With globalization, national image has become more important. As national competitiveness is stressed, the Olympics is considered as an opportunity to show host country's general capabilities. Positive national image can be built through successful Olympic Games and Olympic emblem is a core element of visual identity to make such Olympic Games successful. This study researches on Olympic emblem based on the fact that emblem is an important visual medium to show national identity. Examples of national identities reflected in the Olympic emblems were reviewed and then categorized by motifs and expression. Trend of such categories has been analyzed from inner-oriented and external-oriented point of view, and characteristics important for those emblems were studied. This study would be able to be used to understand types of national identities reflected in the Olympic emblems, and used as a basic data to effectively establish strategies on national identity.

This study examined the durability and method for making a mockup of bobsled tracks for constructing a bobsled stadium, which is a sport in the Winter Olympics. As bobsleigh games are very fast and dangerous, a safety design for players and a precise construction using highly efficient shotcrete is necessary. Moreover, a general molding construction is difficult because bobsleigh tracks are composed of various curves and slopes, and it is necessary to construct them using high-strength and high durability materials. The developed method for making a mockup and performing durability evaluation of bobsleigh tracks through this research will be applied in the construction of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics Sliding centre and bobsleigh tracks using domestic techniques.

Hydrological simulation Program-Fortran (HSPF) model was used to simulate streamflow and snow depth at Pyengchang watershed. The selected Global Climate Models (GCMs) provided by the Coupled Model Intercomparision Project Phase 3 (CMIP3) were utilized to evaluate streamflow and snow depth driven by future climate scenarios, including A1, A1B, and B1. Bias-correlation and temporal downscaling processes have been performed to minimize systematic errors between GCMs and HSPF. Based on simulated monthly streamflow and snow depth after calibration, the results indicate that HSPF performs well. The correlation coefficient between the observed and simulated monthly streamflow is 0.94. Snow depth simulations also show high correlation coefficient, which is 0.91. The results indicate that snow depth in 2018 at Pyongchang winter olympic venues will decrease by 17.62%, 9.38%, and 7.25% in January, February, and March respectively, based on streamflow realizations induced by all GCMs ensembles.

If the architecture will made the focus of real user for convenience, it must be the real user, which is the multiple specified persons, more over, the most disadvantages side person will be considered that would be the convenient architecture for all. This principle of universal design has been started the latest 1950's, in USA, Sweden, Canada has considered to the disabled person in the concept of universal design, at 1960's. In case of our country, after 1988's handicapped Olympics, the induction of universal design is started to adapt in the era of architecture. Nowadays, in the group of study, their research, presentation increasing the example, which is carried out the enthusiasm of legislatiov. But we are much as far behind the senior nation, in regard to the lack of the vouluntary participating as the professional. This study is to analyze the principle, concept of Universal design from the department store, which is the convenient facilities, present the usable checklist in time of induction of Universal desigv.

Purpose: This study began with an interest in the meaning and importance of Olympic mascots, and this paper aimed to analyze the types and features of mascots by comparing the Summer Olympics mascots from Munich 1972 to Tokyo 2020 and ultimately to understand the attributes of the Summer Olympic mascots. Research design, data, and methodology: The approach of this study is the exploratory approach by literature reviews. This study carried out exploratory research on thinking about understanding the characteristics of the Summer Olympic Games Mascots. Results: First, the Munich 1972 mascot, Waldi is known as the first official mascot. Second, many mascots are designed the most in animal form. But the process of change according to the material of the Olympic mascot changed from a simple animal form to a finely expressed hybrid mascot, and multiple mascots appeared in the 2000s. Conclusions: The Olympic mascot is a representative symbol of the Olympic Games, representing the identity of the host country. Five attributes of the Olympic mascots were identified: friendliness, a symbolic meaning, originality, diversity, and value. Further implications were discussed.

Along with fusion energy, photovoltaic solar energy conversion has long been considered as one of the few sustainable options for large scale energy supply in the future. In the past, commercial use has been restricted largely to remote area applications where conventional electricity is expensive. However, 1998 marked a year of transition where the major application of the cells changed to become generation of residential electricity in urban areas already supplied by the conventional grid. The current state of the technology is discussed as are major overseas programs to accelerate the urban residential use of photovoltaics, particularly in Japan, Europe and the United States, includng the "million roof" program in the latter. Finally, the planned use of photovoltaics in the Sydney 2000 Olympics is described, where the technology will be used to provide most of the electricity requirements of the 665 residences which will be a legacy of the Olympic Village.

In this paper graphical exploratory data analyses are proposed for ball games in sports. The plot of sequence of scoring points of each team can be used to see how the playing game has been processed until the end of each set or quarter. With the plot of sequential score differences through all the games we can see a dominance of each team and the times of score changes, i.e., turnovers. The ternary plots show the contours of scoring compositions for each player and enable us to compare the scoring patterns of each team if any. Using the score sequence plot we also can see the score pattern distribution of players. For demonstration we use the results of the gold medal match between Russia and Brazil for men's volleyball and between USA and Spain for men's basketball at the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

The purpose of this study was to examine the use and purchase patterns, design and satisfaction degree, and desired performance of boardsailing suits. The subjects were 266 boardsailing athletes and lovers. The results were as follows; (1) The demand of boardsailing suits for spring and autumn was larger than that for the other seasons. (2) The order of influencing power in purchasing boardsailing suits was fitness, textile material, design, color, cost, and brand. (3) Preference of design was one piece style and preference of pattern was character pattern. Additionally, the study on Korean patterns was demanded for international games like Olympics. (4) The order of satisfaction degree of currently used boardsailing suits was activity, size, design, material, sewing, color, pattern, and ease of wearing and taking off. (5) For the performance of boardsailing suits materials, the estimated values of absorbency, water repellency, dye fastness, biological resistance, weight, handle, air permeability, durability, and elasticity were much lower than the importance values.

As the Korea Sports Council and The Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) were integrated in June 2009, the Amended Articles expunged the applicable provisions of the e Korea Sports Arbitration Committee (KSAC), which was established in Markch 2006. To successfully host international sports events, such as 2014 Incheon Asian Games and PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, the Korea Sports Arbitration Committee (KSAC) must be restored immediately. In this sense, this thesis places emphasis on the necessity of precise legal basis with the purpose of the revitalization of sports dispute settlement as well as the enhancement of the Korea Sports Arbitration Committee.

The article is based on the research of the he culture and has discussed the prospect and possibility of application of cultural element "He" in modern design through analyzing the Beijing Olympics'cultural element "He" from its Chinese character's changing forms to its connotation; and the application of the element "He" in traditional design as geometrical figures, homophonic usage, and some legends on it.
