Impermeable Standards for the Concrete Bottom of Dikes for Crude Oil Storage Tanks (원유저장탱크 방류벽의 콘크리트 바닥재 불침투성 세부기준 연구)

  • The bottom of dikes must be kept impermeable to control hazardous chemicals spilled from storage tanks. Currently, insufficient related chemical control laws lead to a possibility to spread through the bottom. Generally, due to the high cost of installation and periodical maintenance, many businesses prefer to install the bottom with general concrete. But, since the impermeability of concrete is dependent on the kind of materials and chemical reaction, all concrete cannot be considered as impermeable material. Thus, it is necessary to make the installation standards of the dike bottom clear in order to avoid the argument over the impermeability and prevent the chemical accident. This study has suggested the standards of impermeable concrete by conducting 7-day exposure test to crude oil with the pilot dikes. The results have showed that the standards have the better impermeable performance compared with the germany standard, which have been penetrated at the maximum penetration depth of 1.9 cm. This study is expected to contribute to both the risk reduction of penetrating into the bottom and the cost reduction of spending to make the bottom of dikes impermeable.

  • Recently, there has been a growing global interest in environmental conservation, and the field of electric power equipment has been working to become more environment-friendly. Accordingly the 154[kV] low noise transformer is developed through the research. The low noise transformer decreases the audible noise level but the low noise transformer has several changes in the increase of weight and volume and the application of rubber damper. Therefore it is necessary to inspect the test, transportation, installation and operation about field application. In this paper, we investigate the standards of the audible noise level, the weight and volume of the transportation, the installation space and operation in order for effective field application.

  • Sudden earthquake is changing national energy stratagem for future energy resource. In case Germany, current nuke power station will be shut down with several decades. Newly constructed build in Japan must have photovoltaic system as a obligations.. As a long-term sustainable energy one, PV should give confidence to customers up to more than 20 years. Today, IEC 61215 and IEC 61646 standards are representative one for ensuring performance and safety of PV module. But it is still needed to develop more realistic test method. For example, if we think about extreme condition like desert and North Pole, the temperature condition describe in test standards can have little effect on life time expectation of PV module. Installation speed of PV system is very high, but establishing test standards are very complex and not easy. So in this paper, I tried to open the long-term test method for PV module to ensure 25 year's old life time. It is just starting point of PV related long-term test methods. The specific and technical explanation will be shown in the following paper in detail.

  • The important consideration in laboratory designing and construction of the artificial pollution testing facilities including 300kV, 1800kVA AC test system, which enable to test and evaluate the UHV dielectric performance of power insulators up to transmission class, has been dealt in this paper. To evaluate the performance characteristics against contamination for various power installation, especially for the insulators and kinds of bushings, brief investigation and an analysis of test objects and related international codes and standards have been conducted. With the special consideration concerning other matters in designing of these testing facilities have been described with the fixed ratings and references.

  • Many people think that Electric Vehicles(EVs) is the best method to resolve the problems of running out of fossil fuels. But EVs take long time for charging. So, EVs with battery swapping systems(EVBS) are developed to resolve this problem. Nonetheless, EVBS is not spreaded widely because the method of durability test in couplers is not defined. In this study, the evaluation method of durability test in couplers is defined by some standards and the measurement uncertainty is used to increase the reliability of EV couplers.

  • Normally, multiple socket-outlet is manufactured with soldered, welded permanent connection (termination). Because this procedure is very non-environmental and requires many labor forces, many companies skip this process. To solve this these problems, this research had to design permanent joint type multiple socket-outlet, develop safer multiple socket-outlet than is sold in markets. Progressing this research, we took 3 steps. First, we had to design device for fixing a frame suitable for multiple socket-outlet. Second, this multiple socket-outlet must pass fundamental standards through international standard (IEC 60884-1) and Korean standard (K 60884-1) tests. Third, it had to pass both several mechanical and electrical tests which is more strict than fundamental standards and vibration and impact tests following KS standards for enhancing its safety. After finishing 3 steps, we could obtain objective and fair data, develop environmental permanent joint type multiple socket-outlet without soldering crimped connection.

Study on Optimized Manual Development and Optimum Lighting System within Luminance-based Tunnel (휘도기반 터널내 운전자 적정조명시스템 개발 연구)

  • The purposes of this research and development are as follows: first, to provide pleasant driving environments inside tunnels; second, to improve the current illumination environments lacking in diffusion luminance meters to meet tunnel lighting standards; and, third, to reduce the consumption of tunnel lighting energy accounting for approximately 65% of tunnel maintenance costs because of inadequate visual environments and tunnel operations. Further details are listed below. Firstly, an image luminance meter for tunnels that can implement the L20-method which is a tunnel luminance method that follows the international standards of CIE88, which was developed in order to improve and change the existing illumination-based tunnel lighting operation system to a luminance-based system. (The margin of error of below 5% according to the results of a test by an authorized agency and field test). Secondly, early illumination control is possible since the lighting control system that can be operated based on luminance enables interlocking control of the inside and outside of a tunnel using ethernet communication. Thirdly, guidelines for field application of the system are proposed. In addition, the luminance inducers of tunnels are found and the reflexibility of each facility that may reduce luminance of the boundaries is also proposed. Fourthly, as a result of a test bed, power consumption of luminance-based lighting operations decreased by 15.6% compared to illumination-based operations. Applying the feedback controls and maintenance factors of internal/external luminance meters, it reduced by 36.4%. Therefore, we became able to provide a luminance-based lighting operation system that complies with tunnel lighting design standards and provides a visual environment for drivers.

A Study on the Measurement of the Winding Resistance Influences the Efficiency Evaluation of 3phase Induction Motors (삼상유도전동기 권선저항 측정이 효율 산출에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • 3phase induction motor consumes 40% of national electric power. so It is one of the most important electric device for the national power policy. The efficiency measurement is carried out by IEC standards. After the temperature rise test, It's difficult to measure the winding resistance immediately. because of inertia and power cut-off time. Therefore, IEC standards suggest the measurement time. But during the measurement time, the winding temperature cools down. It causes the value of winding resistance is variable. Several conditions which possibly occurred by the measurement time of IEC 60034-1 are suggested. and The efficiency evaluation of 3phase induction motors is carried out by IEC 60034-2-1 with the several conditions. As the results, we find out the winding resistance rapidly goes down within 15 sec. so It proves that the winding resistance should be measured within 15 sec. for the efficiency evaluating of 3phase induction motor.

Structural Performance Evaluation of System Scaffolding for Elevator Installation Work (엘리베이터 설치 작업용 시스템 비계의 구조 성능 평가)

  • This study performed a structural performance evaluation of a system scaffolding for elevator installation work developed in previous studies. The structural performance was evaluated via a structural test conducted to apply the working load specified in the design standard. The deflection of the horizontal member and the stress of each member constituting the system scaffolding were measured. Consequently, the structural safety evaluation including structural behavior and required performance was performed using the deflection and stresses measured from the structural test. The structural test and safety evaluation results based on the heavy working load corresponding to the design load indicated that the deflection, which is the performance criterion of the horizontal member, did not exceed the allowable value. Further, each member's stress, which is a safety evaluation indicator, did not exceed the allowable strength for both horizontal and vertical members with bending behavior and fordable bracing with tensile behavior, while also satisfying the required safety factor. In addition, the results confirmed the safety against deformation, partial damage, and destruction owing to excessive and maximum load. Therefore, the system scaffolding developed in this study satisfies both the structural performance and safety required by the design standards; thus, it can be applied to elevator installation work sites.
