A Diagnosis Case of Structure to Assess Rotor System (회전체의 건전성 평가를 위한 구조물의 진단사례)

  • In this paper, we analyzed the characteristic of the broken section for bolts fastening the generator casing, and according to the frequency analysis, we grasped the characteristic of the excited force, traced the path of the exciting source so that we examined a factor of transient vibration of the generator casing. Even if it appears transient vibration again, we applied spring washer and more tensile bolt to the casing to minimize the fracture. By solving troubles of the generator rotor, we reduced the vibration amplitude to the normal condition. So we obtain much more the reliablility of the generator.

Research on the support of larger broken gateway based on the combined arch theory

  • The excavation broken zones (EBZ) of gateways is a significant factor in determining the stability of man-made opening. The EBZ of 55 gateways with variety geological conditions were measured using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). The results found that the greatly depth of EBZ, the smallest is 1.5 m and the deepest is 3.5 m. Experimental investigations were carried out in the laboratory and in the coal mine fields for applying the combined arch support theory to large EBZ. The studies found that resin bolts with high tensile strength and good bond force could provide high pretension force with bolt extensible anchorage method in the field. Furthermore, the recently invented torque amplifier could greatly improve the bolt pretension force in poor lithology. The FLAC3D numerical simulation found that the main diffusion sphere of pretension force was only in the free segment zone of the surrounding rock. Further analysis found that the initial load-bearing zone thickness of the combined arch structure in large EBZ could be expressed by the free segment length of bolt. The using of high mechanical property bolts and steel with high pretension force will clearly putting forward the bolt length selection rule based on the combined arch support theory.

The Effect of the Resistance of Wedge Frame on the Clamping Force of the Rail Clamp (쐐기프레임의 저항력이 레일클램프의 압착력에 미치는 영향)

  • The damping force of a jaw pad is determined by the displacements of main part when two lockers are locked, after the damping angle of a locker was set up in the wedge type rail damp for a container crane. In this time, of the resistance of wedge frame generates due to several factors, the damping angle of a locker to display the initial clamping force will be changed because of the reduction of displacement of extension bar. This resistance is determined by the eccentric distance between the roller and the wedge, and by the gap between the wedge frame and outer frame. In this study we measured the tensile force of both extension bar through the performance test of the prototype rail damp in order to evaluate the effect of the resistance of wedge frame on the damping force of the wedge type rail clamp.

  • Mattress foundations using geogrids are often used on soil foundations to increase the supporting capability of a mattress-soil foundation system, in which the mattress foundation trasmits a point load applied above to a wider area of the soil foundation underneath. To examine this load dispersion capability of the mattress foundation, model experiments were carried out on lab-floor. Expecially, the effect of the thickness of the mattress and the subgrade modulus of the soil foundation on load dispersion are considered. The load distribution and the tensile force generated on geogrid of the upper part of the mattress are examined in the paper.

Vapor Bubble Nucleation : A Microscopic Phenomenon

  • In this article, vapor bubble nucleation in liquid and the evaporation process of a liquid droplet at its superheat limit were discussed from the viewpoint of molecular clustering (molecular cluster model for bubble nucleation). For the vapor bubble formation, the energy barrier against bubble nucleation was estimated by the molecular interaction due to the London dispersion force. Bubble nucleation by quantum tunneling in liquid helium under negative pressure near the absolute zero temperature and bubble nucleation on cavity free micro heaters were also presented as the homogenous nucleation processes.

  • The research program is directed at studying the behavior and the strength of reinforced concrete slabs subjected to certain combination of punching shear and in-plane tension. Major variables to be investigated are the shear span to depth ratio of reinforced concrete slabs and the degree of the in-plane tensile force which is acting tangent to the slabs. The experimental results are used for understanding of the degree of the interaction between the two loadings, and for developing a new practical design equation.

  • The domain formation phenomena of {{{{ { LiLbO}_{ 3} }}}} crystals was investigated and the method for the periodic domain formation in {{{{ { LiLbO}_{ 3} }}}} single crystals during growth was proposed in this study. The strees-induced domain formation mechanism was proposed and explained. The strong piezoelectric effect of{{{{ { LiLbO}_{ 3} }}}} at elevated temperature would be the direct driving force for the inversion of the tensile component of the internal stresses can inverse the original direction of the spontaneous polarization.

고강도 알루미늄 합금 A7075-T6의 마찰용접성에 관한 연구

  • This study deals with the friction weldability of A7075-T6 having high specific strength. The friction welding conditions used are rotation speed 2000rpm, friction pressure 40MPa, friction time 1.5sec, upset pressure 40~100MPa, upset time 5sec. First, upset length was measured by displacement transducer. The plastic flow in 7075-T6 weld generates convex lens shaped resion by friction and concave lens shaped resion by axial force. Under the condition of upset pressure 85MPa, the friction welds have tensile strength of 552MPa and shear strength of 262MPa.

  • The effects of annealing temperature on the magnetic properties (maximum permeability, coercive force and remanence) and mechanical properties (hardness, tensile strength and elongation at rupture) were analyzed using the nondestructive impulsive magnetic analyzer in a medium carbon cold rolled steel sheet. This nondestructive method was very useful for the analysis of magnetic and mechanical properties of materials. As it was known in the literature, the three distinct processes that indicate the recovery, recrystallization, and grain growth of a metal were measured with the non-destructive analyzer.

  • On SWS 41 Plates jointed by the F11T M 20 high strength bolts the study on stress behavior and safety degree until rupture in static tensile tests were performed. By these results, in case of no clamping force stress concentration was extremed for strain of about 10% higher ratio. Elastic strain occurred to change of test specimens depth by the load and plastic strain occurred to local minute sleep after elastic strain. compared shear stress with tension stress from the fracture load it was showned lower values than the maximum shear stress theory and stress strain energy theory.
