유한요소해석에 의한 Knuckle의 최적형상설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Shape Optimization Design of the Knuckle by the Finite Element Analysis)

  • The automotive industry faces many competitive challenges including weight and cost reduction to meet need for higher fuel economy. It is a trend that a lot of parts have been currently changed to an aluminum alloy from steel materials. It is required more precise analysis for practical load because of complexities and varieties of vehicle structure. In this study, the shape optimization using a FEA is performed to determine the design of the knuckle. The size optimization is carried out to find thickness while the stiffness constraints are satisfied. A commercial optimization software MSC/NASTRAN is utilized for the structural analysis and the optimization processes.

압전 수정진동자의 밀도법 기반 위상 최적설계 (Density-based Topology Design Optimization of Piezoelectric Crystal Resonators)

  • 본 논문에서는 압전 수정진동자의 설계민감도 해석 및 위상 최적설계 기법을 개발하였다. 압전 수정진동자는 가해지는 전하에 의해 두께방향 전단 변형하게 되거나, 혹은 그 반대방향으로 기계 변형에 의해 전기적 신호를 검출하게 된다. 엄밀한 두께방향 전단해석을 위해 두께방향으로 고차 보간을 하는 고차 민들린(Mindlin) 판 이론을 도입하였다. 압전 수정진동자에서 수정판은 부도체이기 때문에 전기적 신호를 검출하거나 전기적 신호에 의해 수정판을 기계적으로 진동시키기 위해 수정판의 상/하 표면에 얇은 전극경을 도포한다. 비록 전극경이 매우 얇기는 하지만 그 무게와 형상에 따라 진동자의 거동이 달라지기 때문에, 설계민감도 해석 및 위상 최적설계를 위한 설계변수는 전극경의 질량 밀도와 관계된다. 따라서 위상 최적설계 문제는 두께방향 전단 변형에너지를 최대화하는 최적의 전극경 분포를 구하도록 구성한다. 또한 보다 의미있는 설계안을 얻기 위해 전극경의 재료량과 면적에 제약조건을 부여한다. 두께방향 전단 주파수(고유치)와 상응하는 모드형상(고유벡터)에 대한 설계구배는 고유벡터 확장법을 이용한 해석적 설계민감도 해석법을 통해 매우 효율적이고 정확하게 계산될 수 있다. 수치예제를 통해 제안된 해석적 설계민감도가 유한차분 설계민감도와 비교하여 매우 효율적이고 정확하게 계산됨을 확인하였다. 또한 위상 최적설계를 통해 도출된 최적 전극경 설계가 모드형상과 두께방향 전단 변형에너지를 개선시킴을 확인하였다.

사출압력 최소화와 웰드라인 방지를 위한 자동차용 사출성형 부품의 최적설계 (Design Optimization of an Automotive Injection Molded Part for Minimizing Injection Pressure and Preventing Weldlines)

  • Injection pressure is an important factor in filling procedure for injection molded parts. In addition, weldlines should be avoided to successfully produce injection molded parts. In this study, we optimally obtained injection molding process parameters that minimize injection pressure. Then, we determined the thickness of the part to avoid weldlines. To solve the optimization problem proposed, we employed MAPS-3D (Mold Analysis and Plastics Solution-3 Dimension), a commercial CAE tool for injection molding analysis, and PIAnO (Process Integration, Automation, and Optimization) as a commercial PIDO (Process Integration and Design Optimization) tool. We integrated MAPS-3D into PIAnO, automated the analysis and design procedure, and performed optimization by employing PQRSM (Progressive Quadratic Response Surface Method) equipped in PIAnO. We successfully obtained optimization results, which demonstrates the effectiveness of our design method.

Individual and Global Optimization of Switched Flux Permanent Magnet Motors

  • With the aid of genetic algorithm (GA), global optimization with multiple geometry parameters is feasible in the design of switched flux permanent magnet (SFPM) machines. To investigate the advantages of global optimization over individual optimization, which has been used extensively for the design of SFPM machines, a comparison between the two approaches is carried out for the case of fixed copper loss and volume. In the case of individual parameter optimization, the sequence in which the individual parameters are optimized is very important. In the global optimization a better design can always be achieved although the corresponding torque density is found to be only slightly better than that of individually optimized with correct design sequence. By using the obtained global optimization results, the performance in machines having two types of stator and rotor pole combinations, i.e. 12/10 and 12/14, are compared, and it is shown that higher torque is exhibited in the 12/14 SFPM machine. Finally, this paper also demonstrates that global optimization, with the restriction of equal pole width, magnet thickness and slot opening, can maximize the torque density without significantly sacrificing other performance, such as cogging torque and overload capability.

SQP법을 사용한 복합재 조류력 발전용 블레이드의 스파 캡에 대한 두께 최적화 (Thickness Optimization for Spar Cap of Composite Tidal Current Turbine Blade using SQP Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 유리강화섬유폴리머(GFRP)와 탄소강화섬유폴리머(CFRP)로 적층된 조류력 블레이드의 스파 캡(Spar cap)을 대상으로 끝단 처짐의 제한에 따른 단방향(UD) GFRP의 적층 두께를 최적화 하였다. 또한 도출된 적층 두께에 따른 블레이드 내부의 응력의 변화와 블레이드의 재료비용을 확인하였다. 비선형 최적화에 뛰어난 순차 이차방정식 프로그래밍(SQP) 알고리즘을 사용하였고, 목적함수를 계산하기 위하여 상용 유한요소해석 프로그램인 Abaqus/Standard와 연계하였다. UD CFRP의 적층 두께가 9 mm로 제한된 경우, 끝단 처짐이 감소함에 따라 UD GFRP의 적층 두께가 증가하였다. 즉, 최적화된 스파 캡의 무게는 최대 96.2% 증가였으며 최대 인장응력은 최대 24.6% 감소하였다. 끝단 처짐이 126.83 mm로 제한된 경우, UD CFRP의 적층 두께가 줄어듦에 따라 UD GFRP의 적층 두께가 증가하였다. 이로 인하여 무게는 최대 40.1% 증가하였지만 재료비용은 최대 16.97% 감소하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 블레이드 스파 캡의 최적화된 두께를 바탕으로 조류력 블레이드의 무게, 내부의 최대 응력과 재료비용의 상관관계를 제시하였다.

가변 샌드위치 구조물의 형상최적설계 (Shape Optimal Design of Variable Sandwich Structure)

  • Geneal Structure optimization is utilized to minimize the weight of structures while satisfying constraints imposed on stress, displacements and natural frequencies, etc. Sandwich structures consist of inside core and outside face sheets. The selected sandwich structures are isotropic sandwich beams and isotropic sandwich plate. The face sheets are treated as membrane and assumed to carry only tensions, while the core is assumed to carry only transverse shear. The characteristic of the varying area are considered by adding the projected component of the tension to the transverse shear. The bending theory and energy method are adopted for analyzing sandwich beams and plates, respectively. In the optimization process, the cost function is the weight of a structure, and a deflection and stress constraints are considered. Design variable are thickness and tapering coefficients which determine the shape of a structure. An existing optimization code is used for solving the formulated problems.

정적충돌성능을 고려한 자동차 옆문 충격빔의 최적설계 (Optimization of the Automotive Side Door Impact Beam Considering Static Requirement)

  • The door stiffness is one of the important factors for the side impact. Generally, the researches have been conducted on the assembled door. A side impact door beam is installed in a door to protect occupants from the side impact. This research is only concentrated on the side impact beam and a side impact beam is designed. The cross section is defined to have an elliptic shape. An optimization problem is defined to find the design maximizing the intrusion stiffness within the specified weight. Design variables are the radii and the thickness of the ellipsoid. The analysis of the side impact is carried out by the nonlinear finite element method. The optimization problem is solved by two methods. One is the experimental design scheme using an orthogonal array. The other is the gradient-based optimization using the response surface method(RSM). Both methods have obtained the better designs than the current one.

Application of topology optimization to bridge girder design

  • This study deals with the design of bridge girder structures and consists of two parts. In the first part an optimal bridge girder topology is determined using a software based on structure compliance minimization with constraints imposed on the body mass, developed by the authors. In the second part, an original way in which the topology is mapped into a bridge girder structure is shown. Additionally, a method of converting the thickness of the bars obtained using the topology optimization procedure into cross sections is introduced. Moreover, stresses and material consumption for a girder design obtained through topology optimization and a typical truss girder are compared. Concluding, this paper shows that topology optimization is a good tool for obtaining optimal bridge girder designs.

가중평균대리모델을 사용한 천음속 압축기 블레이드 최적화 (Blade Optimization of a Transonic Compressor Using a Multiple Surrogate Model)

  • The main purpose of the present study is to perform shape optimizations of transonic compressor blade in order to enhance its performance. In this study, the Latin hypercube sampling of design of experiments and the weighted average surrogate model with the help of a gradient based optimization algorithm are used within design space by the lower and upper limits of each design variable and for finding optimum designs, respectively. 3-D Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes solver is used to evaluate the objective functions of adiabatic efficiency and pressure ratio. Six variables from lean and airfoil thickness profile are selected as design variables. The results show that the adiabatic efficiency is enhanced by 1.43% by efficiency optimization while the pressure ratio is increased very small, and pressure ratio is increased by 0.24% by pressure ratio optimization.

심해 유인 잠수정 구형 내압 선체의 구조 해석 (Structural Analysis for Spherical Pressure Hull of Deep Manned Submersible)

  • This paper presents the results of the structural analysis and the optimization of a 6,500 m manned submersible. Nonlinear structural analysis for imperfect spheres with the maximum allowable out-of-roundness(OOR) was performed to calculate the thickness of the pressure hull. Dimensions of viewports were determined according to ASME PVHO standard. The design optimization of the spherical hull with openings was divided into two steps - the optimization of the detailed shape of the viewport reinforcements and the optimization of the viewport location in the spherical pressure hull.
