller for increasing the roller strength safety and decreasing a total roller weight, which may save a consuming electrical energy.

  • High-speed electronic digital computers have enabled engineers to employ various numerical discretization techniques for solutions of complex problems. The Finite Element Method is one of the such technique. The Finite Element Method is one of the numerical analysis based on the concepts of fundamental mathematical approximation. Three dimensional plate structures used often in partition of ship, box girder and frame are analyzed by Finite Element Method. In design of structures, the static deflections, stress concentrations and dynamic deflections must be considered. However, these problem belong to geometrically nonlinear mechanical structure analysis. The analysis of each element is independent, but coupling occurs in assembly process of elements. So, to overcome such a difficulty the shell theory which includes transformation matrix and a fictitious rotational stiffness is taken into account. Also, the Mindlin's theory which is considered the effect of shear deformation is used. The Mindlin's theory is based on assumption that the normal to the midsurface before deformation is "not necessarily normal to the midsurface after deformation", and is more powerful than Kirchoff's theory in thick plate analysis. To ensure that a small number of element can represent a relatively complex form of the type which is liable to occur in real, rather than in academic problem, eight-node quadratic isoparametric elements are used. are used.

  • This study was performed to measure the various dimensions of the hand for Korean adults. Three hundred and eighteen males and two hundred and sixty females, age ranged 18 to 60, participated in this study. Thirty-five dimensions were selected to measure. Subjects were divided into three age groups, 18 to 29, 30 to 39, and 40 to 60, for each sex. The data were analyzed to see the differences between the age groups and sex by using SAS program. The results showed that the measurements related to breadth and thickness tended to increase as the age increased. Wrist breadth, index finger breadth(distal), index finger breadth(proximal), thumb breadth, and index finger thickness(proximal) increased as the age increased for both males and females (p<0.05). However, the measurements related to length tended to increase as the age decreased. The relationship between the parts that are length related showed high correlation. Hand length showed high correlation with palm length, middle finger length and index finger length. Males' were significantly greater than females' in every dimension (p<0.05). Also, the results of this study were compared with the data of Japanese and U.S. army. The results of this study can be used to design the hand related products.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric property of the Children's Behavior Questionnaire(CBQ), including reliability, content validity, construct validity, cross validity, and concurrent validity with EAS(Emotionality, Activity, Sociability) scale. The CBQ is a caregiver report measure designed to provide a detailed assessment of temperament in children 3 to 7 years of age. In this study, two groups of participants were included to check cross validity. The first group of participants were 108 preschoolers, 3 to 7 years of age attending kindergartens or child care centers, and their mothers. The second group of participants were 168 preschoolers and their mothers. The CBQ subscales demonstrate adequate internal consistencies. Also, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses of the CBQ scale reliably recover a three-factor solution indicating three broad dimension of temperament: extraversion/surgency, negative affectivity, and effortful control. Evidence for concurrent validity derives from results of correlation analysis with EAS scale.

  • In this paper, vibration analysis of functionally graded nanoshell is studied based on the sinusoidal higher-order shear and normal deformation theory to account thickness stretching effect. To account size-dependency, Eringen nonlocal elasticity theory is used. For more accurate modeling the problem and corresponding numerical results, sinusoidal higher-order shear and normal deformation theory including out of plane normal strain is employed in this paper. The radial displacement is decomposed into three terms to show variation along the thickness direction. Governing differential equations of motion are derived using Hamilton's principle. It is assumed that the cylindrical shell is made of an arbitrary composition of metal and ceramic in which the local material properties are measured based on power law distribution. To justify trueness and necessity of this work, a comprehensive comparison with some lower order and lower dimension works and also some 3D works is presented. After presentation of comparative study, full numerical results are presented in terms of significant parameters of the problem such as small scale parameter, length to radius ratio, thickness to radius ratio, and number of modes.

  • This paper aims to provide an overview of customer trust toward Islamic banks, and to study the effect of trust on the selection of Islamic banks services. A total 375 questionnaires were distributed to the three groups of bank customers, i.e. Islamic banks customers, conventional banks customers, and customers of both banks (125 respondents in each group). Trust is measured based on three constructs, namely Ability, Integrity, and Benevolence. To test the hypothesis this study employs Analysis of Variance and Tukey Test. The results show that bank customers have degree of trust towards Islamic banks relatively high enough, although among the respondents had never become customers of Islamic banks. Benevolence as the dimension with the lowest average score revealed the Islamic banks are more believed as a competent and honest bank in carrying out the business than the bank that will work for the benefit of customers. Other findings suggest that degree of trust have significant affects on the decision for using the Islamic banks services. The positive values that embedded in the concepts and systems of the Islamic is the key to improving the competitiveness of Islamic banks.

  • In this paper, we investigated the composite covariance structure models for repeated measures data with multiple repeat factors. When the number of repeat factors is more than three, it is infeasible to fit the composite covariance models using the existing statistical packages. In order to fit the composite covariance structure models to real data, we proposed two approaches: the dimension reduction approach for repeat factors and the random effect model approximation approach. Our proposed approaches were illustrated by using the blood pressure data with three repeat factors obtained from 883 subjects.

  • Three dimensional(3D) Poisson's equation is used to calculate the potential variation for FinFET in the channel to analyze subthreshold current and short channel effect(SCE). The analytical model has been presented to lessen calculating time and understand the relationship of parameters. The accuracy of this model has been verified by the data from 3D numerical device simulator and variation for dimension parameters has been explained. The model has been developed to obtain channel potential of FinFET according to channel doping and to calculate subthreshold current and threshold voltage.
