The Influence of Beauty Academies' Relationship Marketing on Quality of Educational Services and Learners' Relationship Commitment (미용학원의 관계마케팅이 교육서비스 품질 및 학습자 관계몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • This study attempted to investigate the influence of relationship marketing on the quality of educational services and learners' relationship commitment, and the goals are to provide basic data needed to develop business management strategies and promote the growth of beauty education industry. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed against the students from beauty academies in Yeongnam region, and a total of 503 copies were used for final analysis. The study results found the followings: First, there were differences by each factor among relationship marketing, quality of educational services and learners' relationship commitment. Second, relationship marketing revealed a statistically significant effect on the quality of educational services. Third, relationship marketing showed a significant influence on learners' relationship commitment. Fourth, the quality of educational services showed a significant effect on learners' relationship commitment. It is anticipated that the study results would be available as basic data needed for beauty academies to develop business management strategies and promote the growth of beauty academy industry.

The Effects of the Relational Benefits of Hairdressing Business on Customer Commitment (헤어미용업의 관계효익이 고객몰입에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to investigate the difference in customer commitment according to the demographic characteristics of hair salon customers and the relational benefits of hairdressing business that affect customer commitment. The questionnaire for empirical research was collected from customers of hair salon in Gyeongnam, and the analysis results are as follows. First, as a result of analyzing the difference in customer commitment according to the demographic characteristics of hair salon customers, customer commitment was statistically high in the group of college graduates or higher and the group of men. Second, as a result of analyzing the causal relationship between relational benefits and customer commitment, it was found that customization benefits, social benefits, and psychological benefits of relational benefits had a statistical effect on customer commitment. In particular, it was found that psychological benefits had the strongest effect on customer commitment.

Effects of Lavender Extract on Damaged Hair (라벤더 추출물이 손상모발에 미치는 영향)

  • This study attempted to investigate the effect of manufacturing a formulation with lavender extract and applying it to damaged hair. The experimental material was prepared by adding 0 g, 3 g 6 g, and 9 g of lavender extract to the perm base agent. The prepared formulation was applied to four damaged hair samples and compared and analyzed. As a measurement method for the effect on damaged hair, tensile strength, absorbance using methylene blue, and gloss were measured. Statistical analysis was conducted for the reliability of the research results. The tensile strength measurement results showed that the tensile strength of the sample applied with a formulation containing 6 g and 9 g at 8 levels increased, affecting damaged hair. As a result of absorbance analysis using methylene blue, it was found that the absorbance of all samples applied by adding extracts decreased, affecting damaged hair. The gloss measurement results showed that the addition of 9 g affected the damaged hair. In conclusion, it can be seen that lavender extract affects damaged hair, so it is considered to have an effect of improving Damage hair.

A Study of Oil of Basil Extract on Improvement of Hair Damage (바질 오일의 손상모발 개선효과에 관한 연구)

  • This study attempted to investigate the effect of improving damaged hair by preparing a hair improving agent with basil oil and applying it to damaged hair. An experimental material was added to a perm base agent containing 0 g, 3 g, 6 g, 9 g of basil oil to prepare the preparation. It was applied to sample hair bleached at 8 levels with the prepared formulation. Each sample and damaged hair were measured and analyzed. The measurement method measured tensile strength, absorbance and gloss using methylene blue to determine the effect of improving maternal quality. Statistical analysis was conducted on the reliability of the study results. Studies have shown that all samples with basil oil have higher tensile strength than damaged hair. As a result of the absorbance analysis using methylene blue, it was found that the absorbance was lower than that of damaged hair in all samples. Gloss measurement showed that all samples showed increased luster compared to damaged hair. In conclusion, basil oil was found to improve damaged hair. In the future, research on various types of oil and research methods is needed.

Taxifolin Glycoside Blocks Human ether-a-go-go Related Gene $K^+$ Channels

  • Taxifolin glycoside is a new drug candidate for the treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD). Many drugs cause side effects such as long QT syndrome by blocking the human ether-a-go-go related gene (hERG) $K^+$ channels. To determine whether taxifolin glycoside would block hERG $K^+$ channels, we recorded hERG $K^+$ currents using a whole-cell patch clamp technique. We found that taxifolin glycoside directly blocked hERG $K^+$ current in a concentration-dependent manner ($EC_{50}=9.6{\pm}0.7{\mu}M$). The activation curve of hERG $K^+$ channels was negatively shifted by taxifolin glycoside. In addition, taxifolin glycoside accelerated the activation time constant and reduced the onset of the inactivation time constant. These results suggest that taxifolin glycoside blocks hERG $K^+$ channels that function by facilitating activation and inactivation process.

Analysis of Aroma Components by Part of Allium Hookeri and Research on Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory (삼채잎 향기 성분 분석과 항산화 및 항염 효과 연구)

  • Allium Hookeri is a plant of the genus Allium, and prior research has been conducted on antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, but studies on essential oil extraction are insufficient. Therefore, in this study, GC-MSD was performed by extracting essential oils for Allium Hookeri leaves, roots, and whole parts. The cytotoxicity, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties of Allium Hookeri leaves were confirmed to confirm their potential as a cosmetic material. The yield of essential oil extraction from Allium Hookeri leaves, roots and whole parts was found to be 0.01, 0.02, 0.01%. As a result of analyzing the aroma components of GC-MSD, the main components of essential oil of Allium Hookeri leaves were Diallyl trisulfide (34.02%) and Methyl allyl trisulfide (25.14%). At a concentration of 10%, where cytotoxicity was not confirmed, 39.69% inhibition of NO production and 88.26% of DPPH radical scavenging activity were shown. Through this, the Allium Hookeri essential oil presents the possibility of being useful as a raw material with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in cosmetics.

The Possibility of Passiflora Caerulea Extract as Cosmetic Material (Passiflora caerulea 추출물의 화장품 소재 활용 가능성)

  • This study attempted to investigate the possibility of Passiflora caerulea extract as a cosmetic material by measuring its antioxidant activities and melanin biosynthesis-inhibiting effects. For this, the substance was extracted with 70% ethanol, and ABTS radical scavenging activities were measured, using the TEAC assay. In addition, cell viability through the neutral red assay, ROS inhibition and inhibition of melanin biosynthesis were analyzed, and the results found the followings: In terms of ABTS radical scavenging activities of the extract, dose-dependent scavenging activities were observed. In trolox used as a positive control group and 0.1 mg/mL, similar radical scavenging activities were found. The production of ROS through CFDA was inhibited in a dose-dependent fashion. Furthermore, inhibition of melanin biosynthesis induced by 𝛼-MSH was confirmed. Therefore, it is reasonable to conclude that Passiflora caerulea extract has a potential as a cosmetic ingredient.

The Influence of Appearance Satisfaction on Interest in Eye Makeup and Makeup care Behavior in Female Consumers (여성 소비자의 외모만족도가 아이 메이크업 관심도 및 메이크업 관리행동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study attempted to verify the influence of appearance satisfaction on interest in eye makeup and makeup care behavior in female consumers and provide basic data which are needed to plan marketing strategies and develop cosmetics in the cosmetics market. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed against adult women in their 20-50s from the capital region. A total of 399 copies were used for final analysis, and the results found the followings: First, differences were found in appearance satisfaction, interest in eye makeup and makeup care behavior by general characteristics. In other words, interest in eye makeup started with 'self-care', showing interest in chasing a trend. Second, concerning the effects of appearance satisfaction on interest in eye makeup, as the respondents were more satisfied with their facial contour, they were more interested in eye makeup. Third, in terms of the influence of appearance satisfaction on eye makeup care behavior, as they were more satisfied with their skin conditions, trend-setting makeup care behavior increased. Consequently, increase in appearance satisfaction enhanced interest in eye makeup, having an influence on makeup care behavior.

Effects of Gastrodiae rhizoma on the Liver Function and Alcohol Metabolism in Alcohol Treated Rats (천마 추출물이 알코올을 투여한 흰쥐의 간 기능 및 알코올 대사에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of freeze-dried Gastrodiae rhizoma powder (GR) on the liver function and alcohol metabolism in alcohol treated rats. Methods: The rats were administered various concentrations of GR (100 mg, 200 mg, 300 mg/kg B.W.) for 3 days 1 hour before 50% (v/v) ethanol (3 g/kg B.W.) administration. Two tests focusing on liver function and alcohol metabolism in acute alcohol treatment were carried out. Results: Glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase activity was significantly increased by alcohol treatment, and was decreased by 100 mg GR administration. Acute ethanol treatment led to significant increase in alcohol and acetaldehyde levels of serum and liver. However, 100 mg GR administration led to a significant reduction in increased alcohol level in the serum with decreased alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) activity and increased acetaldehyde level in liver was significantly reduced by three levels. Conclusion: These results suggest that GR can be effective in enhancing liver function and alcohol metabolism in the alcohol-treated rats. Studies on the appropriate dosage of GR should further be developed to treat alcohol detoxification and stimulate liver function.

The Cytoprotective Action of Portulaca oleracea 70% EtOH Extracts via the Heme Oxygenase-1 on Hydrogen Peroxide-induced Oxidative Stress in Human Keratinocyte HaCaT Cells (마치현 70% 에탄올 추출물의 Heme Oxygenase-1 발현을 통한 산화적 스트레스에 대한 사람각질형성세포 보호 효과)

  • Keratinocytes are first barrier against outer challenges on skin. However, it is still largely unknown about effective protectors against ultraviolet B (UVB), and oxidative stress in human keratinocyte, HaCaT cells. Inducible heme oxygenase (HO)-1 acts against oxidants that are thought to play a role in the pathogenesis of skin disorders. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of Portulaca oleracea 70% EtOH extracts against hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced oxidative stress in human keratinocytes, HaCaT cells. P. oleracea 70% EtOH extracts showed the potent protective effects on H2O2-induced toxicity by induced the expression of HO-1 in human keratinocyte, HaCaT cells. Furthermore, P. oleracea 70 % EtOH extracts caused the nuclear accumulation of nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) in human keratinocytes, HaCaT cells. In addition, we found that treatment with c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) inhibitor (SP600125) reduced P. oleracea 70% EtOH extracts-induced HO-1 expression, and JNK inhibitor (SP600125) also inhibited protective effects by P. oleracea 70% EtOH extracts. Therefore, these results suggest that P. oleracea 70 % EtOH extracts increases cellular resistance to H2O2-induced oxidative injury in human keratinocyte, HaCaT cells, presumably through JNK pathway-Nrf2-dependent HO-1 expression.
