Uniaxial tensile test integrated design considering mould-fixture for UHPC

  • Tensile property is one of the excellent properties of ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), and uniaxial tensile test is an important and challenging mechanical performance test of UHPC. Traditional uniaxial tensile tests of concrete materials have inherent defects such as initial eccentricity, which often lead to cracks and failure in non-test zone, and affect the testing accuracy of tensile properties of materials. In this paper, an original integrated design scheme of mould and end fixture is proposed, which achieves seamless matching between the tension end of specimen and the test fixture, and minimizes the cumulative eccentricity caused by the difference in the matching between the tension end of specimen and the local stress concentration at the end. The stress analysis and optimization design are carried out by finite element method. The curve transition in the end of specimen is preferred compared to straight line transition. The rationality of the new integrated design is verified by uniaxial tensile test of strain hardening UHPC, in which the whole stress-strain curve was measured, including the elastic behavior before cracking,strain hardening behavior after cracking and strain softening behavior.

  • The extensive use of composite insulators for transmission lines can ultimately be justified only on long-term qualification tests. The actual load working on the insulator in the field is not static load but cyclic load. So in this paper, we discussed an examination of aging degradation by mechanical performance of composite insulators under static tension load and cyclic tension load. and also described useful approaches for analyzing their long term performance so as to develop reliable composite insulators. The static and cyclic tension load-time test data were examined by Weibull distribution for their capability of presuming long term performance. It was found that cyclic tension loads were more severe than static tension loads. The results also indicate that it may be relevant for an user to select composite insulators on basis of their performance under cyclic tension loads than static tension loads.

LCD 모니터 힌지용 인장 스프링의 피로특성 (Fatigue Characteristics of Tension Spring for LCD Monitor Hinge)

  • The spring is an important mechanical parts to improve the functions of precision machines, automobiles, ships, industrial machines, and IT devices etc.. The hinge mechanism for LCD monitors is very important to support and maintain the proper position of monitor panel, and the tension spring which is a major parts of hinge mechanism plays a significant roll to provide the supporting force positioning the monitor panel. In this paper, an analysis and experiment were carried out to investigate the fatigue characteristics of the tension spring of hinge mechanism, such as hardness test, fatigue test and fractography analysis. As a result of this study the SWPB with heat treatment and shot peening was found to have the optimal design conditions of tension spring for LCD monitor hinge mechanism.

Behaviour of fiber reinforced concrete beams with spliced tension steel reinforcement

  • The aim of the current work is to describe the flexural behaviour of simply supported concrete beams with tension reinforcement spliced at mid-span. The parameters included in the study were the type of the concrete, the splice length and the configuration of the hooked splice. Fifteen beams were cast using an ordinary concrete mix and two fiber reinforced concrete mixes incorporating steel and polypropylene fibers. Each concrete mix was used to cast five beams with continuous, spliced and hooked spliced tension steel bars. A test beam was reinforced on the tension side with two 12 mm bars and the splice length was 20 and 40 times the bar diameter. The hooked bars were spliced along 20 times the bar diameter and provided with 45-degree and 90-degree hooks. The test results in terms of cracking and ultimate loads, cracking patterns, ductility, and failure modes are reported. The results demonstrated the consequences due to short splices and the improvement in the structural behaviour due to the use of hooks and the confinement provided by the steel and polypropylene fibers.

콘크리트의 쪼갬인장 피로실험방법 제안 및 적용성 평가 (Evaluation of Split Tension Fatigue Test Method for Application in Concrete)

  • 지금까지 콘크리트에 대한 피로실험과 연구는 대부분 압축응력, 휨응력을 받는 경우에 대하여 연구를 진행하였으나 실제 교량이나 도로 포장콘크리트 구조물은 이축응력상태의 조합응력을 받게 된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 이러한 콘크리트 구조체가 받게 되는 이축응력 상태를 이상적으로 재현할 수 있는 쪼갬인장 피로실험방법을 제안하고 적용성을 평가 하고자 하였다. 실험은 ${\phi}15{\times}30cm$를 사용한 KS 규정을 응용하여 ${\phi}15{\times}7.5cm$의 시편을 제작하고, 쪼갬인장 피로실험에 적용하기 위한 타당성 검증을 수행하였으며, 이상적 탄성재료인 강재와 고체의 비교를 위하여 모르타르 시편을 제작하여 검증실험을 수행하였다. 또한, 이론적 고찰과 유한요소 해석을 수행하여 이론치와 해석치의 비교 고찰하였으며 정적 강도측정 및 게이지 부착실험을 수행하여 타당성을 입증하고자 하였다. 실험결과, FEA결과, 수평응력과 압축응력의 비는 3.1로 나타나 이론치 3.0과 유사한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 수평응력은 시편의 길이가 30cm일 경우 이론상 3MPa이지만, 본 연구에서는 시편의 길이가 30cm와 5cm일 때 각각 2.98MPa와 2.96MPa로 나타났다. 쪼갬인장 피로실험방법은 유한요소 해석, 정적 강도측정 및 게이지 부착실험모두에서 충분한 타당성을 나타내었으며, 이 방법은 실제 응력 모사, 실험의 간편성, 현장 시편 이용 가능성 등 많은 장점을 가지고 있는 것으로 판단되어 향후 교량이나 도로포장 구조물에 사용되는 콘크리트의 피로거동을 모사하는데 적합한 실험방법으로 사료된다.

Wetting Balance Test를 이용한 솔더의 젖음성 분석 (Wettability Analysis of Solders using Wetting Balance Test)

  • Recently, there has been a continuous researches on solders having sophisticated and improved performance due to demand for high-density and miniaturization of electronics, and development of solder for automotive electronics which can be used in harsh environment. When developing a new solder alloy, there is a wettability of solder on substrate for things to consider, and the wetting balance test is one of the methods for measuring that one. In this paper, the wetting balance test is introduced, and the calculus of the surface tension of solder and the contact angle between solder and substrate using wetting curve obtained is introduced too. In detail, the principle and test method of the wetting balance test, the introduction of the parameters with important meaning in the wetting curve, the method of calculating the contact angle as well as the surface tension of the solder using the shape of the solder meniscus.

인장(引張) 및 압축부재(壓縮部材)와 적층수(積層數)가 플라타너스 집성재(集成材)의 휨성질(性質)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of Tension, Compression Lamination and Number of Lamination on the Flexural Properties of Platanus occidentalis L. Laminated Beam)

  • The aim of this study is to determine the flexural properties(Modulus of Rupture, Modulus of Elasticity) of Platanus occidentalis L. laminated beams fabricated with 1, 3, 5, 8, 15 lamination and Tension, Compression lamination. The results were as follows: 1. MOR increased with increasing number of lamination in 3, 5, 8, 15-beam and Tension lamination beam. MOR of Compression lamination beam was lower than that of 3-beam, MOR of vertical beam not having Tension or compression lamination was lower than that of horizontal beam, but MOR of vertical beam with tension or compression lamination was same or slightly higher than that of horizontal beam. 2. The allowable working stress showed the same tendency. This stress increased with increasing number of lamination. This value of Tension lamination beam was higher than that of compression lamination beam. 3. MOE of all laminated beams was higher than that of solid beam and Tension lamination beam was higher than that of 3-beam. MOE of Tension lamination beam was higher than that of Compression lamination beam. MOE of all vertical beam was higher than that of horizontal beam except for T-2, T-5, C-3. 4. Most beam failures appeared to begin in tension. These tension failures were classified into Splintering tension, Cross-grained tension, Simple tension, Brittle tension. All test beam failures could be classified into three categories. 1) Tension failure 2) Compression failure 3) Horizontal shear failure.

2축 인장을 받는 철근콘크리트의 구성방정식 (Constitutive Law of Reinforced Concrete Subjected to Biaxial Tension)

  • 콘크리트의 응력-변형률 관계 곡선을 도출하기 위하여 총 13개의 철근콘크리트 패널실험체를 이용하여 1축 및 2축 인장실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과를 이용하여 콘크리트의 인장 응력-변형률 관계곡선의 모델을 수식으로 제안하였다. 주요 실험변수로는 철근비와 도입된 2축 하중비가 고려되었다. 또한 초기균열하중을 이용하여 인장-인장 영역에서의 파괴포락선을 제시하였다. 실험결과 콘크리트는 균열 이후에도 인장에 어느 정도 견디는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 본 연구에서 제안한 콘크리트의 응력-변형률 관계 곡선은 철근의 방향과 하중의 방향 혹은 주응력의 방향이 일치하는 경우에 가장 적합할 것으로 판단된다.

고장력 인장봉으로 보강된 RC 보의 휨 거동에 관한 실험적 연구(3) (An Experimental Study on Flexural Behavior of RC Beams Strengthened with Hi-Strength Bars(3))

  • 현재 상용되고 있는 강판 보강법이나 탄소섬유 시트 부착 보강법과는 달리, 고장력 인장봉을 이용한 외부 비부착 방식의 보강법은 설치가 간단하고 시공 시간이 짧은 등의 장점이 있다. 또한 외부 비부착 보강법은 콘크리트 표면처리가 필요 없고 에폭시 등의 접착제를 사용하지 않아 환경에 미치는 영향도 적다. 지난 연구에 이어 본 연구에서는 보강된 RC보에 관한 총 9개의 실대형 시험체를 변수별로 제작하여 여러 변수가 실제 구조물에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 시험체의 주요 변수는 보강재의 크기와 전단 보강근의 간격, 지지 조건이다. 본 논문에서는 보강된 RC 보의 구조적 거동을 무보강 시험체와 비교하여 기술하였다. 실험 결과 고장력 인장봉으로 보강된 RC보는 무보강 시험체와 비교하여 강도와 휨 성능에서 탁월한 효과를 나타내었으며 전단 보강근이 과소 배근된 시험체에서도 고장력 인장봉에 의한 전단 내력 효과를 보였다.

Comparison of the effects of temporomandibular joint and cervical vertebra treatment on pain and functional improvement in persons with tension-type headaches

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of temporomandibular joint and cervical vertebra treatment in persons with tension-type headaches on pain, tenderness, and functional improvement. Design: Three-group pretest-posttest design. Methods: Subjects with tension-type headaches were divided into the temporomandibular joint and cervical vertebra treatment group (n=11), temporomandibular joint treatment group (n=11), and cervical vertebra treatment group (n=11), and pre- and post-evaluation was performed. The temporomandibular joint treatment group underwent compression massage and joint ply of the muscles around the temporomandibular joint. The cervical vertebra group received deep tendon massage and Myofascial Release of the cervical muscles. The temporomandibular joint and cervical vertebra treatment group performed both types of treatment. Treatment was performed for 50 minutes, three times a week for 4 weeks. Measurement tools included the Korean version of the short form-McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ, K), Headache Impact test-6 (HIT-6), Neck Disability Index (NDI), and the Digital Algometer FPX25. Results: The groups showed significant differences in SF-MPQ, HIT-6 test, NDI, and Alogometer FPX25 test scores before and after intervention (p<0.05). The differences between the groups were most significant in the group that received treatment of the temporomandibular joint and cervical vertebra (p<0.05). Conclusions: In this study, the treatment of the temporomandibular joint and cervical vertebra was shown to be effective for improving pain, quality of life, and cervical vertebra in persons with tension-type headaches. This data may be helpful in identifying treatment techniques for tension-type headaches in the future.
