  • This work is concerned with the estimation of output derivatives and their use for the design of robust controller for linear systems with systems uncertainties due to modeling errors and disturbance. It is assumed that a nominal transfer function model and Quantitative bounds for system uncertainties are known. The developed control schemes are shown to achieve regulation of the system output and ensures boundedness of the system states without imposing any structural conditions on system uncertainties and disturbances. Output derivative estimation is first conducted trough restructuring of the plant in a specific parameterization. They are utilized for constructing robust nonlinear high-gain feedback controller of a SMC(Sliding Mode Controller) Type. The performances of the developed controller are evaluated and shown to be effective and useful through simulation study.

  • This paper presents a method for detecting faults in data obtained from the Automatic Identification System (AIS) of surface vessels. The data include latitude, longitude, Speed Over Ground (SOG), and Course Over Ground (COG). We derive two methods that utilize two models: a constant state model and a derivative augmented model. The constant state model incorporates noise variables to account for state changes, while the derivative augmented model employs explicit variables such as first or second derivatives, to model dynamic changes in state. Generally, the derivative augmented model detects faults more promptly than the constant state model, although it is vulnerable to potentially overlooking faults. The effectiveness of this method is validated using AIS data collected at a harbor. The results demonstrate that the proposed approach can automatically detect faults in AIS data, thus offering partial assistance for enhancing navigation safety.

  • We present a local convergence analysis of some Newton-like methods of R-order at least three in order to approximate a solution of a nonlinear equation in a Banach space. Our sufficient convergence conditions involve only hypotheses on the first and second $Fr{\acute{e}}chet$-derivative of the operator involved. These conditions are weaker that the corresponding ones given by Hernandez, Romero [10] and others [1], [4]-[9] requiring hypotheses up to the third $Fr{\acute{e}}chet$ derivative. Numerical examples are also provided in this study.

  • In this paper, we work two different problems. First, we investigate a new class of fractional differential equations involving Caputo sequential derivative with some (e1, e2, θ)-periodic conditions. The existence and uniqueness of solutions are proven. The stability of solutions is also discussed. The second part includes studying traveling wave solutions of a conformable fractional Korteweg-de Vries-Burger (KdV Burger) equation through the Tanh method. Graphs of some of the waves are plotted and discussed, and a conclusion follows.

  • In this study, we developed novel indicators to assess postoperative pain based on PPG derivative waveform. As the candidate indicator of postoperative pain assessment, the time from the start of beating to the n-th peak($T_n$) and the n-th peak amplitude($A_n$) of the PPG derivative were selected. In order to verify derived indicators, each candidate indicator was derived from the PPG of 78 subjects before and after surgery, and it was confirmed whether significant changes were observed after surgery. Logistic classification was performed with each proposed indicator to calculate the pain classification accuracy, then the classification performance was compared with SPI(Surgical Pleth Index, GE Healthcare, Chicago, US). The results showed that there were significant differences(p < 0.01) in all indicators except for $T_3$ and $A_3$. The coefficient of variation(CV) of every time-related indicators were lower than the CV of SPI(30.43%), however, the CV in amplitude-related parameters were higher than that of SPI. Among the candidate indicators, amplitude of the first peak, $A_1$, showed that highest accuracy in post-operative pain classification, 68.72%, and it is 15.53% higher than SPI.

  • Viscoelastic damping materials are widely used to reduce noise and vibration because of its low cost and easy implementation, for examples, on the body structure of passenger cars, air planes, electric appliances and ships. To design the damped structures, the material property such as elastic modulus and loss factor is essential information. The four-parameter fractional derivative model well describes the dynamic characteristics of the viscoelastic damping materials with respect to both frequency and temperature. However, the identification procedure of the four-parameter is very time-consuming one. In this study a new identification procedure of the four-parameters is proposed by using an FE model and a gradient-based numerical search algorithm. The identification procedure goes two sequential steps to make measured frequency response functions(FRF) coincident with simulated FRFs: the first one is a peak alignment step and the second one is an amplitude adjustment step. A numerical example shows that the proposed method is useful in identifying the viscoelastic material parameters of fractional derivative model.

To design the damped structures, the material property such as elastic modulus and loss factor is essential information. The four-parameter fractional derivative model well describes the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the viscoelastic damping materials with respect to both frequency and temperature with fewer parameters than conventional spring-dashpot models. However the identification procedure of the four-parameter is very time-consuming one. An efficient identification procedure of the four-parameters is proposed by using an FE model and a gradient-based numerical search algorithm. The identification procedure goes two sequential steps to make measured FRFs coincident with simulated FRFs: the first one is a peak alignment step and the second one is an amplitude adjustment. • The carboxylated multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-COOH) and functionalized with isatin derivative (MWCNT-isatin) have been used as efficient adsorbents for the removal of lead (Pb) from aqueous solutions. The influence of variables including pH, concentration of the lead, amount of adsorbents and contact time was investigated by the batch method. The adsorption of the lead ions from aqueous solution by modified MWCNTs was studied kinetically using different kinetic models. The kinetic data were fitted with pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and intra-particle diffusion models. The sorption process with MWCNT-COOH and MWCNT-isatin was well described by pseudo-second-order and pseudo-first-order kinetics, respectively which it was agreed well with the experimental data. Also, it involved the particle-diffusion mechanism. The values of regression coefficient of various adsorption isotherm models like Langmuir, Freundlich and Tempkin to obtain the characteristic parameters of each model have been carried out. The Langmuir isotherm was found to best represent the measured sorption data for both adsorbent.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop an automatic measuring system based on the digital image processing which can be applied to the in-process measurement of the characteristics of the thin thickness. The derivative operators is used for edge detection in gray level image. This concept can be easiliy illustrated with the aid of object shows an image of a simple light object on a dark background, the gray level profile along a horizontal scan line of the image, and the first and second derivatives of the profile. The first derivative of an edge modeled in this manner is () in all regions of constant gray level, and assumes a constant value during a gray level transition. The experimental results indicate that the developed qutomatic inspection system can be applied in real situation.
