The Effects of Ego-Identity and Crisis on Quality of Life in Midlife Married Women (중년기 기혼여성의 자아정체감 및 위기감이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze on effects of midlife ego-identity and crisis on quality of life in married women. The data were obtained through 394 midwife married women who live in Kwangju and Chonnam. The results were as follows. (1) The mean scores of ego-identity and quality of life were higher than the medium point. The mean scores of crisis was a little lower than the medium. (2) The ego-identity was significantly influenced by religion, health condition, social intimacy, marital relations, and parent-child relations. The crisis was influenced significantly by income, health condition, marital relations, and ego-identity. And the quality of life was influenced significantly by religion, health condition, marital relations, parent-child relations, and crisis. (3) On the result of path analysis, religion, health condition, marital relations, parent-child relations, and crisis directly influenced the Quality of life. Besides, income, social intimacy, and ego-identity indirectly affected the quality of life.

- A Study on the RElationship between Marital Satisfaction and Marital Stability - (결혼만족도와 결혼안정성 간의 관계에 관한 일 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how external pressures to remain married and alternative attractions to a marriage influence the relationship between marital satisfaction and marital stability. A total of 228 married women in Seoul responded to structured questionnaires. The major findings are as follows; 1. While the marital satisfaction is positively associated with the marital stability, the alternative attractions to a marriage are negatively associated with the marital stability. But there is no significant correlation between external pressures to remain married and marital stability. 2. The relationship strength between marital satisfaction and marital stability according to the level of external pressures to remain married and actual alternatives to a marriage is not appeared significant difference. 3. When the external pressures to remain marred are low and the imaginary alternatives to a marriage are low, marital satisfaction is the most powerful predictor of marital stability. 4. Whether wife has a job and marital satisfaction affected the marital stability independently.

A Study on the Work-Family Relationship of Married Women in the Digital Age : Focusing on the avoidance of childbirth

  • This study examined the work - family relationship of married women in the digital age centered on avoidance of childbirth. Married women 's age, education level, family members living together, work - family affects the avoidance of childbirth. Also, it is analyzed that similar childbirth avoidance phenomenon occurs in the result of the number of future children. Based on the results of the research, it can be suggested that the support of the family living together, the stable employment of married women, and the family-friendly incentive system will have a positive effect on childbirth.

The Sexual Satisfaction in Married Women (기혼여성의 성만족)

  • This study was conducted to explore the level of sexual satisfaction in married women. This is a descriptive study. The data was collected from July 19 to Aug 10, 1997 utilizing a questionnaire developed by researchers. Sexual satisfaction(a=,926) was measured by the Sexual satisfaction scale(Kim at el, 1997) which is consisted of 17-items. And data was analysed using SPSS /PC+7.5. The following is a summary of the study. 1. The study surveyed a total of 400 married women from Seoul, Kyungki do. and Pusan. The mean age of the subjects was 38.61 years with the range from 22 to 69 years. A large proportion of the subjects(69.3%) had received a high school education or further education. In terms of the marital satisfaction, 68.6% of subjects were moderately or highly satisfied : 6.8% were dissatisfied. 2. The mean score and standard deviation of the sexual satisfaction was 42.74$\pm$10.42 with the range from 17 to 68 score. 3. The variables influencing on sexual satisfaction were age, education level, income. job, stress. and perceived marital satisfaction.

Determinant of Married Women′s New Entry in Labor Market after the First Child Birth (첫 자녀 출산 후 노동시장 신규진입의 결정요인)

  • This study has examined factors of young married women's new entry in labor market after the birth of their first child. For the dynamic analysis, the Cox Regression Hazard Model is applied. The following results are obtained: First, about 33% of married women who did not have a job at the pre-birth enter in labor market at the post-birth. Second, compared to those out of the labor force, women who succeeded in finding their first jobs after the birth of their first child are more likely to be younger, have baby-sitters, have working experiences in the past, and have lower level of household income. Third, age, having baby-sitter and the experience of job transition are vital factors in entering the labor market after the first child birth.

The Effects of Leisure Facilities Preference and Leisure Participation on the Life Satisfaction of New-generation Married Women (신세대 기혼여성의 여가시설선호 및 여가활동참여가 생활만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this empirical study is to examine the effect of leisure facilities preferences and leisure activities of new-generation married women on their life satisfaction. The samples was composed of 195 married women under 35 years. old, selected by age and local distribution. The major findings of this study re as follows. The new-generation wives preferred culture.intellectual arts facilities to sport facilities to sport facilities and participated in home-oriented activities. The more new-generation married women participated in active leisure, the higher level they showed in life satisfaction. There is no significant affect of leisure facilities preference on life satisfaction. The finding of this study provide implications regarding the policies on leisure facilities and leisure education programs to enhance the quality of life of the new-generation wives, such as establishing community leisure facilities which can help the mother as well as young children enjoy their leisure activities with less expense, and managing continuing education programs in which the new-generation wives easily participate with their families.

A Study on the Condition and Need of Work-Family Balance (남성의 일-가정 양립 실태와 요구도)

  • This study analyzes the balance between work and family in married, working men and investigates their need to create this balance. Data from 253 married men was collected and analyzed. The index for the questionnaire was developed using the scale from the Second National Survey of Korean Families and related research. The results show that married, working men are slightly better at balancing their work and family lives than average. Furthermore, the effects of job-related variables were higher than the effects of other social-demographic variables. Job flexibility was the major variable that determined the balance between work and family. The highest need to balance between work and family was monetary support for caring and educating children. This paper concludes that in order to improve the work-family balance, the current working culture has to be changed, and various policies and strategies that encourage a family-friendly working culture must be implemented.

  • I compared role gratification and role strain of American and East Asian married women graduate students taking multiple roles of study, assistant work in the school, family care, and household management, etc. The American students experienced more strain overall than their East Asian counterparts. Perceived gratification and strain were strongly related to time demands for the American group and to economic conditions for East Asian group. The more nontraditional the gender-role altitudes of the East Asian students, the less strain they experienced. More than half of the East Asian students perceived that their own gender roles, but not those of their husbands had changed since they came to the United States. Perceived gender-role change of the husband was strongly related to role strain for the East Asian students.

Factors Affecting Turnover Intention among Married Nurses in Small and Medium-sized Hospitals (중소병원 기혼간호사의 이직의도에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Purpose: This descriptive study analyzed the factors affecting turnover intention among married nurses in small- and medium-sized hospitals with less than 300 beds. Methods: Data were collected from 177 married nurses located in K city from April 8, 2022 to April 21, 2022 using a questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, independent tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient test, and multiple regression were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 22 program. Results: Nurses rated items on a scale of five points. Their average rating for job satisfaction was 3.43±0.30, resilience was 3.51±0.38, and role conflict was 2.60±0.63. The nursing practice environment was rated 3.12±0.44, and turnover intention was 3.14±0.62 points. Age, job satisfaction, and nursing practice environment accounted for 25.1% of turnover intention (F=6.90, p<.001). Conclusion: To decrease married nurses' turnover intention in small- and medium-sized hospitals with less than 300 beds, these findings can help develop a program that addresses the causes of high turnover amongst married nurses in local hospitals.

A Study on Work and Fanmily Life of Married Female Workers and Family-Welfare Policy Implications (대구지역 저소득층 기혼여성의 일과 가족생활 실태파악 및 가족복지 대책수립에 관한연구)

  • This study examines work and family life of married women and policy implications of the low class in Daegu area. Data were gathered from the use of face-to-face interview method from a sample of 564 married working women. And the political printed materials of family welfare policy(1988~1993) were analyzed. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: Most of the respondents remain unstable in their working situation with the double burden of a paid work and housework. Thus it is necessary for the government to implement family policies for married working women such as establichment of various child care centers study room for adolescence councelling center job-training center and dissemination of egalitarian sex-role attitudes. Finally it is suggested that the formulation of family net works be promoted for the effective utilization of local resources and family welfare programs.
