겔의 수열합성법에 의한 다공성 구형 $BaTiO_3$ 미분체의 제조 (Manufacture of $BaTiO_3$ Powders by Gel-hydrothermal Method)

  • In this study, spherical $pre-BaTiO_3$ particles are prepared by gelation and aging process in autoclave without catalysts. The (Ba-Ti) gel used as a starting material was prepared by aging mixtures of titanyl acylate with barium acetate aqueous solution([glacial acetic acid (AcOH)]/[titanium isopropoxide (TIP)] 4, [barium acetate]/[TIP] 1) at $45^{\circ}C$ for 48hrs. XRD and SEM results for the (Ba-Ti) gel sample at aging process showed that the gel was formed via aggregation of the fine particles. It seems to be the primary particles of bulk (Ba-Ti) gel amorphous, but the spatial arrangement of barium and titanium in the (Ba-Ti) gel is similar to that in crystalline $BaTiO_3$ particles. From XRD and FT-IR. spectroscopy analysis it was found that the crystal structure of the prepared particles continuously transformed from amorphous to tetragonal as the calcination temperature increased, and crystallized spherical cubic and tetragonal $BaTiO_3$ powder obtained at the very low calcination temperature between $500^{\circ}C$ and $900^{\circ}C$ after 1hrs of heat treatment respectively. According to BET analysis result, final particle have pore structure of ink bottle shape which is produced by aggregation of fine spherical particles with surface area of $280m^2/g$ and average pore size of 130nm.

  • Nanocrystalline $BaTiO_3$ powder could be synthesized by solid-state reaction using the mixture which was prepared by a high energy milling process in a bead mill for $BaCO_3$ and nanocrystalline $TiO_2$ powders mixture. Effect of the milling time on the powder characteristic of the synthesized $BaTiO_3$ powder was investigated. Nanocrystalline $BaTiO_3$ with a particle size of 50 nm was obtained at $800^{\circ}C$. High tetragonal $BaTiO_3$ powder with a tetragonality(=c/a) of 1.009 and a specific surface area of $7.6m^2/g$ was acquired after heat-treatment at $950^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. High energy ball milling was effective in decreasing the reaction temperature and increasing the tetragonality.

TSSG법에 의한 $BaTiO_3$ 단결정 육성 (Growth of $BaTiO_3$ Single Crystals by TSSG Technique)

  • BaTiO3 단결정을 용액의 서냉속도를 달리하면서 TSSG법으로 육성하였으며, 성장된 단결정의 결정외형, 결정 결함, 분역구조 등을 관찰하였다. 0.5℃/hr이 하의 속도로 서 냉함으로써 비교적 등차원적인 큰 단 결정을 육성할 수 있었으며, 성장된 BaTiO3 단결정 은 |111|면이 가장 잘 발달된 외형을 나타내었다. 용 액 냉각속도가 너무 빠르거나 용액내의 수직 온도구 배가 너무 크면 용액이 불안정해지므로, 침상의 Ba6 TiL7040 결정상이 석출된다. 성장된 결정내에 평행 한 쐐기모양의 lamella 분역 집단이 이와 수직하게 진행하는 lamella 분역 집단과 불규칙한 경계를 이루 고 있으며, 이들은 x-ray topography에서 현저한 회 절 명암 차이를 나타낸다. 단결정을 127℃ 이상으로 가열하면 입 방정으로 상전이 된다. 상전이 전단이 이 동할 때 정방정 영역에서는 연속적 분역 재배열이 이루어 지고 입방정 영역에서는 규칙적인 음력변형이 나타나며, BaTiO의 PTF정벽면은 |110|에 대해 약 9°기울어진 면으로 이루어진다.

Structural and Magnetic Properties of LaFeO3-BaTiO3 Solid Solutions

  • Polycrystalline samples of LaFe$O_3$-BaTi$O_3$ were synthesized to examine the structural and magnetic behavior. X-ray diffraction confirmed that the ceramics had tetragonal symmetry with less tetragonal strain (c/a) than BaTi$O_3$. The magnetic hysteresis measured at room temperature suggested that the magnetic nature deviates from that of the parent LaFe$O_3$, which has antiferromagentic with a G-type spin structure. Improved magnetic behavior of the solid solution compound might be due to the increase in the canting angle of the spin. The presence of oxygen vacancies and fluctuating Fe valence, arising from the substitution of $Ba^{2+}$ and $Ti^{4+}$ at the A- and B-sites of the lattice, might contribute to bulk magnetization. The temperature dependent magnetization indicated that magnetization was higher at low temperatures and showed a decreasing trend with increasing temperature to room temperature. The magnetic transition temperature of these samples was 665 K and 743 K for the mixed system and LaFe$O_3$, respectively.

  • La$_2O_3$-변형 BaTi$O_3$의 안정한 결함구조와 단일상 영역을 X-선 회절분석기와 주사전자현미경을 사용하여 연구하였다. La$_2O_3$-변형 BaTi$O_3$의 안정한 결함구조는 La$^{3+}$ 이온이 격자구조내의 Ba$^{3+}$ 이온을 치환하고 Ti빈자리가 전하 불균형을 보상하기 위한 결함으로 생성된 [($Ba^x_{Ba})_{1-2x}(La{\cdot}_{Ba})_{2x}][Ti^x_{Ti})_{1-x/2}(V""_{Ti})_{x/2}]O_3$이다. 안정한 결함구조가 형성되도록 BaTi$O_3$에 La$_2O_3{\cdot}3/2TiO_3$를 혼입할 때 단위격자는 약 3 mol%가 혼입될 때부터 정방정에서 입방정으로 변하였고, 고용한계는 약 14 mol%이었다. La2$O_3{\cdot}3/2TiO_2$를 고용한계 이상으로 혼입할 때는 이차상으로 La_4Ba_2Ti_5O){18}$가 생성되었다. La$_2O_3$-변형 BaTi$O_3$ 조성에서 BaO가 과량 존재하면 소결성이 나쁘지만, Ti$O_2$가 과량으로 존재하면 액상소결에 의하여 소결성이 좋아짐을 확인할 수 있다.

솔-젤 회전 코팅법을 이용한 강유전성 $BaTiO_3$ 박막제조 (Preparation of Ferroelectric $Cr_3C_2$ Thin Film Using Sol-Gel Spin Coating Process)

  • Ferroelectric BaTiO3 thin film was produced using BaTi-ethoxide sol. This sol was prepared from BaTi-ethoxide by a partial hydrolysis with ammonia as a basic catalyst and ethylene glycol as a chelating agent. BaTiO3 thin film was prepared from three continuous spin-coating layers of the sol on bare Si(100) wafer at 2500 rpm followed by pyrolysis at $700^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. After the heat treatment, the film was 0.200$\pm$0.010 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick and its grain size was 0.059 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. On the other hand, electrical properties were measured for BaTiO3 thin film separately prepared on Au-deposited silicon wafer. The dielectric constant and loss of the BaTiO3 thin film at room temperature was 150~160 and 0.04 respectively, which was measured at 10 kHz and oscillation level of 0.1 V. In the measurements of the dielectric properties at high temperatures, it was observed that the capacitance of the thin film increases steeply, while the dielectric loss reaches maximum around 1$25^{\circ}C$, which corresponds a phase transition from tetragonal to cubic BaTiO3.

  • Transparent xBa(La$_{1}$2/Nb$_{1}$2/)O$_{3}$-(1-x)Pb(Zr, Ti)O$_{3}$ (x=8.5, 9.0[mol.%], Zr/Ti=70/30~40/60) ceramics were fabricated by the two-stage sintering method, the electrooptic properties were investigated with Ba(La$_{1}$2/Nb$_{1}$2/)O$_{3}$ content and Zr/Ti composition ratio. Decreasing the Zr/Ti ratio, the electrooptic property was changed from a quadratic electrooptic effect to a linear electrooptic effcet. In the BLN-PZT 9.0/50/50 specimen having the tetragonal structure, the linear electrooptic coefficient had the highest value of 6.01*10$^{-10}$ [m/V] and in the BLN-PZT 9.0/55/45 specimen which located near the MPB region, the quadratic electrooptic coefficient had the highest value of 10.53*10$^{-16}$ [m$^{2}$/V$^{2}$].

$(Ba_{1-x}Pb_x)TiO_3$ 세라믹의 구조와 전기적 특성 (Structure and Electric Properties of $(Ba_{1-x}Pb_x)TiO_3$ Ceramics)

  • The crystal structures and the bonding characteristics in $(Ba_xPb_{1-x})TiO_3$ have been investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis and infrared spectrophotometry. As $Ba^{2+}$ ion in $BaTiO_3$ were substituted by $Pb^{2+}$ ion, the structures were changed to orthorhombic from tetragonal, and also the covalent character in Ti-O bond increased, and then the dielectric constants decreased gradually. In the mixed oxide containing $Pb^{2+}$ ion more than 50%, the change-transfer energy of titanium ion increased.

  • The structural formation of inorganic nanoparticles dispersed in polymer matrices is a key technology for producing advanced nanocomposites with a unique combination of optical, electrical, and mechanical properties. Barium titanate ($BaTiO_3$) nanoparticles are attractive for increasing the refractive index and dielectric constant of polymer nanocomposites. Current synthesis processes for $BaTiO_3$ nanoparticles require expensive precursors or organic solvents, complicated steps, and long reaction times. In this study, we demonstrate a simple and continuous approach for synthesizing $BaTiO_3$ nanoparticles based on a salt-assisted ultrasonic spray pyrolysis method. This process allows the synthesis of $BaTiO_3$ nanoparticles with diameters of 20-50 nm and a highly crystalline tetragonal structure. The optical properties and photocatalytic activities of the nanoparticles show that they are suitable for use as fillers in various nanocomposites.

Magnetic Ordering in (1-x)BaTiO3-xLaFeO3 Solid Solutions

  • Solid solutions between $BaTiO_3$ and $LaFeO_3$ have been prepared through a solid state reaction method. The X-ray diffraction results reveal that $Ba_{1-x}La_xTi_{1-x}Fe_xO_3$ ($0.1\;{\leq}\;x\;{\leq}\;0.7$) compounds have a cubic structure, whereas the parent material $BaTiO_3$ has a tetragonal structure. The magnetization measurements indicate that the materials have a magnetic ordering at room temperature and the magnetic properties of the solid solutions depending on the doping amount of $LaFeO_3$. The origin of magnetic behaviors is believed to be from $Fe^{3+}$ ions.
