A Study on the Design Changes and the Acceptance of Identity on Luxury Brand Bags -Focusing on the Fashion Collections of Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Chanel-

  • A luxury brand bag is a medium to symbolize brand identity and plays a role in enhancing brand value. A typical example is a designer signature bag such as Hermes Kelly Bag, Birkin Bag, and Lady Dior Bag. The purpose of this study is to analyze the design changes and acceptance of identity of luxury brand bags and examine the design characteristics that succeed to the value of a luxury brand bag. The subjects of the study focused on Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Chanel bags. Photos were collected from www.vogue.co. uk. based on the fashion collections from S/S 2007 to S/S 2016. The study methodology was to analyze the kinds, shapes, colors, materials, and the ornament of subject bags based on previous studies. The results of the study were summarized as follows. For the identity and design changes of each brand, Chanel has tried to combine functionality pursued in the past with constantly changing femininity by making bags in fantastic moods using various materials and free shapes. Gucci has constantly used Ornament elements holding the brand identity of classic bags and trend colors to keep tradition. Louis Vuitton holds fast to its functional shape to protect brand identity through design philosophy that started with a travel luggage and attempts to express modern emotion through Ornament changes. This study confirmed that luxury brands have accepted their unique design characteristics holding brand identity to improve their brand value and attempted to change constructive elements in many different ways for modern reinterpretation.

오페라 '마술피리'의 무대의상 제작 사례 연구 (A Case Study of Stage Costume and Clothing Constructions for Opera, Using the Magic Flute)

  • The 21st century are seeing a large number of performing arts, and one of them, opera is evolving, transforming itself as one of total arts. Besides, the costume in performing art which play a major role in opera's visual impact, characterize figures, set the tone for performance and greatly contribute to the perfection of the stage. Under these circumstances, the study developed designs of stage costumes and built a full-scale production of the Magic Flute, one of three greatest Mozart operas. The opera based on a fiction, is still popular today since it is a fantastic fairy tale introducing moral and ethical lessons. The play's background itself is Egypt. But due to its fairy-take-like storyline, it has been performed focusing on various concepts rather than on costumes prepared through background research. As such, this study conducted research on designs of stage costumes that contains the element of Egypt and also take athleticism and comfort into consideration. The results derived from the study were as follows. First, traditional dresses of ancient Egypt were used as a basis while adding some modem touch in terms of forms or colors, which resulted in a new design. Second, a variety of images were captured using textures and colors that fit the characteristics of attributes of the figures. Third painting techniques were used to help highlight the symbolic image of Egypt-simple, not heavy and extravagant-with fairy-tale-like fantasy.

  • 필자는 팬터지 문학작품을 이용하는 것이 학생들의 창의력 함양에 도움이 되는 이유를 밝히고 있다. 창의성이란 정보를 통합하는 두뇌활동 중에 생산되는 것인데 팬터지 작품은 등장인물이나 배경을 통하여 이질적인 현실세계와 비현실의 있을 수 없는 정보들을 하나의 이야기로 엮음으로써 이질적인 정보를 하나의 시스템에 통합시킨다. 팬터지를 읽는 독자의 두뇌는 매우 이질적 정보들이 시스템(이야기)화 하는 즉 정보 통합의 예를 경험하게 된다. 그러므로 독서지도에서 팬터지 작품을 많이 이용하면 학생들의 두뇌활동 중에 정보를 통합하는 기회가 많아 질 것이고 학생들은 자연히 창의성 함양의 기회를 많이 가질 수 있다.

Assembly of Magnetic Nano-Fe3O4@GSH-Au NCs Core-Shell Microspheres for the Visualization of Latent Fingerprints

  • Glutathione (GSH), the protective agent and reducing agent, has been widely used to prepare gold nanoclusters (GSH-Au NCs) with stable fluorescence properties and negative charge of the surface. Meanwhile, polyethyleneimine (PEI) was used as the modification agent to synthesize magnetic ferroferric oxide nanoparticles ($Fe_3O_4$) with fantastic dispersibility and positive charge of the surface. Based on the electrostatic adsorption force, magnetic nano-$Fe_3O_4@GSH-Au$ NCs core-shell microspheres composed of magnetic $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticles modified by PEI as the core and GSH-Au NCs as the shell were assembled. The prepared $Fe_3O_4@GSH-Au$ NCs microspheres harbored a uniform size (88.6 nm), high magnetization (29.2 emu/g) and excellent fluorescence. Due to the coordination bond action between Au atom and sulfhydryl (-SH), amino ($-NH_2$), carboxyl (-COOH) in sweat, $Fe_3O_4@GSH-Au$ NCs could combine with latent fingerprints. In addition, $Fe_3O_4@GSH-Au$ NCs with good fluorescence and magnetism could detect fingerprints on various objects. Significantly, the powders were not easy to suspend in the air, which avoided the damage to the health of forensic experts and the fingerprints by only powder contacting. Above all, $Fe_3O_4@GSH-Au$ NCs was successfully applied to the latent fingerprint visualization, which has great potential in forensic science.

패션 브랜드 유튜브 캠페인에 나타난 해체주의적 특성 (Deconstruction Characteristics in Fashion Brand YouTube Campaign)

  • The purpose is to derive its aesthetic characteristics by objectifying the visual image of the YouTube campaign into adjectives. As a result, we intend to identify advertising strategies that use them as basic data for setting fashion design concepts. A group of experts in fashion majors watched each of them, wrote adjectives, and collected 75 adjectives. By analyzing the frequency of adjectives, aesthetic characteristics were derived with adjectives recording the upper number of times, and the results were obtained that they had the characteristics of deconstruction. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, Tamburin's Jenny appeared to be strange, scary, rambling and charming. Among the internal meanings of deconstruction due to spatial, social, and psychological distance from consumers, it can be said that T.P.O's mutual textuality and play of interaction. Second, Gucci Cruise be chosen rural, strange, wild, unharmonious, and difficult, which is a mixture of intertextuality and play of T.P.O. Third, The Excise Gucci Campaign parodies that juxtaposes six films directed by Stanley Kubrick, making them strange, retro, difficult, interesting, and wrong. Deconstructionist de-genre and de-boundary Fourth, Kenzo World is weird, dynamic, wrong, difficult, difficult, and confused, which correspond to T.P.O's interactive textuality, play of the second half, and destruction and decomposition among the external expressions of deconstruction. Fifth, Burberry Hero emphasized the aesthetic value of traditional men, so it was ostensibly wild, free, powerful, sensual, and fantastic. Compared to the lifestyle of men who usually work at work, this corresponds to play of second best.

  • 코스튬 플레이는 디지털 게임이나 만화, 애니메이션 속의 등장인물 또는 캐릭터의 외형적인 모습이나 행동을 모방하는 행위이다. 최근 중국에서 애니메이션, 게임의 영화화로 코스프레 문화가 확산되었고 이에 따라 캐릭터를 코스프레 하는 코서들이 증가하고 있다. 칠미조는 중국의 코스프레 사진작가로 코스프레 문화의 특징을 깊게 이해하고 이를 실질적으로 반영한 작품으로 코서들 사이에서 큰 인기를 끌고 있다. 특히, 코스프레 사진의 상업적인 측면뿐만 아니라 문화예술적 가능성을 제시하여 중국의 코스프레 사진 분야에서 중요한 사진가로 인식되고 있다. 본 논문은 칠미조가 어떠한 촬영 방식으로 원작의 내용을 재구현했는지 살펴보았다. 분석 결과 칠미조는 과도한 후기 작업을 피하고 캐릭터의 초현실적인 이미지를 현실감 있게 촬영했다. 캐릭터의 이미지를 형상화하는 소품을 활용하거나 특정 행위를 강조했고 원작의 배경과 유사한 야외 촬영지를 다양하게 활용했다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 중국 코스프레 사진의 예술적 가능성을 구현하기 위한 창작 방식에 대해 논의하였다.

한국 전통 문양을 활용한 자카드 직물의 감성 평가 (The Sensibility of Jacquard Fabrics Applied by Korean Traditional Motives)

  • In this research, we investigated the university students' consciousness and preference for the jacquard fabrics and developed the evaluation scale of the sensibility of jacquard fabrics appied by Korean traditional motives. 23 jacquard fabrics were assessed subjectively by 466 consumers using the 7-point scale of 23 descriptors of texture sensibility and 50 descriptors image sensibility. The percentage of students who were interested in jacquard fabrics was similar as that of students who were uninterested. 75.3% of students were shown to think that it was necessary to apply Korean traditional motives to the jacquard fabrics. Through cluster analysis, the hierarchy of the image sensibility was examined. The tactile sensibility of jacquard fabrics were classified into 9 sub-clusters, image sensibility of them were classified into 14 sub-clusters. The dimensions evaluating the image sensibility of jacquard fabrics were developed using multi-dimensional scaling method. A 3-dimensions and 6-axes system were determined, which consisted of 'classic-modern', 'splendid-plain', 'abstract-realistic'. It was shown that preference of jacquard fabrics was increased, as image sensibility such as 'various', 'gorgeouse', 'beautiful', 'mild', 'dim', 'traditional', 'orderly', 'comfortable', 'dignified', 'abundant', 'fantastic', and 'vague' were increased and those such as 'intense', 'old', 'stuffy', 'exotic' and 'static' were decreased.

패션에 활용된 디지털 그라피티의 특성과 표현방법 (A Study on the Characteristics of Digital Graffiti and Expression in Fashion)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the potential of digital graffiti as a new creative tool in fashion through analysis of its expressive features and methods merged in fashion. The results from the analysis of fashion cases using digital graffiti may be summarized as follows. First, 'Mixing of Materials and Non-materials' matched immaterial lights and images with physical clothing materials and space, effectively expressing imaginary spheres that were not expressible with the existing materials. Second, 'Fantastic Storytelling' expressed theme such as 'Sun', 'UFO', 'Science Fiction Film', 'Fantasy Fairy Tale', and 'Universe' through lasers, lights, augmented reality and LED graffiti. Third, 'Convergence with Human and Digital Media' accentuated the active participation of spectators thereby causing human and digital media to interact with each other. Designer's ideas and unexpected responses of spectators realized various digital graffiti effects, which came across by sheer chance. Fourth, 'Utilizing of Site-Specificity' met with the best results when the digital graffiti was expressed in context of a place or location where fashion performance is taking place. Fifth, ' Playfulness by Consumer Participation' intended to induce voluntary participation from consumers by providing the fashion digital graffiti as play tools, and created new fashion digital graffiti or altered existing stereotypes, thereby invoking new visual and tactile experiences. Likewise, today's digital graffiti are emerging in various fields, and the trend of fashion-digital graffiti integration has already created interesting works.

중국에서 프로젝션 맵핑을 활용한 융합콘텐츠 사례 연구 (A Study on the Convergence Contents of Projection Mapping in China)

  • 프로젝션 맵핑은 현대 컴퓨터 그래픽 기술과 예술을 융합한 독창적인 문화산업이다. 중국 문화시장에 진출한 후 강한 시각적 충격을 주었고, 이를 마케팅 상업 수단으로 활용하는 비즈니스가 늘어나는 추세이다. 또한 광고, 건축, 관광 등 많은 분야에서 활용하고 있다. 현재 중국에서는 프로젝션 맵핑을 구현할 수 있는 전문가가 부족한 상태이며 연구 자료나 교육과정 또한 부족한 상태이므로 본 논문에서는 프로젝션 맵핑을 활용한 융합형 콘텐츠 사례에 대해 정리하고 향후 발전방향에 대해 연구하였다. 또한 프로젝션 맵핑 기술은 각기 다른 스마트 기술과 개인 생활을 융합해서 일상생활이나 더 많은 분야에 적용되어 스마트 정보사회뿐만 아니라 엔터테인먼트 콘텐츠 산업에도 크게 기여하리라 사료된다.

패션 일러스트레이션에 나타난 팜므 파탈(Femme Fatale) 이미지 (The Femme Fatale Image in Fashion Illustration)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze and theorize the characteristics of femme fatale in fashion illustration since 1980. The method of this study was to analyze the documentaries for theoretical studies about femme fatale and the visual characteristics in fashion illustration works since 1980. The results of this study were as follows: Femme fatale expressed in the general realm of art was icon of fatal and seductive eroticism in late 19th century. She is composed of diverse images like mythology, exoticism, fear and sensuality. The characteristics of her image in fashion illustration were expressed into de-body image by union of animal and female body, or machine and female body, duplicity of death and sexuality, sexual decadence or abnormality and powerful masculine taste. First, de-body image by union of animal and female body, or machine and female body was expressed in transformed mythical image or bizarre and demonic image, grotesque image linked by picture of female body and painting of animal image, and cyborg image linked by machine and realistic female body by digital media. Second, duplicity of death and sexuality was expressed in juxtaposition by sexual pose, body and something metaphorical and symbolic depiction and de-constructive depiction of death. Third, sexual decadence or abnormality was expressed in fetishistic style, obscene depiction of cheap and hedonistic sexuality, masochistic depiction like antisocial and diseased sex appeal. Forth, powerful masculine taste was expressed in man's face, body, pose, masculine fashion, man's role related to crime and threatening weapon, etc. As mentioned above, femme fatale in fashion illustration was expressed in diverse images by fashion illustrator's point of view. Although she was originated by men's fantastic vision, she brings a catharsis to human being. And she is also recognized as new paradigm and positive cultural sign in our times.
