Fine grained AZ31 and AZ61 magnesium alloys produced by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) were tested for investigating tensile and fatigue properties, including microstructure, monotonic tensile flow, fatigue life and crack growth rate. For the two alloys, the yield stress of the ECAPed sample was lower than that of the unECAPed (=as received) sample, because of the fact that the softening effect due to texture anisotropy overwhelmed the strengthening effect due to grain refinement. Grain refinement of the AZ31 and AZ61 alloys through ECAP was found not to be significantly effective in increasing fatigue strength.

Spot welding which use the main process for side block production of stainless steel railway vehicle is legged behind in laser welding about a quality and productivity. Although the laser welding has many potential advantages such as low heat input and aspect ratio of weld bead, its application to a new structural component still is required many engineering data including mechanical properties such as tensile, fatigue strength, etc on. Therefore, experimental analysis was carried out to understand the fatigue phenomena of different thickness stainless steel overlap joining panels by Nd:YAG laser welding. The fatigue life curves were obtained through fatigue tests with the various levels of applied load. The fatigue life is related with the parameters such as gap size and penetration depth through experiment. As the results, tensile strength and fatigue life were proportional in heat input level and gap was identified the major factor for fatigue life. Also we could know that deferent a-ferrite content at HAZ depend on welding heat input was important factor to determine a formation of initial crack and total fatigue life cycle.
Welding structures are designed to endure its expected life. The most important factors are life. Especially on welded structure, fatigue strength is critical. So this study performed a research on Box and T shape weldment specimen to examine the influence of welding type. In this experiment, the results indicate Box shape was available in more than T shape. Fatigue tests were performed to evaluate the fatigue strength of the both as-welded and statically pre-loaded specimens by 3 point bending load. Fatigue life can be improved by using Ultrasonic Impact Treatment(UIT) effect. Ultrasonic Impact Treatment(UIT) is excellent for eliminating the tensile residual stresses and generating compressive residual stresses which elevate fatigue strength of welded structures. Also, this shows that welding part has better fatigue life and welding was performed well. In this study, to evaluate the Ultrasonic Impact Treatment(UIT) effect, for welding structure, the experiment was conducted at various levels of stress range between 100MPa and 500MPa. From the test results, it was indicated that fatigue performance was improving by Ultrasonic Impact Treatment(UIT)
It is well known that fatigue failures occur on welded structures in industrial application due to repetitive load force. In order to decrease the incidence of fatigue failure, we analyzed the mechanical properties based on structural aspects in rolled steel(SS 400) welded onto stainless steel (STS 304) by the MIG welding method as well as the structure of rolled steel welded onto itself. We compared the hardness, tensile and fatigue properties with two types of samples which had no defects on the welding parts as observed by X-ray topographic analysis. It was found that the tensile and fatigue strength levels of SS 400 welded onto STS 304 by the MIG welding method were higher than those of STS 304 welded onto itself.

This study was carried out to examine the influences of fatigue and perspiration on the deterioration of chrome leather for shoes. The samples were treated with acidic and alkaline artificial perspirations and applied cyclic tensile stress, and the elastic recovery from fatigue strain, tensile strength and elongation, stiffness etc. by regions and directions were determined. The physical properties generally indicate considerable difference by regions and directions due to the thickness, entangling state, and arrangement direction of fiber buldles within the leather. By the treatment of artificial perspirations, the length, weight, strength, elastic recovery from fatigue of the lether are decreased and the thicknes, elongation, and stiffness are increased; and their extents by the alkaline perspiration are higher than those by the acidic one. The elastic recovery from fatigue of samples are decreased with increasing fatigue cylcle; and indicate regressive relations against the logarithm of the elapsed time, and the means of regression coefficients are 2.73 > 2.55 > 2.22 for samples treated by the acidic perspiration, untreated, and treated by the alkaline perspiration, respectively. The tensile strength is decreased and elogation is increased by fatigue, but the changes are diminished likely due to a rearrangment of fiber bundles with increasing fatigue cycle. And the samples become a little flexible immediately after fatigue; but stiffen again with elastic recovery from fatigue strain, consequently for some cases their stiffness after recovery are rather greater than those before fatigre.
Al6061 alloy reinforced with 15 volume% of Saffil fibers was fabricated by squeeze infiltration method. Uniform distribution of reinforcements and good bondings between reinforcements and matrix alloy were found in the microstructure of composites. Comparing with A16061 matrix alloy, tensile strength and elastic modulus of $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$/Al composites were increased up to 26% and 31%, respectively. Cyclic deformation and fatigue behavior of $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$/Al metal matrix composites were studied. The specimens were cycled using tension-tension(R=0.1) loading and under load controlled fatigue test. Cyclic stress-displacement curve through fatigue test was obtained. Fatigue strength of $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$/Al composites was about 200 MPa, i.e.0.55 of applied stress level(q). During fatigue test, $Al_{2}$O$_{3}$/Al composites displayed cyclic hardening at all applied stress levels. The most of resultant displacement due to permanent plastic deformation occurred in less than the first 5% of fatigue life. Displacement-to-failure of the fatigue test was smaller than that of the tensile test because of accumulative damage by cumulative plastic deformation.
