This study is object to structural analysis comparison of continuous casting mold. A two-dimensional finite element model was developed to compute the temperature distribution, thermal stress and thermal strain behavior for continuous casting mold. For structural analysis using thermal analysis result from ANSYS. In other to structural analysis of continuous casting mold, many variables such as casting speed, cooling condition, film coefficient, convection and load condition are considered.
Volume shrinkage behavior accompanying the cure of resin formulations might be a critical factor when assembly processes using polymer materials are considered. In this study, cure shrinkage behavior with respect to resin formulation type and heating method was measured on sandwich structure samples by a thermomechanical analyzer (TMA). Quartz, used as a cover material for the sandwich structure, indicated the coefficient of thermal expansion close to $0ppm/^{\circ}C$. When a dynamic heating mode was conducted, a squeeze-out region and a cross-linking region for each resin formulation could be separated clearly with overlapping differential scanning calorimeter results on the TMA results. In addition, a cure shrinkage dominant region and a thermal expansion dominant region in the cross-linking region were distinguished. Consequently, the degree of cure at the initiation of the thermal expansion dominant region was successfully measured. Measurement of all resin formulations indicated the thermal expansion behavior exceeded cure shrinkage before full cure.

In this study, we have applied principal component analysis-based 2D (PCA2D) correlation spectroscopy to the temperature-dependent IR spectra of biodegradable poly(hydroxyalkanoate). PCA2D analysis reveals clearly that there are two components in crystalline band of C=O stretching mode without being hampered by noise. To better understand the thermal behavior of biodegradable poly(hydroxyalkanoate), eigenvalue manipulating transformation (EMT) technique was also employed. By uniformly lowering the power of a set of eigenvalues associated with the original data, the subtle contributions from minor eigenvectors are highlighted. Details of thermal behavior of biodegradable poly(hydroxyalkanoate) studied by PCA2D correlation spectroscopy with EMT will be discussed.

Each type of optical sheets in a LCD module experiences a characteristic behavior for thermal loading and unloading. During thermal cycling, a polymeric behavior is reversible and recyclable, depending on a material stiffness critically affected by temperature and time. Some critical issues on temperature- and time-dependent themomechanical deformation of the polymeric sheet are addressed by finite-element thermal results, followed by structural simulation results in this study.
The single fiber pull-out technique has been commonly used to characterize the mechanical behavior of fiber/matrix interface in fiber reinforced composite materials. In this study, an improved analysis considering the effect of thermal residual stresses in both radial and axial directions is developed for the single fiber pull-out test. It is found to have the pronounced effects on the stress transfer properties across the interface and the interfacial debonding behavior.
It is important to understand the characteristics of material strength and fracture under the dynamic loading like as earthquakes to assure the integrity of welded structures. The characteristics of dynamic strength and fracture in structural steels and their welded joints should be evaluated based on the effects of the strain rate and the service temperature. It is difficult to predict or measure temperature rise history with the corresponding stress-strain behavior. In particular, material behaviors beyond the uniform elongation can not be precisely evaluated, though the behavior at large strain region after the maximum loading point is much important for the evaluation of fracture. In this paper, the coupling phenomena of temperature and stress-strain fields under the dynamic loading was simulated by using the finite element method. The modified rate-temperature parameter was defined by accounting for the effect of temperature rise under the dynamic deformation, and it was applied to the fully-coupled analysis between heat conduction and thermal elastic-plastic behavior. Temperature rise and stress-strain behavior including complicated phenomena were studies after the maximum loading point in structural steels and their undermatched joints and compared with the measured values.
In this paper, the thermal post-buckling behavior of graphene platelets reinforced metal foams (GPLRMFs) plate with initial geometric imperfections on nonlinear elastic foundations are studied. First, the governing equation is derived based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) of plate. To obtain a single equation that only contains deflection, the Galerkin principle is employed to solve the governing equation. Subsequently, a comparative analysis was conducted with existing literature, thereby verifying the correctness and reliability of this paper. Finally, considering three GPLs distribution types (GPL-A, GPL-B, and GPL-C) of plates, the effects of initial geometric imperfections, foam distribution types, foam coefficients, GPLs weight fraction, temperature changes, and elastic foundation stiffness on the thermal post-buckling characteristics of the plates were investigated. The results show that the GPL-A distribution pattern exhibits the best buckling resistance. And with the foam coefficient (GPLs weight fraction, elastic foundation stiffness) increases, the deflection change of the plate under thermal load becomes smaller. On the contrary, when the initial geometric imperfection (temperature change) increases, the thermal buckling deflection increases. According to the current research situation, the results of this article can play an important role in the thermal stability analysis of GPLRMFs plates.
This paper presents the characteristic analysis of thermal behavior of a single-phase line-start permanent magnet motor(LSPM) for high-efficiency design. By analyzing of thermal behavior, it can consider demagnetization characteristics of permanent magnets. In addition, by calculating the allowable current density it will be able to reduce the size of the stator. For this reason single-phase LSPM is necessary to examine the thermal analysis. Thermal analysis was performed using heat source mapping, and it is verified by finite element method.
Preliminary analysis of in-reactor thermal performance of three MOX fuel rods, which are going to be irradiated in the Halden reactor beginning in the first Quarter of the year 2000 under the framework of the OECD Halden Reactor Programme, have been conducted by using the computer code COSMOS to ensure their safe operation. Parametric studies have been carried out to investigate the effect of uncertainties on in-reactor behavior by considering the four kinds of uncertainties; thermal conductivity, linear power, manufacturing parameters, and model constants. The analysis shows that, in the case of annular MOX -1 fuel, calculation results for thermal performance vary widely depending on the selection of model constants for fission gas release (FGR). On the contrary, the thermal performance of solid MOX - 3 fuel does not depend on the choice of FGR constants to a large extent as MOX-I, because the fuel temperature is very high in the MOX-3 irrespective of the choice of FGR constants and hence the capacity of grain boundaries to retain gas atoms is not large enough to accommodate the number of gas atoms reaching the grain boundaries. It is planned that when the data on microstructure and thermal conductivity for each type of MOX fuel are available, new analysis will be made using these information. In addition, FGR model constants will be derived from the measured fuel centerline temperature, rod internal pressure and other related data.
This paper describes a 2D nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA) platform that combines heat flow analysis with realistic analysis of cracked reinforced concrete structures. The behavior models included in the structural analysis are mainly based on the Modified Compression Field Theory and the Distributed Stress Field Model. The heat flow analysis takes into account time-varying thermal loads and temperature-dependent material properties. The capability of 2D nonlinear transient thermal analysis is then implemented into a nonlinear finite element analysis program VecTor2(C) for 2D reinforced concrete membranes. Analyses of four numerical examples are performed using VecTor2, and results obtained indicate that the suggested nonlinear finite element analysis procedure is capable of modeling the complete response of a concrete structure to thermal and mechanical loads.
