  • The global warming because of the CO2 emission and solution about this emerge as the international enviroment problem. Particularly, it is the absolutely it is needed for reducing the CO2 in the cement industry and harmful material actual condition. And the construction of home and abroad and material manufacturers tries for the technology development for the carbon dioxide and harmful material reduction which the portland cement in manufacture is usually emitted along with the increase of concerns about the environment-friendly concrete and panel. Therefore, in this research, the compressive strength of the inorganic binder and flexural strength tries to be measured in order to draw the inappropriate high temperature cure time of the ternary system inorganic binder using the blast furnace slag, red mud, silica fumewhich is the industrial byproduct with the cement substitute material, and etc.

  • Recently, as the policy of state that it is the low carbon green growth is promoted, the effort for reducing the CO2 gas generation ejected from the construction industry in the cement production is continued. That is, the method using the mineral admixtures including the silica fume and red mud, silica fume and etc. it is the industrial byproduct with the method solving the exhaustion problem of the environmental contamination settlement and natural resources, the great quantity as the cement substitute material is examined. Accordingly, in this research, the strength characteristic of the curing body differentiating the curing method of the ternary system inorganic binder using the blast furnace slag and red mud, silica fume and etc. as the cement substitute material tried to be examined.

Effect of CQ-amine ratio on the degree of conversion in resin monomers with binary and ternary photoinitiation systems

  • Objectives: This study evaluated the effect of camphorquinone (CQ)-amine ratio on the C=C double bond conversion of resins with binary and ternary photoinitiation systems. Materials and Methods: Two monomer mixtures (37.5 Bis-GMA/37.5 Bis- EMA/25 TEGDMA) with binary systems (CQ/DMAEMA in weight ratio, group A [0.5/1.0] and B [1.0/0.5]) and four mixtures with ternary system (CQ/OPPI/DMAEMA, group C [0.1/1.0/0.1], D [0.1/1.0/ 0.2], E [0.2/1.0/0.1] and F [0.2/1.0/0.2]) were tested: 1 : 2 or 2 : 1 CQ-amine ratio in binary system, while 1 : 1 ratio was added in ternary system. The monomer mixture was cured for 5, 20, 40, and 300 sec with a Demetron 400 curing unit (Demetron). After each exposure time, degree of conversion (DC) was estimated using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrophotometer (Nicolet 520, Nicolet Instrument Corp.). The results were analyzed by ANOVA followed by Scheffe test, with p = 0.05 as the level of significance. Results: DC (%) was expressed in the order of curing time (5, 20, 40, and 300 sec). Group A ($14.63{\pm}10.42$, $25.23{\pm}6.32$, $51.62{\pm}2.69$, $68.52{\pm}2.77$); Group B ($4.04{\pm}6.23$, $16.56{\pm}3.38$, $37.95{\pm}2.79$, $64.48{\pm}1.21$); Group C ($16.87{\pm}5.72$, $55.47{\pm}2.75$, $60.83{\pm}2.07$, $68.32{\pm}3.31$); Group D ($23.77{\pm}1.64$, $61.05{\pm}1.82$, $65.13{\pm}2.09$, $71.87{\pm}1.17$); Group E ($28.66{\pm}2.92$, $56.68{\pm}1.33$, $60.66{\pm}1.17$, $68.78{\pm}1.30$); Group F ($39.74{\pm}6.31$, $61.07{\pm}2.58$, $64.22{\pm}2.29$, $69.94{\pm}2.15$). Conclusion: All the monomers with ternary photoinitiation system showed higher DC than the ones with binary system, until 40 sec. Concerning about the effect of CQ-amine ratio on the DC, group A converted into polymer more than group B in binary system. However, there was no significant difference among groups with ternary system, except group C when cured for 5 sec only.

  • In this paper, we present encoders and decoders with the two kinds of ternary Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem(BCH) codes in the most basic ternary code system from among multiple-valued code systems. One is the random-triple-error-correcting ternary BCH(26,14) code for sequential data, the other is random-triple -error-correcting ternary BCH (26,13) code. The encoders and the decoders realized are verified by experiment. Amount of the (26,13) decoder's hardware is about 50% of the one of the (26,14) decoder's one.

Mathematical model of strength and porosity of ternary blend Portland rice husk ash and fly ash cement mortar

  • This paper presents a mathematical model for strength and porosity of mortars made with ternary blends of ordinary Portland cement (OPC), ground rice husk ash (RHA) and classified fly ash (FA). The mortar mixtures were made with Portland cement Type I containing 0-40% FA and RHA. FA and RHA with 1-3% by weight retained on a sieve No. 325 were used. Compressive strength and porosity of the blended cement mortar at the age of 7, 28 and 90 days were determined. The use of ternary blended cements of RHA and FA produced mixes with good strength and low porosity of mortar. A mathematical analysis and two-parameter polynomial model were presented for the strength and porosity estimation with FA and RHA contents as parameters. The computer graphics of strength and porosity of the ternary blend were also constructed to aid the understanding and the proportioning of the blended system.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the lead-bismuth-sodium ternary system which a basis of the Dittmer method as a part of "the fundamental study of pyrometallurgical debismuthizing of lead". Thermodynamic properties of each liquid Pb-Bi, Pb-Na binaries as well as liquid Pb-Bi-Na ternary solution were measured by e.m.f. of these concentration cells, and those of each component were also determined. Furthermore, iso-activity lines including Pb rich side composition of Pb-Bi-Na ternary solution were determined. The relationship between those thermodynamic characteristics and tendency of intermetallic compound formation was discussed through the above experiments.

  • TiC-$TiB_2$-SiC system was a ternary eutectic, whose eutectic composition was 34TiC-$22TiB_2$-44SiC (mol%). TiC-$TiB_2$-SiC ternary eutectic composite were synthesized by a floating zone method using TiC, $TiB_2$ and SiC powders as starting materials. The TiC-$TiB_2$-SiC eutectic composite showed a lamellar texture. TiC(022), $TiB_2(010)$ and SiC(111) of the eutectic composite were perpendicular to the growth direction. TiC-$TiB_2$-SiC ternary eutectic composite had specific relationship among the crystal planes: TiC[011]//$TiB_2[010]$//SiC[112], TiC(200)//$TiB_2$(001)//SiC(402) and $TiC(1\bar{1}1)$//$TiB_2(101)$//SiC(220).

Design of Asynchronous System Bus Wrappers based on a Hybrid Ternary Data Encoding Scheme (하이브리드 터너리 데이터 인코딩 기반의 비동기식 시스템 버스 래퍼 설계)

  • This paper presented a hybrid ternary encoding scheme using 3-valued logic. It can adapt to the delay-insensitive(DI) model. We designed an asynchronous wrapper for the hybrid ternary encoding scheme to communicate with various asynchronous encoding schemes. It reduced about 50% of transmission lines and power consumption compared with the conventional 1-of-4 and ternary encoding scheme. The proposed wrappers were designed and simulated using the $0.18-{\mu}m$ standard CMOS technology. As a result, the asynchronous wrapper operated over 2 GHz communicating with a system bus. Moreover, the power dissipation of the system bus adapted the hybrid ternary encoding logic decreases 65%, 43%, and 36% of the dual-rail, 1-of-4, and ternary encoding scheme, respectively. The proposed data encoding scheme and the wrapper circuit can be useful for asynchronous high-speed and low-power asynchronous interface.

Freeze-Thaw Resistance of Alkali Activated Ternary Blended Cement Incorporated with Ferronickel Slag (알칼리 활성화제를 첨가한 페로니켈슬래그 혼입 삼성분계 콘크리트의 동결융해 저항성)

  • The present study assessed the micro structure and durability characteristics of ternary blended cement with different types of alkali activators. Ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBS) and ferronickel slag(FNS) was replaced until 50 % of the weight of cement. In addition, potassuim hydroxide and sodium hydroxide were used for comparing the properties of different type of alkali activator. Ternary blended cement with alkali activators showed higher peak portlandite peak than that of OPC(Ordinary Portlande Cement) and non activated ternary blended cement. Also, there was no new hydration products in ternary blended cement or/and alkali activators. Based on the mercury intrustion porosimetry(MIP) test result, ternary blended cement increased macro pore while alkali activated ternary blended cement modified pore structure and increased microp pore as compared to OPC as control. Combination with alkali activators is desirable to enhance the compressive strength and freeze thaw resistance.

  • An extensive experimental survey on the retention behaviors of phenols in the binary solvent system such as methanol-water, acetonitrile-water and tetrahydrofuran-water as well as the ternary solvent system such as methanol-acetonitrile-water and methanol-tetrahydrofuran-water is presented. A linear equation, which describes the capacity factor as a function of the solvent composition in the mobile phase and is able to predict the retention behaviors of phenols, was obtained. The iso-eluotropic lines for the binary and ternary solvent system are based on the equal strength of the methanol-water solvent which shows an optimum separation of the phenols used. The specific effect of each solute in the binary solvent system appeared to be larger than those in the ternary system.
