상온 진공 분말 분사 공정을 이용한 다층 박막 소재의 제조 및 전기적 특성 (Fabrication and Characterization of Multi-layered Thick Films by Room Temperature Powder Spray in Vacuum Process)

  • Room temperature powder spray in vacuum process, so called Aerosol deposition (AD) is a room temperature (RT) process to fabricate thick and dense ceramic films, based on collision of solid ceramic particles. This technique can provide crack-free dense thin and thick films with thicknesses ranging from sub micrometer to several hundred micrometers with very fast deposition rates at RT. In addition, this technique is using solid particles to form the ceramic films at RT, thus there is few limitation of the substrate and easy to control the compositions of the films. In this article, we review the progress made in synthesis of piezoelectric thin/thick films, multi-layer structures, NTC thermistor thin/thick films, oxide electrode thin films for actuators or sensor applications by AD at Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS) during the last 4 years.

스크린 프린팅으로 제작된 $Pb(Zr,\;Ti)O_3$ 후막의 제작과 전기적 특성 (Preparation and Electrical Properties of Lead Zirconate Titanate Thick Films Fabricated by Screen-Printing Method)

  • PZT(80/0) powder was prepared by a sol-gel method and PZT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing method on the alumina substrates. The coating and drying procedure was repeated 4 times. And then the PZT(20/80) precusor solution was spin-coated on the PZT thick films. A concentration of a coating solution was 0.5mol/L and the number of coating was varied from 0 to 6. The porosity decreased and the grain size increased with increasing the number of coatings. The thickness of the PZT-6(6: number of coatings) films was about $60{\mu}m$. The relative dielectric constant increased and the dielectric loss decreased with increasing the number of PZT(20/80) sol coatings. The relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the PZT-6 thick film were 275 and 3.5%, respectively. The remanent polarization, coercive field and breakdown strength of the PZT-6 film were $19.8{\mu}C/cm^2$, 13.7kV/cm and 130kV/cm, respectively.

Flexible Thermoelectric Device Using Thick Films for Energy Harvesting from the Human Body

  • A flexible thermoelectric device using body heat has drawn attention as a power source for wearable devices. In this study, thermoelectric thick films were fabricated by cold pressing method using p-type antimony telluride and n-type bismuth telluride powders in accordance with specific loads. Thermoelectric thick films were denser and improved the electrical and thermoelectric properties while increasing the load of the cold pressing. The thickness of the specimen can be controlled by the amount of material; specimens were approximately 700 um in thickness. Flexible thermoelectric devices were manufactured by using the thermoelectric thick films on PI (Polyimide) substrate. The process is cheap, efficient, easy and scalable. Evaluation of power generation performance and flexibility on the fabricated flexible thermoelectric device was carried out. The flexible thermoelectric device has great flexibility and good performance and can be applied to wearable electronics as a power source.

Carbon fiber 후막형 열전센서 소자를 이용한 적외선 체열진단 (The Method of Thermograph using Thermoelectric Sensor Device in the Carbon fiber Thick Films)

  • Thick films of Carbon fiber were prepared by a heating element of plan shape made in Darin co.. We have investigated surface morphology of the specimen depending on second heat-treatment temperatures. X-ray diffraction patterns of Carbon fiber thick films show that the specimen heat treated below $600^{\circ}C$ was an amorphous phase and the one heat treated above $1100^{\circ}C$ forms a poly-crystallization. Scanning electron microscope(SEM) image of Carbon fiber thick films of the specimen heat treated in between 900 and $1100^{\circ}C$ shows a grain growth. At $1100^{\circ}C$, the specimen stops grain-growing and becomes a poly-crystallization.

  • Using the $(Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}){TiO_3}$(BST) powders prepared by the Sol-Gel method, the EST thick films were fabricated on the ${Al_2}{O_3}$ substrates coated with Pt by the screen printing method. Compared with pure EST thick films, the structural and dielectric properties of the EST thick films doped with 1${\sim}$10 wt % MgO were investigated. It was observed that the Mg substitution into EST causes a shift in the cubic-tetragonal EST phase transition peak to a lower temperature. The microstructure of the EST substituted with Mg was homogeneous and dense. Mg substitution into EST had a significant effect on the grain size reduction. Dielectric constant was decreased with increasing the MgO content and temperature. In the case of EST thick films doped with 1 wt% MgO, the relative permittivity and dielectric loss were 158] and 1.4 % at 1 MHz.

용융법에 의한 Bi계 Thick Film 합성 (A Study on the Fabrication of Bi System Thick Film Using Melting Process)

  • BiSrCaCuO films were prepared on MgO single substerate at $885^{\circ}C$ by melt process. The films showed superconductivity above liquid nitrogen temperature (Tc= 96K). To investigate the effect of a melting temperature on the forming of the surface texturing, the samples were prepared under various temperature. The used powder was of high Tc phase. It is implies that the origin of the properties due to the heat treatment.

  • The $ZnGa_2O_4$ phosphor thick films were fabricated using a screen printing method on Si(100) substrates at various sintering temperatures. The XRD patterns show that the $ZnGa_2O_4$ thick films have a (311) main peak and a spinel structure with increasing sintering temperatures. The particle sizes of $ZnGa_2O_4$ phosphor were about 100 nm and the thickness of $ZnGa_2O_4$ thick film was $10{\mu}m$. The CL and PL properties of $ZnGa_2O_4$ showed main peak of 420nm and maximum intensity at the sintering temperature of $900^{\circ}C$. These results indicate that $ZnGa_2O_4$ phosphor thick films hold promise for displays such as plasma display panel and field emission display.

  • ZnO thick films by Sol-Gel processing were investigated electrics, optics and the sensing characteristics of CO gas. Using the znic acetate dihydrate and acetylaceton (AcAc) as a chelating agent, stable ZnO sol was synthesized. ZnO phase was crystallized through the heat-treatment at $70^{\circ}C$ for 4hrs and influenced the sensing characteristics of the electrics and CO gas by uniform particle distributions not related particle size. The samples on the alumina substrate by thick films were investigated the properties of electrics and the effect of sensing. The sensitivity was so excellent in the sample of the heat-treatment at $600^{\circ}C$ for 12hrs and good in the heat-treatment for 1hrs generally. Crystallization and volatilization of organic materials according to the change of heating treatment temperature of thick films were analyzed by TG-DTA, XRD and mirostructure of thick films were observed by SEM.

  • 회전검광자 방식의 타원계 구조에 기초하여 두꺼운 막들 내부에서 일어나는 다중반사에 인한 빛의 세기를 결맞지 않도록 중첩함으로써 결맞음길이보다 두꺼운 막 두 개가 다층박막시료 위에 있을 때 적용되는 타원상수 표현들을 유도하였다. 유도된 표현들을 커버유리와 공기층 아래에 있는 산화규소 박막이 코팅되어 있는 시료의 타원법 분석에 적용하여 그 유용성을 확인하였다.

  • In this experiment, A1$_2$O$_3$ thick films were prepared by electrophoretic method using A1$_2$O$_3$ fine Powder of which composition were FA-5-500 and FA-5-900. The growth behavior of A1$_2$O$_3$ thick films were characterized as preparation conditions, such as applied voltage, deposition time and adding conditions. As a result, A1$_2$O$_3$ thick films were successfully fabricated by electrophoretic method on molybdnum plate in which etanol and distilled used were used as a solvent. Deposition conditions for good uniformity of the A1$_2$O$_3$ thick films were applied voltage of 60volts, deposition time of 2 seconds, heat treatment at 1$700^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes.
