Purpose: To analyze thermal effect on mechanical properties of domestic commercial polymer-based eyewear frames. Methods: In this study, materials of cellulose acetate, polyamide, epoxy, and polyetherimide were exposed to high or low temperature and were mounted on universal test machine (TO-100-IC) for tensile strength test. Elastic behavior, Young's modulus, maximum displacement, and fatigue were tested with various temperature ($-25^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$). Results: As a result, at room temperature, displacements of materials were changed with increasing impact load. At low temperature ($-25^{\circ}C$), maximum displacements of all specimens were decreased but young's modulus were increased. However, at high temperature, maximum displacements of all specimens were increased but young's modulus were decreased. Conclusions: Degree of displacements due to fatigue behavior was increased following direction of PEI, epoxy, polyamide, acetate. We concluded that commercial polymers used in eyewear frames physical properties were changed differently to exposed temperature.
The tensile strength (Pm) . elongation percentage ($\varepsilon$) , elastic modulus (I) , and specific volume (Sv) were calculated from the data of tensile characteristics of By 104 .and Burley 21 tobacco leaves, which were measured over a relative humidity from 60 to 80% at $20\pm2^{\circ}C$.The important results obtained were as follows.(1) Tensile strength(Pm) The "Pm"of By 104 was greater than that of Burley at. In this study, various laboratory tests were conducted to evaluate the effect of the moisture conditions of Jeju basalt on the mechanical properties. Twenty specimens were produced respectively from basalts collected from Sangga-ri and Eoeum-ri in northwestern Jeju. The tests were performed under saturated and dry conditions, and the results of these tests were used to examine the relationship with the physical properties and the mechanical properties depending on the moisture conditions. As a result of analysis with the test results and references, it was found that the uniaxial compressive strength, Brazilian tensile strength and elastic modulus in the saturated condition decrease at a similar ratio as compared with the dry condition. Also, the Brazilian tensile strength and the uniaxial compressive strength were in a linear proportional relationship, and in the moisture conditions, this relationship was not significantly affected.
Recently the world has been suffering from difficulties related to the demand and supply of energy due to the democratic movements sweeping across the Middle East. Consequently, many have turned their attention to never-developed extreme regions such as the polar lands or deep sea, which contain many underground resources. This research investigated the strength and initial elastic modulus values of eternally frozen ground through a uniaxial compression test and indirect tensile test using frozen artificial soil specimens. To ensure accurate test results, a sandymud mixture of standard Jumunjin sand and kaolinite (20% in weight) was used for the specimens in these laboratory tests. Specimen were prepared by varying the water content ratio (7%, 15%, and 20%). Then, the variation in the strength value, depending on the water content, was observed. This research also established three kinds of environments under freezing temperatures of $-5^{\circ}C$, $-10^{\circ}C$, and $-15^{\circ}C$. Then, the variation in the strength value was observed, depending on the freezing environment. In addition, the tests divided the loading rate into 6 phases and observed the variation in the stress-strain ratio, depending on the loading rate. The test data showed that a lower freezing temperature resulted in a larger strength value. An increase in the ice content in the specimen with the increase in the water content ratio influenced the strength value of the specimen. A faster load rate had a greater influence on the uniaxial compression and indirect tensile strengths of a frozen specimen and produced a different strength engineering property through the initial tangential modulus of elasticity. Finally, the long-term strength under a constant water content ratio and freezing temperature was checked by producing stress-strain ratio curves depending on the loading rate.

New compounds were made using various NR/BR blend ratio and oil content to improve mechanical properties of rubber isolator at low temperature. Mechanical properties were investigated as a function of NR/BR blend ratio and oil content. Hardness and tensile modulus generally increased, but tensile strength and elongation at break decreased with increasing BR content. Hardness, tensile modulus and tensile strength decreased, but elongation at break were nearly the same with increasing oil content. The glass transition temperature of NR and BR were found to be $-50^{\circ}C$ and $-90^{\circ}C$ respectively based on the abrupt drops in storage elastic modulus and peak of loss factor. Two distinct transition temperature were observed in NR/BR blend compounds and each transition point was not affected by blend level indicating incompatible nature of NR/BR blend.

According to KS and Standard Specifications for Concrete, the compressive strength of concrete containing recycled aggregate is limited to 27 MPa and thereafter there are little research on concrete containing recycled aggregate of its compressive strength of greater than 27 MPa. Therefore, to expand the applicability of concrete recycled coarse aggregate(RCA), this paper concerns the mechanical properties of concrete containing RCA with compressive strength ranging from 30 to 60 MPa. The experimental parameters were water-cement ratio and replacement ratio of RCA. Water-cement ratio(w/c) was 0.36, 0.46 and 0.53, and replacement ratio of RCA was 30, 50, 70 and 100%. The experimental results were discussed about compressive strength, elastic modulus, split tensile strength and modulus of rupture. Test results of elastic modulus were compared to the design code predictions. Experimental elastic modulus for concrete with w/c=0.53 decreased by greater than 10% compared with that for concrete with w/c=0.36. The design code predictions for elastic modulus overestimated the experimental results. Whereas, the design code predictions for modulus of rupture underestimated the measured values.

An electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) system for measuring tensile properties under micro-tensile testing has been developed. The system consists of an optical system and an image processing system. In the optical system, optical components for measurement of in-plane deformation are arranged on the path of He-Ne laser. In the image processing system, the window-based program for acquiring speckle pattern interferometric image was developed and deformation in a small specimen is continuously evaluated during the test. Using this system, tensile strain of copper foil was measured during tensile testing. Tensile specimen had the thickness and width of 22 and 500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. Tensile properties, including the elastic modulus, yielding strength and tensile strength, of the copper were evaluated and also plastic exponent and coefficient in the Ramberg-Osgood relationship were evaluated from the stress-strain curve.
This study was performed to evaluate the engineering properties of permeable polymer concrete with fillers and unsaturated polyester resin. The following conclusions were drawn. 1. The highest strength was achieved by stone dust filled permeable polymer concrete, it was increased 17% by compressive, 148% by tensile and 188% by bending strength than that of the normal cement concrete, respectively. 2. The static modulus of elasticity was in the range of $1.17{\times}10^5{\sim}1.32{\times}10^5kg/cm^2$, which was approximately 53~56% of that of the normal cement concrete. Stone dust filled permeable polymer concrete was showed relatively higher elastic modulus. The poisson's number of permeable polymer concrete was less than that of the normal cement concrete. 3. The dynamic modulus of elasticity was in the range of $1.3{\times}10^5{\sim}1.5{\times}10^5kg/cm^2$, which was approximately less compared to that of the normal cement concrete. Stone dust filled permeable polymer concrete was showed higher dynamic modulus. The dynamic modulus of elasticity were increased approximately 10~13% than that of the static modulus. 4. The water permeability was in the range of $3.076{\sim}4.390{\ell}/cm^2/h$, and it was largely dependent upon the mix design. These concrete can be used to the structures which need water permeability. 5. The compressive strength, tensile strength, bending strength and elastic modulus were largely showed with the decrease of water permeability.

The aims of this study was to determine the mechanical properties of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under direct tensile loading, and also to insestigate the mechanism fiber reinforcement in order to improve the possible applications of steel-fiber reinforced concrete. In this study the major variables of experimental investigation were fiber conntents, and the lengths and diameters of fibers. The major results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. The strength, elastic modulus and energy absorption capability of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under direct tensile loading were improved as increasing of fiber contents. 2. The direct tensile strength of steel-fiber reinforced concrete was not influenced by the lengths of fiber, but was decreased as increasing of fiber diameters. 3. The direct tensile strength of steel-fiber reinforced concrete was not influenced by the fiber aspect-ratio, but this was because the fiber contents were below the critical value of fiber content. 4. The correlation of direct tensile strength and combined parameter, Vf l/d, was not good. 5. Mutiple cracking and post-crack resistance were investigated at stress-strain curves in direct tensile test. 6. The effect of fiber reinforcement can be influenced by fiber orientation and the bond strength between fiber and matrix. 7. The improvement of mechanical properties of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under direct tensile loading can be theoretically explained by the concept of composite materials.

In order to develop stretchable substrate technology for stretchable devices, locally stiffness-variant stretchable substrates were processed with two polydimethylsiloxane elastomers of different stiffnesses and their deformation behavior was characterized. Low-stiffness substrate matrix and embedded high-stiffness island of the stretchable substrate were formed by using Dragon Skin 10 of the elastic modulus of 0.09 MPa and Sylgard 184 of the elastic modulus of 2.15 MPa, respectively. A stretchable substrate was fabricated to a configuration of 6.5 cm length, 0.4 cm thickness, and 2.5 cm width. The elastic modulus of a stretchable substrate was increased from 0.09 MPa to 0.13~0.33 MPa by embedding a Sylgard 184 island of 1 cm width and 1~6 cm length into the center part of the Dragon Skin 10 substrate matrix. The elastic modulus of a stretchable substrate was improved to 0.16~0.2 MPa by embedding a Sylgard 184 island of 4 cm length and 0.5~1.5 cm width and to 0.1421~0.154 MPa by embedding a Sylgard 184 island of 2 cm length and 0.5~1.5 cm width. With increasing the tensile strain of a stretchable substrate, deformation restriction of the locally stiffness-variant Sylgard 184 island was further enhanced due to substantial increase in the strength difference between Sylgard 184 and Dragon 10 at large strain.
