  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to develop an assessment tool for measurement of children's functioning in the mental health service. We conducted a preliminary study to develop a sensitive and inclusive scale focused on the functional changes of children rather than just focusing on their symptoms or screening. Methods : The Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale and the Korean-Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL) were both administered to 134 parents of children with emotional or behavioral problems who participated in the Aizone program and also to 186 parents of elementary school children in the Seoul metropolitan area as a control group. SPSS version 12.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results : Most of the reliability coefficients were over 0.70 except those of the conduct behavior items, which showed relatively high internal consistency. The corrected item-total correlations ranged from .411 to 758, except those of conduct behavior items and special measure items. In a concurrent validity test with K-CBCL, the total behavior problem score of K-CBCL was highly correlated with the total score of the Child and Adolescent Functional Assesment Scale (r=.610). For the construct validity, confirmatory factor analysis was performed for each of four areas, including behavior (at home/school), achievement, peer relationship, and emotion. Conclusion : The results showed that the scale was statistically reliable and valid, except for conduct behavior items. This study was conducted only for parents with elementary children. An adolescents group should be included in future studies.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of SNS addiction on cyber-bullying among adolescents, considering the adjustment effect of friendship on this relationship. This study involved 811 middle/high school students with a gender distribution of 391 males and 420 females. According to the analysis, the higher the level of SNS addiction, the higher the level of cyber-bullying. A hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to verify the moderating effect of friendship. The result shows that better peer communication and reliance lowers the impact of cyber-bullying from SNS addiction. Based on research results suggesting the popularization of proactive pre-diagnosis programs to solve SNS addiction, practical intervention plans and the limitations of research on SNS addiction and cyber-bullying in youth are suggested.

In addition, the interaction effects of intention reasoning types and gender on children's understandings of the real emotions and emotional display rules are explored. 144 4-5 year old children in Chungbuk province participated in the experimental interviews. The results are as follows. First, children comprehended the emotional display rules more clearly in a relationship with peers than adults. In terms of a type of emotion, it was the negative emotions rather than positives ones that those children understood better for real emotions and emotional display rules. Second, the main effect of the intention reasoning types on children's understanding of the emotional display rules appeared significant in all episodes. Especially, in negative emotion-peer episode, children with different types of intention reasoning showed a different level of understanding emotional display rules depending on gender of the children.

We analyze three-way ANOVA to verify study question No, one, two, analyze t-verification and Pearson's product moment correlations to verify study question No. three. The result of this study as follows. First, in investigating difference about perceived compretence of children based on age, sex, sociometric status, we can see that children perceive high, self-ability for low ages. Also, boys than girls, popular children than rejected children, neglected children perceive high self-ability. • The benefits of teaching learning materials to others have been shown on learning achievement. Anxiety is one of the obstacles in learning and it has been shown that math anxiety is strongly associated with math achievement. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate whether teaching others benefits math anxiety when university students learn statistics. 59 students who enrolled in statistics class participated and 30 students performed group assignment of teaching peer in a group and 29 students did not. Other than group assignments, the instructor, lectures, assignment of solving the problems, and exams were all the same. The results showed that the math anxiety of students who did group assignments of teaching was decreased at the end the semester. Increased math anxiety yielded negative attitudes toward learning statistics, resulting in poor learning performance. Furthermore, the relationship between math anxiety and the attitudes toward leaning statistics was moderated by teaching others. The results suggest that teaching others has an effect on reducing math anxiety and thus, possibly yield persistent learning gains.

  • Antimicrobial (AM) resistance is a growing threat in human and veterinary medicine, spreading across species and perceived as One-Health issue. Prudent use of AM products is essential in mitigating this risk in both human and veterinary medicine. Farm veterinarians, responsible for prescribing appropriate AM and offering advice to farmers on their proper usage, are regarded as key players in the livestock industry. An online survey of farm veterinarians (n = 1,531) was conducted to assess their educational experience, beliefs, current status of prescription, practical behavior, and self-efficacy regarding the prudent use of antimicrobials (PUA). The data from 170 respondents were analyzed using descriptive statistics, regression and mediation analysis. Participants chose AM based on their experiences, academic resources, and peer veterinarians. Approximately 77% did not routinely conduct antibiotic-susceptibility-test. Most participants believed in the importance of PUA and the role of veterinarians to reduce AM resistance, but they reported a lack of awareness among farmers and insufficient national support interfere with their practical behavior with regard to PUA. Half of the participants had PUA-education, and 78.6% reported that education had a positive impact on their behavior with PUA. Self-efficacy partly mediates the relationship between belief and behavior for PUA, which accounted for 23.77% of the total effect that beliefs have on behavior for PUA. The findings of the study show that enhancing veterinarians' abilities to practice and their self-efficacy through education tailored to the current status of farms can contribute to the reduction of AMs in the livestock sector.

  • This study is a report about the two summer camps of 2009 and 2010, which were held by some gifted classes of Liberal Arts areas in Chungnam Province. The students' self- directed methods, making an own project topic and an outline plan for that by students themselves before the camp, raised up the students' satisfaction of the camp effectively. Staying with their peer students and teachers for 3 days gave the gifted students a chance for relationship, self-confidence, and self-sufficiency. These joint summer camps provided the students with cognitive development, motivations and a chance to meet other gifted students. Teachers' preparation for the camp, their concrete feedback to each student's project, and students' time spending on one's own camp project were correlated with the students' satisfaction of the camp program. Experience of teacher training in gifted education made significant differences in understanding gifted students and expectations of students' social and emotional development throughout and after the camp.
