This study was carried out to reduce the lateral vibration of high-speed electric multiple units. In the study, the high-speed electric multiple unit prototype (HEMU-430X) has a high lateral vibration at low equivalent conicity regardless of the wheel profiles (XP55, GV40, S1002). As wheel wear progresses and the equivalent conicity increases, the lateral vibration tends to decrease. The reason is that a combination of the suspension characteristics causes the body and bogie to resonate at a frequency of 1.4 Hz when the equivalent conicity is low, resulting in body hunting. An investigation of the lateral vibration of overseas high-speed trains showed that a decrease in the hydraulic stiffness of the yaw damper could improve the vibration. The series stiffness of the yaw damper is a combination of the hydraulic stiffness and elastic joint. In this study, an attempt was made to improve the lateral vibration by lowering the stiffness of the elastic joint. The series stiffness of the adjusted yaw damper was approximately 60% compared to the original one. The on track test results showed improvement in the lateral vibration for both running directions. The vibration reduction method of this study can be used for EMU-250 and EMU-320 in future commercial operations.
The location-based service is emerging again to the public attention. The location recognition environment up-to-now has been studied with its focus only on a person, an object or a moving object. However, this study proposes a location recognition model that serves to recognize and track, in real time, multiple passengers in a moving vehicle. Identifying the locations of passengers can be classified into two classes: one is to use the high price terminal with GPS function, and the other is to use the economic price compact terminal without GPS function. Our model enables the simple compact terminal to provide effective location recognition under the on-boarding situation by transmitting messages through an interface device and sensor networks for a vehicle equipped with GPS. This technology reduces transmission traffic after detecting the condition of a vehicle (being parked or running), because it does not require transmission/receiving of information on the locations of passengers who are confined in a vehicle when the vehicle is running. Also it extends battery life by saving power consumption of the compact terminal. Hence, we carried out experiments to verify its serviceability by materializing the efficient tracking system for passengers with the detection algorithm of a stopping vehicle proposed in this study. Moreover, about 200 experiments using the system designed with this technology proved successful recognition on on-boarding and alighting of passengers with the maximum transmission distance of 12 km. In addition to this, the running recognition tests showed the test with the detection algorithm of a stopping vehicle has reduced transmission traffic by 41.6% compared to the algorithm without our model.

TiN coating on tool steel has been widely used for the improvement of durability of tools. In this work, radical nitriding(RN) is carried out on SKD61 at $450^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours in the ammonia gas pressure $2.7{\times}10^3\;Pa$. The TiN coating is carried out by arc ion plating(AIP) with the process parameters: arc power 150 A, bias voltage -50V, coating time 40 minutes and nitrogen gas pressure $4{\times}10^3\;Pa$. Hardness, elastic modulus, friction coefficient and adhesion of TiN coating on substrates of both TiN/SKD61 and TiN/RN SKD61 coatings are investigated comparatively. The primary crystalline faces of TiN surface are(200) and(111) for TiN/SKD61 and TiN/RN SKD61 respectively. In addition to the primary phase, Fe phase exists in TiN/SKD61 coating, but not in TIN/RN SKD61. The hardness of TiN/RN SKD61 is about 700 Hv, 250 Hv(56%) higher than that of TiN/SKD61 at the near interface of TiN and substrates. At the TiN surface, hardness of TiN/RN SKD61 is 2,149 Hv, 71 Hv(3%) higher than that of TiN/SKD61. The elastic modulus of TiN coating is improved to 26.7 GPa(6%) by radical nitriding. The adhesion is improved by the RN coating showing no spalling. buckling and chipping on the scratch test track which are shown on the non-RN TiN/SKD61.

Cr-Si-Al-N coating with different Si content were deposited by hybrid physical vapor deposition (PVD) method consisting of unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering and arc ion plating (AIP). The deposition temperature was $300^{\circ}C$, and the gas ratio of $Ar/N_2$ were 9:1. The CrSi alloy and aluminum targets used for arc ion plating and sputtering process, respectively. Si content of the CrSi alloy targets were varied with 1 at%, 5 at%, and 10 at%. The phase analysis, composition and microstructural analysis performed using x-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) including energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), respectively. All of the coatings grown with textured CrN phase (200) plane. The thickness of the Cr-Si-Al-N films were measured about $2{\mu}m$. The friction coefficient and removal rate of films were measured by a ball-on-disk test under 20N load. The friction coefficient of all samples were 0.6 ~ 0.8. Among all of the samples, the removal rate of CrSiAlN (10 at% Si) film shows the lowest values, $4.827{\times}10^{-12}mm^3/Nm$. As increasing of Si contents of the CrSiAlN coatings, the hardness and elastic modulus of CrSiAlN coatings were increased. The morphology and composition of wear track of the films was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy, respectively. The surface energy of the films were obtained by measuring of contact angle of water drop. Among all of the samples, the CrSiAlN (10 at% Si) films shows the highest value of the surface energy, 41 N/m.
According to Sagong and Paik (2003), the side resistance of rock socketed drilled shafts is affected by rock quality, types, uniaxial compressive strength, and confining stress. Their approach based upon the Hoek-Brown criterion provides reasonable predictions of the side resistance. In this study, we propose an equation to calculate the side resistance considering size effects of the shafts and investigate the influence of drilled shaft diameter on the side resistance. A new method employs the modified Hoek-Brown criterion together with an empirical size effect of rock core. From the previous field tests, 12 pile load test results were collected and compared with prediction calculated from the equation proposed in this study. In a given condition, similar results between measurement and estimate are observed. From the parametric study on the GSI, confining stress, uniaxial compressive of intact rock and pile size, it is shown that uniaxial compressive strength is the most influential parameter on the side resistance. Though pile size shows the least influence on the resistance, the size effect is apparent as rock quality increases.
In the M&S filed, The Battle Lab is available for acquisition, design, development tool, validation test, and training in the weapon system of development process. Recently, the Battle Lab in the military of Korea is still in an early stage, in spite of importance of battle lab construction. In the environment of network centric warfare, a practical use of the M&S which is connecting live, virtual and constructive model can be applied to all field of System Engineering process. It is necessary thar the Battle Lab is not restricted by time and space, and is possible for the technical implementation. In this paper, to guarantee the interoperability of live and virtual simulation, virtual simulators connect live simulators by using the tactical data link. To guarantee the interoperability of virtual and constructive simulation, both virtual simulators and constructive simulators use the RTI which is the standard tool of M&S. We propose the System that constructed the Air Defence Battle Lab. In case of the approach of target tracks, The Air Defence Battle Lab is the system for the engagement based on a command of an upper system in the engagement weapon system. Constructive simulators which are target track, missile, radar, and launcher simulator connect virtual simulators which are MCRC, battalion, and fire control center simulators using the RPR-FOM 1.0 that is a kind of RTI FOM. The interoperability of virtual simulators and live simulators can be guaranteed by the connection of the tactical data links which are Link-11B and ATDL-1.
It is essential to lighten the weight of switch girders in order to reduce their costs of manufacturing and make it easier to use them in construction. Lightening the weight of switch is also important to the Maglev 3-way switches system, however, the design variables should be considered very carefully if lightening is to be applied to the system, because these variables are vitally related to the levitation stability. Because Urban Maglev trains have a structure in which train bogie wraps around the guiderail, the adjustment of a girder's height is a possible way to reduce the weight. The safety of the application of this concept is ensured by repeated experiments in a test bed, however, due to a lack of space and budget limits, the design parametric study for the system model can substitute for actual application. The purpose of this paper is to study the design parameters that are concerned with levitation stability while a Maglev train is running on the Maglev 3-way system depending on the weight of the switch girders. In this study, switch girder weight is reduced by adjustment of girder height and girders are and modeled as a flexible body. The effect of the adjustment of girder height on the levitation stability can be analyzed by comparing the velocity of the train when it passes the switch girders, with the lateral gap, and the levitation gap which are obtained from the co-simulation of the Maglev train's dynamics model and flexible switching system. The results of this research will be used to design a Maglev switch.

The most important point when we engage on waterway dredging work is supplying safe navigational passage to the vessels underway by narrowing dredge work area and removing submerged dangers. In order to meet this end it is necessary to use auxiliary equipment for shifting actively and mooring and adopt automation of dredging work by integrating information on real time position, dredging depth, and work information. The dredger with a spud control system in this study, by the way, is able to employed on continuous dredging work with the narrowest working area allowing wide and safe passages to vessels underway, by moving the dredger to the working zone with the spud controlled automatically. Furthermore, it has been improved definitely compared with the existing dredging process management system such that it shows the track of spud and working depth on the electronic navigation chart of window, together with the final outcome of dredging work. The test dredging work at the entrance of Busan North Port for system evaluation showed that actual working time available was twice of the one by the existing anchor system, and that it reduced $38\%$ of time for preparation work and one man power.
The purpose of this study was to develop a standardized preschool oral health education program as one of educational media and to apply it to preschool education. It's ultimately meant to help improve the oral health education policy of the nation toward young children and to provide multiple information on that. The subjects in this study were 250 young children who were at the age of 7 and attended kindergartens in the city of S. To evaluate an oral health education program prepared in the study, the selected young children were taught by using it, and a survey was conducted twice before offering education and three weeks after it to assess their knowledge. Besides, their patient hygiene performance was tested. For data handling, SPSS program was utilized, and in order to see if there would be any changes in their oral health behaviors, statistical data on percentage were obtained and crosstab was employed. To track any possible additional changes in their relevant knowledge and Simplified Oral Hygiene Index, t-test was implemented. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. As for changes in oral health behaviors, there were significant differences in tooth brushing time(p<0.05), tooth brushing method(p<0.01) and toothbrush keeping method(p<0.001) between before and after the education. 2. Regarding changes in oral health knowledge, there was a significant gap between before and after the education(p<0.001). In detail, their knowledge about the cause of dental caries(p<0.05), the right choice of toothbrush(p<0.001) and toothbrushing after meals(p<0.01) became significantly different. 3. There was no gap in patient hygiene performance index between before and after the education. 4. To boost the effect of oral health education on kindergarteners, it seems necessary to give a lecture on oral health, to demonstrate tooth brushing by using dntiform, and to offer instruction by utilizing disclosing solution. 5. Repeated education should be provided on a regular basis by preparing standardized teaching plans tailored to the characteristics of kindergarteners, and a wide variety of teaching materials that could be easy to understand, authentic and provide motivation to them should be developed.

This paper is a follow-up to previous papers entitled, "Development of Tunnel-Environment Monitoring System and Its Installation" I [1] and II [2]. The target tunnel of these studies is the Solan Tunnel, which is a loop-type, single-track, 16.7-km-long tunnel located in mountainous terrain and passing through the Baekdudaegan mountain range. It is an ordinary railway tunnel designed for both freight and passenger trains. We analyzed the environmental conditions of the tunnel using temperature and humidity data recorded over approximately one year. The data were recorded using the Tunnel Rough Environment Measuring System (TREMS), which measures environmental data in subway and high-speed train tunnels and is installed in three locations inside the tunnel. Previous studies analyzed environmental conditions inside tunnels located in or near a city, whereas the tunnel in this study is located in a mountainous area. The tunnel conditions were compared with those measured outside the tunnel for each month. Hourly changes during summer and winter periods were also analyzed, and the environmental conditions at different locations inside the tunnel were compared. The results are widely applicable in studies on the thermal environment and air quality of tunnels, as well as for computer analysis of tunnel airflow such as tunnel ventilation and fire simulations.
