  • We present a new low power scan testing and test data compression method for System-On-a-Chip (SOC). The don't cares in unspecified scan vectors are mapped to binary values for low power and encoded by adaptive encoding method for higher compression. Also, the scan-in direction of scan vectors is determined for low power. Experimental results for full-scanned versions of ISCAS 89 benchmark circuits show that the proposed method has both low power and higher compression.

  • This paper presents the integrity evaluation method of the windings in cast resin transformers using vertical thermal distribution analysis. The method is to compare the temperature distribution in a sound condition specimen with that in the failure condition specimen layer-shorted by accelerated testing. The temperature distribution was acquisited by a infrared thermography system, and the Arrhenius equation was adopted to the accelerated testing. The proposed method may be available to detect the failures in cast resin transformers.

  • In this paper, we present a time domain combined field integral equation (TD-CFIE) formulation to analyze the transient electromagnetic response from three-dimensional dielectric objects. The solution method in this paper is based on the method of moments (MoM) that involves separate spatial and temporal testing procedures. A set of the RWG (Rao, Wilton, Glisson) functions Is used for spatial expansion of the equivalent electric and magnetic current densities and a combination of RWG and its orthogonal component is used as spatial testing. We also investigate spatial testing procedures for the TD-CFIE to select the proper testing functions that are derived from the Laguerre polynomials. These basis functions are also used for temporal testing. Use of this temporal expansion function characterizing the time variable enables one to handle the time derivative terms in the integral equation and decouples the space-time continuum in an analytic fashion. Numerical results computed by the proposed formulation are presented and compared with the solutions of the frequency domain combined field integral equation (FD-CFIE).

  • The power IT project "Development of Prototype for Advanced Substation Automation System based on the Digital Control Technology", is going on how to perform the verification of a IEC 61850 based Merging Unit for development of the full Substation Automation system from station bus to process bus. the testing method that this paper suggests, is including the conformance testing of IEC 61850 communication services and transmission functions of digital sampled values such as current and voltage, and referring to IEC 61850 conformance testing of IED. And finally, the paper shows a test system for the Merging Unit.

  • Mutation testing is known as a very useful technique for measuring the effectiveness of a test data set and finding weak points of the test set. An equivalent mutant degrades the effectiveness of mutation testing. Elimination of equivalent mutants is a very important problem in mutation testing. In this paper, we proposed kinds of methods for detecting class-level equivalent mutants. These methods judge the equivalency of mutants through structural informations and behavioral information of the original program and mutants using static analysis. We found that our approach can detect not a few of equivalent mutants and expected that the cost of mutation testing can be saved considerably.

  • Testing of order-restricted alternative hypothesis in $2{\times}k$ contingency tables can be applied to various fields of medicine, sociology, and business administration. Most testing methods have been developed based on a large sample theory. In the case of a small sample size or unbalanced sample size, the Type I error rate of the testing method (based on a large sample theory) is very different from the target point of 5%. In this paper, the exact testing method is introduced in regards to the testing of an order-restricted alternative hypothesis in categorical data (particularly if a small sample size or extreme unbalanced data). Power and exact p-value are calculated, respectively.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the computer input frequency of blood glucose self testing in type2 diabetic patients, for three months. Method: 39 participants were recruited from the endocrinology outpatient department of a tertiary care hospital in an urban city. The computer input frequencies were measured by patients' log in and input of http://www.biodang.com. Glycosylated haemoglobin was determined by a high performance liquid chromatography technique and fasting blood glucose was analyzed by the glucose oxidase method. Diabetes knowledge was measured by a 19 item diabetes knowledge test. Results: The computer input frequency of before breakfast blood glucose was 33.5 for three months. The total blood glucose input frequency tended to be lower in female, aged patients, middle school graduates, those who have no spouse and job, those who have no insulin treatment, obese subjects, and hyperglycemia patients, than in their counterparts. The diabetic knowledge was positively correlated with the computer input frequency of blood glucose self testing. Conclusion: An educational program should be developed to increase the computer input frequency of blood glucose self testing in type2 diabetic patients.

  • Recently small punch creep testing (or miniature disc bend creep test) has received much attention through European collaborative research projects. This method was considered as a substitute for the conventional creep rupture testing by which the residual creep life is measured from the specimen taken out from serviced components of high temperature plants. It would be beneficial if the material creep properties such as power law creep constants as well as the creep rupture life can be measured from the small punch creep test. In this paper a method of assessing creep constants from the small punch creep testing is proposed. Finite element analyses were performed to investigate evolution of stress and strain rate at the weakest locations of the small punch creep specimen. Elastic-plastic-secondary creep analyses were carried out. The estimation equations for creep constants by the small punch creep testing are proposed based on the finite analysis results. Small punch creep tests were also performed with 9Cr steel and the accuracy of the proposed equation was verified by the experimental results.

  • Bifurcation refers to wye division of penstock to divide the flow symmetrically or unsymmetrically into two units of turbine for maintaining economical, technical and geological substrates. Particularly, water shows irrelevant behavior when there is a sudden change in flow direction, which results into the transition of the static and dynamic behavior of the flow. Hence, special care and design considerations are required both hydraulically and structurally. The transition induced losses and extra stresses are major features to be examined. The research on design and analysis of bifurcation is one of the oldest topics related to R&D of hydro-mechanical components for hydropower plants. As far as the earlier approaches are concerned, the hydraulic designs were performed based on graphical data sheet, head loss considerations and the mechanical analysis through simplified beam approach. In this paper, the multi prospect approach for design of Bifurcation, incorporating the modern day's tools and technology is identified. The hydraulic design of bifurcation is a major function of dynamic characteristics of the flow, which is performed with CFD analysis for minimum losses and better hydraulic performances. Additionally, for the mechanical design, a simplified conventional design method as pre-estimation and Finite Element Method for a relevant result projections were used.
