As illegal distribution of the terrestial DTV broadcast program occurs very frequently in on-line, the needs to protect broadcast program have increased. In this paper, a new approach to implement a system for terrestial DTV broadcast program protection based on program protection information(PPI) is proposed. In our approach, the broadcast program is recorded with encryption according to redistribution condition of the PPI and packaged into a file with key information and PPI together. And we also define a set of domain protocol for supporting user fair-use of broadcast program. In the proposed system, copy control can also be provided by process of home domain management. Implementation results show that our system can protect broadcast programs with efficiency and can support conditional distribution within home domain in order to satisfy user fair-use.

Era of multi-channel digital multimedia on the Internet, cable, satellite and IPTV and the growth of new media such as terrestrial broadcast advertising with the poor rating has also dropped sharply. In this situation, terrestrial TV suggesting the introduction of in-program advertising appearing comments. In this study, the introduction of these intermediate advertising the public and professional awareness about the issue by comparing the introduction of in-program advertising feasibility was done in the purpose. Studies on terrestrial TV suggesting the introduction of in-program advertising and public opinion about the differences in perception between experts is high. The introduction of in-program advertising validity of these data for future in-program advertising to provide a basis for enforcement is expected to give.

This research aimed at providing the direction for future improvement of broadcast subtitle design by identifying the user perception on broadcast subtitles of Terrestrial DMB. First, we contemplated on the existing research about broadcast subtitles. As a result, we found out that broadcast subtitle plays an essential role when watching a program and that the minimization of letters, clear fonts and color arrangement, rearrangement of components were identified as main factors that increase readability. However, the terrestrial DMB user evaluation on image quality, composition, color and brightness was not that positive. In addition, the evaluation on the readability of broadcast subtitle, information transmission, subtitle composition, letter font, number and size of letter was more negative. Developing a subtitle design which considers user convenience and suits terrestrial DMB screens in aspects of broadcast subtitle form and composition, limit of information, clearness and size of the letter is required.

A dispute over price for retransmitting terrestrial channels between Terrestrial Television Systems and Cable TV System Operator(SO)s has been underway up to now since 2007 and expected to last unless there is a measure of extraordinary countermeasures. Thus, in this paper, we present a scheme for calculating the reasonable price on retransmitting terrestrial channels. Re-transmission price calculation scheme is presented in two ways. One is to calculate the price for the extent to which Terrestrial broadcasters and Cable broadcasters contribute, and the other is to calculate the price for terrestrial channels retransmitted by applying the method of Cable TV PP program fee basis. In addition, on profit-sharing scheme and criteria for program fee we present two ways of subscription, which are flat sum system and fixed rate system.

In accordance with the digital broadcast data converted, the number of the service provider, and content channel for interaction with the viewer has increased exponentially. Electronic program guide in such a multi-channel time(Electronic Program Guide, EPG) is an essential requirement, and also from day to day EPG generation technique according to the user's requirements. But the current situation is getting EPG to viewers outside for reasons such as absence, lack of accurate information, organizing techniques utilized lack of standard systems. In this article, we describe the State and EPG solution to the problem of these terrestrial stations. This, the EPG information and the actual broadcast time of the terrestrial channel 6 using a ground wave receiving method for a direct comparison was studied the problems and the average error of the current start. Also this research perform to enhance accuracy of EPG information.

The space for production, such as studios and control rooms, is a space for TV program production, which is the main function of broadcast. A block planning for such space should be carefully designed, because it can significantly affect the efficiency of production, as well as future productivity and the development and expandability of production. From the results of comparative analysis of 7 local terrestrial broadcasters built since the late 1990s, this study will. propose an ideal block planning for the future construction of local terrestrial broadcasters. Also, the results can be used a basic data when constructing new buildings for local broadcasters.

This study deals with the effects of the extension of terrestrial TV VOD holdback on the viewing behavior focusing on IPTV & digital cable TV. And this study presents the implication by analyzing a time series trend of the digital media service. Thus researcher has analyzed the VOD performance trend of IPTV & digital cable TV, based on the real data of media player's internal fact sheet. First, researcher confirmed that the repetition of the peak value goes to January and August seasonally. Also, it was confirmed that the viewing rate of terrestrial broadcasting companies is affected by the hit drama program. And researcher confirmed that the terrestrial VOD, movie and kids VOD, and terrestrial VOD purchases is falling down by analyzing a time series relationship. Terrestrial broadcasting companies did an extension of the holdback for the purpose of trying to increase the viewership of the broadcast, but it was confirmed that it was reduced both purchasing desire VOD viewing and viewing of the broadcast audience rather. Thus the researcher expect the customer familiar policy of media players in the future.

지상파DTV 방송프로그램의 온라인 상의 불법적인 배포가 활발하게 일어남에 따라서, 지상파DTV 방송프로그램에 대한 보호를 위한 여러 가지 조치가 시도되고 있다. 국내에서는 TTA를 중심으로 ATSC의 RC 기술자를 기반으로 한 방송프로그램 보호 기술 규격이 제정되었으며, 이를 기반으로 한 수신기에서의 방송프로그램 보호에 대한 표준화가 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 방송프로그램 보호신호(Program Protection Information: PPI)에 기반한 지상파 방송프로그램 보호 방법에 대해서 소개한다. 제안하는 방법에서는 방송프로그램에 함께 포함된 PPI 정보의 재배포 조건에 따라, 방송프로그램을 암호화되어 저장한다. 사용자의 홈도메인을 기반으로 사적복제를 지원하기 위해, 해당 방송프로그램을 복호화 하기 위한 인증 정보는 도메인 정보를 기반으로 방송프로그램과 같이 패키징 된다. 본 논문에서 제안한 지상파 방송프로그램 보호방법은 방송프로그램을 보호할 뿐 아니라, 사용자의 사적이용을 지원하기 위한 홈도메인 기반의 제한적인 배포 기능을 제공한다.

본 논문에서는 ATSC 기반 국내 지상파 DTV 방송신호를 대상으로 ATSC A/65c(Program and System Information Protocol; PSIP) 및 A/57b(Content Identification and Labeling for ATSC Transport) 표준규격 기반의 방송프로그램ID 규격을 제안한다. 특히, 현재 방송사 내부적으로 운영되고 있는 콘텐츠 식별관리 방식의 독자성을 유지하고, 지상파방송 서비스 환경의 특수성을 반영한 지상파 방송프로그램 식별정보인 방송프로그램ID 구조를 제시한다. 또한 방송프로그램ID 삽입/추출기의 구현 및 실험과정을 통하여, 국내 지상파 DTV 방송 송수신규격과의 정합 및 방송프로그램ID의 기능 검증을 수행한다.

The paper describes MPEG-2 encoder system developed by ETRI. The encoder system consists of video encoder, audio encoder and program multiplexer. The system can be used as an SDTV encoder as well as a sub-picture encoding module of an HDTV encoder. In order to reduce the hardware size and increase the system reliability, most parts of the MPEG-2 encoding algorithm are implemented with ASIC chips except the rate control part. The developed system is compliant with MPEG-2 and ATSC.
