The Common Core States Standards was developed by building on the best state standards in the U.S.; examining the expectations of other highperforming countries around world; and carefully studying the research and literature available on what students need to know. The Common Core States Standards for Mathematics are reshaping the teaching and learning of mathematics in California classroom using the California Common Core States Standards for Mathematics(CA CCSSM). The aim of this study is to observe CA CCSSM. The CA CCSSM were established to address the problem of having a curriculum that is 'a mile wide and an inch deep'. And it have two types of standards. One is standards for mathematical practice which are the same at each grade level, the other is standards for mathematical content which are different at each grade level. This study focused on standards for mathematical content, in particular, on Geometry domain in elementary level, using Mathematics Framework for California Public Schools.
In the United States, California is well known for its rigorous education and licensing system regarding East Asian Medicine and acupuncture. As in most other states in America, the State government controls the practice of acupuncture, massage, acupressure therapy, food therapy, and natural therapy using a board established to set, maintain, and uphold licensing credentials for acupuncturists and practitioners of East Asian medicine. In California the system started in the 1970s when the State Legislature passed a bill to measure competency, and license acupuncturists. This study briefly describes the California Acupuncture Board (CAB), which is authorized to control the related education, examination, continuing education, and management of licenses already awarded. This study addresses the essential and minimum educational requirement established by the CAB for licensure, that is mandate classroom lecture with additional 950 hours clinic training, and the 50 hours of continuing education credits earned every two years, for maintaining the license.

Improving long-term performance in highway projects is an imperative goal for public administrations. Project delivery and procurement methods might provide an opportunity to align design and construction processes with this goal. Previous studies have explored whether project delivery methods impact the long-term performance of highway projects. However, these studies did not focus specifically on how core elements within the procurement might relate to long-term performance. Thus, this research aims to fill this gap by exploring to what extent and how long-term evaluation criteria are considered in design-build best-value procurement of highway projects. To this end, content analysis was conducted on 100 projects procured between 2009 and 2019 by 19 DOTs across the U.S. The analysis of 365 evaluation criteria found that (1) roughly 11% of them related to long-term performance. (2) The weight given to these criteria in the overall technical proposal was lower than 30%. (3) Sixty-five percent (65%) of long-term evaluation criteria focused on design while 15% related to materials and technology, respectively. The results of this study are a first steppingstone to initiate a deep exploration of the relationship between procurement practices and actual project performance. Currently, with sustainability and life cycle assessments being top concerns in infrastructure projects, this line of research might be of particular interest to DOTs and highway agencies across the U.S. and worldwide.

The purpose of this study was to identify U.S. consumers' preferences for Bibimbap and to determine whether or not Bibimbap can be adopted into the American palate. A total of 214 people tasted a controlled amount of Bibimbap and Gochujang sauce (red chili pepper sauce) and then completed a preference test. Bibimbap was highly rated overall in the areas of appearance, color, smell, and taste. Gochujang sauce was also well-accepted in terms of taste and spiciness. Most of the participants disliked the seaweed and shiitake mushrooms, which means that Bibimbap can improve its garnish taste and aroma by removing them. Further, a more watery sauce was served as foreigners are not familiar with mixing food culture. Therefore, by offering diverse ingredient options, the acceptance of traditional Bibimbap can be increased in the U.S.

The purpose of this study was to examine dietary frequencies among Korean American adolescents in California, including the correlation of acculturation and parental dietary Consumption. This study was drawn from cross-sectional telephone surveys based on data from a larger study of Korean Americans in California using random sampling of residential phone listings. A total of 494 Korean American adolescents, ages 12 through 17, in California were collected with dietary frequencies and acculturation and one parents' demographic and dietary consumption information. Three-quarters of adolescents were classified as 'more acculturated group' into the U.S. society with a lower preference to Korean foods, frequent snacking, and lower consumptions of rice and kimchi. Other quarter of adolescents was classified as 'less acculturated group'. However, the most frequent food items by both groups were rice and kimchi. Fruit and vegetable consumption was associated between adolescents and parents in both groups, but rice and kimchi were associated only among the more-acculturated group. In conclusion, dietary frequencies of Korean American adolescents were influenced by acculturation and parental dietary consumption. These findings should inform future epidemiological researches as well as efforts to enhance the diet of Koreans and other immigrants.
This study deals with a research on Korean American economy and Korean banks operated in California where a large percentage of Korean residents in the U.S. is concentrated. Using date published by U.S. Census and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), quantitative analyses have been performed on the asset, employment, market share and other features of selected Korean American financial institutions. Also, each bank's status of financing and asset management are reviewed through the analysis of its balance sheets. The outcome of analysis on the status of Korean American banks are summarized as follows: First, Korean American banks are shown to be growing to become major banks with equivalent scale as mainstream banks. Second, the recently improved fundamentals of Korean American banks are identified. Third, the operational performances of Korean American banks are verified to be similar to the average of Californian banks.
This paper overviews different exit strategies for the U.S. from the debt-overhang, and analyses their implications for emerging markets and global stability. These strategies are discussed in the context of the debates about secular-stagnation versus debt-overhang, the fiscal theory of the price level, the size of fiscal multipliers, prospects for a multipolar currency system, and historical case studies. We conclude that the reallocation of U.S. fiscal efforts towards infrastructure investment aiming at boosting growth, followed by a gradual tax increase, aiming at reaching a modest primary fiscal surplus over time are akin to an upfront investment in greater long-term global stability. Such a trajectory may solidify the viability and credibility of the U.S. dollar as a global anchor, thereby stabilizing Emerging Markets economies and global growth.
Over the past centuries, industrialization in developed and developing countries has had a negative impact on global warming, releasing $CO_2$ emissions into the Earth's atmosphere. In recent years, the transportation sector, which emits one-third of total $CO_2$ emissions in the United States, has adapted by implementing a climate change action plan to reduce $CO_2$ emissions. Having an environmental policy might be an essential factor in mitigating the man-made global warming threats to protect public health and the coexistent needs of current and future generations; however, to my best knowledge, no research has been conducted in such a context with appropriate statistical validation process to evaluate the effects of climate change policy on $CO_2$ emission reduction in recent years in the U.S. transportation. The empirical findings using an entity fixed-effects model with valid statistical tests show the positive effects of climate change policy on $CO_2$ emission reduction in a state. With all the 49 states joining the climate change action plans, the U.S. transportation sector is expected to reduce its $CO_2$ emissions by 20.2 MMT per year, and for the next 10 years, the cumulated $CO_2$ emission reduction is projected to reach 202.3 MMT, which is almost equivalent to the $CO_2$ emissions from the transportation sector produced in 2012 by California, the largest $CO_2$ emission state in the nation.

This paper presents the maritime education and training at CMA. There are two kinds of Federal Maritime Academies, i.e. U. S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) and U. S. Coast Guard Academy, which are supported by federal government and six State Maritime Academies operated by each state. CMA is a unique campus of the California State University(CSU). A specialized education combining classroom instruction, hands-on experience and professional development prepare students for a successful career in international business and logistics, maritime policy, engineering, technology or in the maritime and transportation industries. All students of CMA, under licensed faculty supervision, learn and train aboard the Training Ship Golden Bear during a two-month training cruise in their first year at CMA. Second-year students participate in a land-based cooperative, or sail on a commercial cruise or the Training Ship GOLDEN BEAR depending on their major. Third-year maritime licensing option students take a final cruise on the training ship, while other students participate in an additional land-based cooperative. In their senior year, students take license exams to complete graduation requirements.

The purpose of analysis of foreign curriculums and textbooks is to aimed to get the implications for the revision of curriculum, publishment of textbooks and teaching mathematics. In this study, Common Core State Standards and its textbooks was analyzed. The U. S. doesn't have the national mathematics curriculum. So, it can be happen some problems: students' lower mathematical achievement, assessment policy, decision of teaching contents, etc. In 2010, Common Core State Standards was developed by states. Furthermore, The California Department of Education reshaped standards: CA-CCSSM. This study analyzed the contents of fraction in CA-CCSSM and its textbooks. Fraction has many concepts and methods and models in teaching process. This study analyzed the equal parts, introducing fraction concept, the types of fraction, equivalent fractions, comparison of fractions. The conclusions are as follows; The equal parts are the important concept of fraction and introduced in geometry area before teaching of fraction. CA-CCSSM aims to understand a fraction as a number on the number line and represent fractions on a number line diagram. There are some similarity and difference in mixed number, fractions as a division and ratio, equivalent fractions and comparison of fractions between Korean curriculum and textbooks and CA-CCSSM.
