In this study, surface modification of wood powder by atmospheric pressure plasma treatment was investigated. The composites were manufactured using wood powder and polypropylene(wood powder : PP = 55 wt% : 45 wt%). Atmospheric pressure plasma was treated as condition of 3KV, $17{\pm}1$KHz, 2 g/min. Helium was used as carrier gas and monomer such as hexamethyl-disiloxane(HMDSO) was used to modify surface property by plasma polymerization. The tensile strength of untreated waste wood powder(W3) and homogeneous wood powder(H3) were about 18.5 MPa, 21.5 MPa while the tensile strength of plasma treated waste wood powder(PW3) and homogeneous wood powder(PH3) were about 21.2 MPa, 23.4 MPa, respectively. And tensile strength of W3 and H3 were improved by 14.6% and 8.8%, respectively. From the results for mechanical property, morphological analysis, we obtained improved interfacial bonding of polypropylene and wood powder modified by plasma treatment.

By using shear mixing and ultrasonication, we fabricated specimens of well-dispersed multi-walled carbon nanotube composites. To confirm the proper dispersion of the filler, we used scanning electron microscopy images for quantitative evaluation and a tensile test for qualitative assessment. Furthermore, the coefficients of thermal expansion of several specimens having different filler contents were calculated from the measured thermal strains and temperatures of the specimens. Based on the microscopy images of the well-dispersed fillers and the small deviations in the measurements of the tensile strength and stiffness, we confirmed the proper dispersion of nanotubes in the epoxy. As the filler contents were increased, the values of tensile strength increased from 58.33 to 68.81 MPa, and those of stiffness increased from 2.93 to 3.27 GPa. At the same time, the coefficients of thermal expansion decreased. This implies better thermal stability of the specimen.
Natural fiber/natural rubber composites were fabricated by uniformly compounding natural rubber and cellulose- based natural fiber kenaf and then by compression molding. The effect of kenaf fiber content on their vulcanization behavior, hardness, tensile properties, tear strength and static and dynamic properties was investigated. The contents of kenaf fiber in the composites were 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 phr, compared to natural rubber and additives. The result indicated that various properties of natural rubber depended on the kenaf fiber content. With increasing kenaf fiber content, the torque for vulcanization of natural rubber was increased whereas the vulcanization time was reduced as well. The hardness, tensile modulus and tear strength of kenaf/natural rubber composites were gradually decreased with the fiber content whereas the tensile strength and elongation at break were decreased. Also, with increasing the kenaf fiber content the dynamic property of natural rubber was changed more greatly than the static property. The loss factor, which is closely related with the damping or absorption of the energy given to natural rubber, was proportionally increased with the fiber content.

In this study, fractured surface morphology and mechanical properties of Ni-Cr-Mo alloys with various contents of Mo for dental material use have been evaluated by mechanical test. The alloys used were Ni-13Cr-xMo alloys with Mo contents of 4, 6, 8, and 10 wt.%, prepared by using a vacuum arc-melting furnace. Ni-13Cr-xMo alloys were used for mechanical test without heat treatment. The phase and microstructure of alloys using an X-ray diffraction (XRD) and optical microscopy (OM) were evaluated. To examine the mechanical properties of alloys according to microstructure changes, the tensile test and the hardness test were carried out using tensile tester. To understand the mechanism of Mo addition to Ni-Cr alloy on mechanical property, the morphology and fractured surfaces of alloys were investigated by field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM). As a result, 79Ni-13Cr-8Mo alloy was verified that the tensile strength and the hardness were better than others. Varying Mo content, the changes of microstructures of alloys were identified by OM and SEM and that of 79Ni-13Cr-8Mo alloy was proved fabricated well. Microstructures of alloys were changed depending on Mo content ratio. It has been observed that 8% alloy had the most suitable mechanical property for dental alloy.

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of recycled PET (RPET) fiber made from waste PET bottles to examine application on concrete member. To evaluate the reinforcement effect of RPET fiber in concrete member, experimental tests were performed, such as mechanical property tests (compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and splitting tensile strength) and drying shrinkage test. In mechanical property tests, compressive strength and modulus of elasticity in concrete mixed with RPET fiber gradually decreased, but splitting tensile strength gradually increased as volume fraction of fiber increased. In drying shrinkage test, free drying shrinkage increased. In restrained case, in contrast, crack occurrence was delayed because of tensile resistance increase by RPET fiber. The comparison of RPET and PP fiber added concrete specimen's properties showed that two materials had similar properties. In conclusion, RPET fiber is an alternative material of PP fiber, even finer for its excellence in eco-friendliness due to the recycling of waste PET bottles and its possible contribution to the pollution declination.

As a considerable, experimental approach, an autocarriage type of $CO_2$ welding machine and a MIG(metal inert gas) welding robot in the inert gas atmosphere were utilized in order to realize Al 5083 welding to hull and relevant components of green leisure ships. This study aims at investigating the effect of welding conditions(current, voltage, welding speed, etc.) on thermal deformation that occurs as welding operation and tensile characteristics after welding, by using Al 5083, nonferrous material, applied to manufacturing of eco-environmental leisure ships. With respect to welding condition to minimize the thermal deformation, 150 A and 16 V at the wire-feed rate of 6 mm/sec were acquired in the process of welding Al 5083 through an auto carriage type of $CO_2$ welding feeder. As to tensile characteristics of Al 5083 welding through a MIG welding robot, most of tensile specimens showed the fracture behavior on HAZ(heat affected zone) located at the area joined with weld metal, except for some cases. Especially, for the case of the Al specimen with 5 mm thickness, 284.62 MPa of tensile strength and 11.41 % of elongation were obtained as an actual allowable tensile stress-strain value. Mostly, after acquiring the optimum welding condition, the relevant welding data and technical requirements might be provided for actual welding operation site and welding procedure specification (WPS).

The purpose of this study were to evaluate the physical properties and dyeability of cellulase and alkali(NaOH, KOH) treated ramie/man-made fiber mixture fabrics. The mixture fabrics were plain weave made by rayon and polyester fiber as warp yarn, and ramie as weft yarn. The crease resistance, drape, tensile strength, and water absorbancy were measured for test fabrics. The K/S value of dyed fabrics were calculated using color difference meter. Also colorfastness to washing and sunlight of dyed fabrics were evaluated. The results obtained from this study were as follows: Thickness and weight per unit area of alkali treated two mixture fabrics(rayon/ramie, polyester/ramie) increased compared to those of untreated fabrics, but cellulase treated fabrics did not changed a little. And alkali treated rayon/ramie mixture fabrics showed more change than polyester/ramie mixture fabrics on the thickness and weight. Tensile strength and water absorbancy of cellulase treated fabrics decreased compared to those of untreated, but crease resistance increased. Crease resistance, tensile strength(warp direction), water absorbancy and drape of NaOH treated rayon/ramie mixture fabrics decreased compared to those of untreated, but tensile strength(weft direction) increased. Water absorbancy and drape of NaOH treated polyester/ramie mixture fabrics decreased compared to those of untreated, but crease resistance and tensile strength(weft direction) increased. Tensile strength of KOH treated two mixture fabrics increased compared to that of untreated, but water absorbancy and drape decreased. Total hand of cellulase and alkali treated rayon/ramie mixture fabrics was improved compared to untreated. Dyeability of treated mixture fabrics was increased compared to untreated.
In this study, the effect of coating thickness($20{\mu}m$ and $30{\mu}m$) on microstructure and tensile properties in Yb:YAG disk laser welds of Al-Si-coated boron steel (1.2mmt) was investigated. In the case of as welds, the quantity of ferrite was found to be higher in base metal than that in HAZ (Heat Affected Zone) and fusion zone, indicating, fracture occurrs in base metal, and the fracture position is unrelated to the coating thickness. Furthermore, yield strength, tensile strength of base metal and welded specimens showed similar behavior whereas elongation was decreased. On the other hand, base metal and HAZ showed existence of martensite after heat treatment, the fusion zone indicated the presence of full ferrite or austenite and ferrite during heat treatment ($900^{\circ}C$, 5min), After water cooling, austenite was transformed to martensite, and the quantity of ferrite in fusion zone was higher as compared with in base metal, resulting in sharply decrease of yield strength, tensile strength and elongation, which leads to fracture occured at fusion zone. In particular, results showed that because the concentration of Al was higher in 30um coating layer specimen than that of 20um coating specimen, after heat treatment, producing a higher quantity of ferrite was higher after heat treatment in the fusion zone; howevers, it leads to a lower tensile property.
The following results were obtained, microstructures and tensile properties in arc brazed joints of DP(dual phase) steel using Cu-5.3wt%Sn insert metal was investigated as function of brazing current. 1) The Fusion Zone was composed of ${\alpha}Fe+{\gamma}Cu$ and Cu23Sn2. The reason for the formation of these solid solutions. Despite, Fe & Cu were impossible to solid solution at room temperature. It's melting & reaction to something of insert metal & Base Metal (DP Steel) by Arc. Brazing Process has faster cooling rate then Cast Process, Supersaturated solid solution at room temperature. 2) The increase Hardness of Fusion Zone was directly proportional to the rise of welding current. Because, ${\alpha}Fe+{\gamma}Cu$ phase (higher hardness than the Cu23Sn2.(104.1Hv < 271.9Hv)) Volume fraction was Growth, due to increasing the amount of base metal melting by High current. 3) The results of tensile shear test by Brazing, All specimens happen to fracture in Fusion Zone. On the other hand, when Brazing Current increasing tend to rise tensile load. but it was very small, about 26-30% of the base metal. 4) The result of fracture analysis, The crack initiate at Triple Point for meet to Upper B.M/Under B.M/Fusion Zone. This Crack propagated to Fusion zone. So ruptured by tensile strength. The Reason to in the fusion zone fracture, Fusion zone by Brazing of hardness (strength) was very lower then the base metal (DP steel). In addition the Fusion Zone's thickness in triple point was thin than the base metal's thickness in triple point.

This paper introduces a newly developed high speed material testing apparatus for tensile tests at the strain rate up to 500/sec. The tensile properties of sheet metals are indispensable for the accurate crashworthiness analysis of auto-bodies since the local strain rate reaches to 500/sec in the car crash. An appropriate experimental method has to be developed to acquire the tensile properties at the intermediate strain rate ranged from 0.003/sec to 200/sec. Tensile tests of various different steel sheets for an auto-body were perform ed to obtain the dynamic properties with respect to the strain rate. The dimensions of specimens that can provide the reasonable results were determined by the finite element analysis. A special jig fixture of a load cell is designed to reduce the load ringing phenomenon induced by unstable stress propagation at the high strain rate. Stress-strain curves were acquired for each steel sheet from the dynamic tensile test and utilized to obtain the relationship of the stress to the strain rate.
