단일모드 광섬유의 간섭계 센서를 이용한 온도측정 (Temperature Measurement Using Single-Mode Fiber Interferometric Sensor)

  • 본 연구에서는 단일모드 광섬유에서의 온도에 의한 위상변조 현상을 분석하고 단일모드 광섬유 간섭계를 이용한 온도센서를 설계. 제작하여 그 온도특성을 조사하였다. 설계한 fiber-optic온도센서는 Mach-Zehnder 간섭계를 이용한 위상감지형 고감도 센서로서 온도변화는 간섭무의의 이동으로써 측정되어졌다. 간섭계에 의한 측정에서 중요한 문제중의 하나는 온도분만 아니라 모든 피측정 물리량의 변화방향에 따른 간섭무의의 이동갯수와 이동방향을 동시에 측정하는 것이다. 이를 위해 다중모드 광섬유를 이용한 배열 검출기를 제작하여 매우 간편하게 간섭무늬의 이동갯수와 이동방향을 측정하였다.

감온 페라이트를 이용한 비접촉 온도측정시스템의 감도특성 (Sensitivity of non-contact Temperature Measurement Using Temperature Sensitive Ferrite)

  • 비접촉 온도측정 시스템을 구현하기 위하여 감온페라이트를 이용하여 제작한 인던턴스소자와 캐피시터를 접속하여 LC공진형 센서를 구성하고, 비접촉 온도계측성능에 대하여 조사하였고, 송수신기 사이의 거리에 대한 측정감도에 대하여 검토하였다. 감온 페라이트가 가지는 투자율의 온도의존성에 의해서 제작한 센서의 인덕턴스와 공진주파수가 변화함을 알 수 있었고, 공진주파수의 변화를 비접촉으로 검출함으로써 비접촉으로 온도를 검출할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 비접촉 측정 감도는 송 $.$수신기 사이 거리의 6승에 비례하는 감소하는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Practical Model for Predicting Beta Transus Temperature of Titanium Alloys

  • The ${\beta}$-transus temperature in titanium alloys plays an important role in the design of thermo-mechanical treatments. It primarily depends on the chemical composition of the alloy and the relationship between them is non-linear and complex. Considering these relationships is difficult using mathematical equations. A feed-forward neural-network model with a back-propagation algorithm was developed to simulate the relationship between the ${\beta}$-transus temperature of titanium alloys, and the alloying elements. The input parameters to the model consisted of the nine alloying elements (i.e., Al, Cr, Fe, Mo, Sn, Si, V, Zr, and O), whereas the model output is the ${\beta}$-transus temperature. The model developed was then used to predict the ${\beta}$-transus temperature for different elemental combinations. Sensitivity analysis was performed on a trained neural-network model to study the effect of alloying elements on the ${\beta}$-transus temperature, keeping other elements constant. Very good performance of the model was achieved with previously unseen experimental data. Some explanation of the predicted results from the metallurgical point of view is given. The graphical-user-interface developed for the model should be very useful to researchers and in industry for designing the thermo-mechanical treatment of titanium alloys.

Sensitivity analysis and Taguchi application in vacuum membrane distillation

  • In this work, desalination experiments were performed on vacuum membrane distillation (VMD). Process parameters such as feed flow rate, vacuum degree on permeate side, feed bulk temperature and feed salt concentration were optimized using sensitivity analysis and Taguchi method. The optimum values of process parameters were found to be 2 lpm of feed flow rate, $60^{\circ}C$ of feed bulk temperature, 5.5 kPa of permeate-side pressure and 5000 ppm of salt concentration. The permeate flux at these conditions was obtained as $26.6kg/m^2{\cdot}hr$. The rejection of salt in permeate was found to be 99.7%. The percent contribution of various process parameters using ANOVA results indicated that the most important parameter is feed bulk temperature with its contribution of 95%. The ANOVA results indicate that the percent contribution of permeate pressure gets increased to 5.384% in the range of 2 to 7 kPa as compared to 0.045% in the range of 5.5 to 7 kPa.

Formation of nickel oxide thin film and analysis of its electrical properties

  • Ni oxide thin films with thermal sensitivity superior to Pt and Ni thin films were formed through annealing treatment after Ni thin films were deposited by a r.f. magnetron sputtering method. Resistivity values of Ni oxide thin films were in the range of $10.5{\mu}{\Omega}cm$ to $2.84{\times}10^{4}{\mu}{\Omega}cm$ according to the degree of Ni oxidation. Also temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR) values of Ni oxide thin films depended on the degree of Ni oxidation from 2,188 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ to 5,630 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ in the temperature range of $0{\sim}150^{\circ}C$. Because of the high linear TCR and resistivity characteristics, Ni oxide thin films exhibit much higher sensitivity to flow and temperature changes than pure Ni thin films and Pt thin films.

  • Tin dioxide($_SnO2$) thin films were deposited on alumina substrate by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) as a function of temperature and time. Thin films were fabricated from di-n-butyltin diacetate as a precursor and oxygen as an oxidation. The microstructure of deposited films was characterized by X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM). The thickness was linearly increased with deposition time and $SnO_2$structure was found from $375^{\circ}C$ for the deposition time of 32 min. The maximum sensitivity to 500ppm CO gas was observed for the specimens deposited at $375^{\circ}C$ for 2 min at the operating temperature of $350^{\circ}C$. Gas sensitivity to CO increased with decreasing the film thickness. The sensing properties of response time, recovery and sensitivity of CO were changed with variations of substrate temperature and time.

Influence of Corrosion Potential and Current Density on Polarization Curve Variations using Polycarbonate[III]

  • In this study, experiments were carried out to measure the variations in the corrosion potential and current density of polarization curves using polycarbonate. The results were particularly examined to identify the influences affecting the corrosion potential including various conditions such as temperature, pH, catalytic enzyme, and salt. The lines representing the active anodic dissolution were only slightly shifted in the potential direction by temperature, pH, enzyme, and salt. The tafel slope for the anodic dissolution was determined based on the polarization effect with various conditions. The slope of the polarization curves describing the active-to-passive transition region were noticeably shifted in direction. Also, from the variation in the conditions, the optimum conditions were established for the most rapid transformation, including temperature, pH, corrosion rate, and resistance of corrosion potential. The second anodic current density peak and maximum passive current density were designated as the critical corrosion sensitivity(Ir/If). The value of Ir/If was then used in measuring the extent of the critical corrosion sensitivity of the polycarbonate. The potentiodynamic parameters of the corrosion were obtained using a Tafel plot.

  • 멀티포트 하이브리드 로켓 고체연료 그레인의 열민감도에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 고온의 비반응 유동의 포트를 통과하며 연료 그레인으로 열전달 시, 연료 그레인 내부의 온도 분포 변화를 비정상 열해석을 통해 계산하였다. 계산은 총 9개의 포트 반경에서 수행되었으며, 연료 내부 온도가 민감하게 거동하는 임계 포트 반경을 결정하였다. 열에 민감하게 반응하는 임계 포트반경 이후는 고체 폴리머 연료의 구조상의 취약점이 발생할 것으로 판단되므로, 임계 포트반경은 설계 시 중요한 고려대상으로 사용될 것으로 예상된다.

전자 시스템 신뢰도 예측을 위한 217PlusTM 부품모형의 민감도 분석 (Sensitivity Analysis of the 217PlusTM Component Models for Reliability Prediction of Electronic Systems)

  • MIL-HDBK-217 has played a pivotal role in reliability prediction of electronic equipments for more than 30 years. Recently, RIAC developed a new methodology $217Plus^{TM}$which officially replaces MIL-HDBK-217. Sensitivity analysis of the 217Plus component models to various parameters has been performed and meaningful observations have been drawn in this study. We first briefly reviewed the $217Plus^{TM}$ methodolog and compared it with the conventional model, MIL-HDBK-217. We then performed sensitivity analysis $217Plus^{TM}$ component models to various parameters. Based on the six parameters and an orthogonal array selected, we have performed indepth analyses concerning parameter effects on the model. Our result indicates that, among various parameters, operating temperature and temperature rise during operation have the most significant impacts on the life of a component, and thus a design robust to high temperature is the most importantly required. Next, year of manufacture, duty cycle, and voltage stress are weaker but may be significant when they are in heavy load conditions. Although our study is restricted to a specific type of diodes, the results are still valid to other cases. The results in this study not only figure out the behavior of the predicted failure rate as a function of parameters but provide meaningful guidelines for practical applications.

LiBr-$H_2O$계 흡수식냉동기의 부식에 미치는 온도의 영향 (The Effect of Temperature on Corrosion of Absorption Refrigeration Systems Using LiBr-$H_2O$ Working Fluids)

  • This paper was studied on the effect of temperature on corrosion of absorption refrigeration systems using LiBr-$H_2O$ working fluids. In the fresh water and 62 %lithium bromide solution at $70^{\circ}C$, polarization test of SS 400, Cu(Cl220T-OL) and Ni-Al bronze was carried out. And Polarization behavior, polarization resistance characteristics, corrosion rate(mmpy) and corrosion sensitivity of materials forming absorption refrigeration systems was considered. The main results are as following: As the experimental temperature increase, the change of corrosion rate of Ni-Al bronze become duller than SS 400 and Cu in 62 % lithium bromide solution. Open circuit potential of SS 400 is less noble than that of Cu and Ni-Al bronze in fresh water, but that becomes noble than Cu and Ni-Al bronze in 62 % lithium bromide solution. The corrosion sensitivity of Ni-Al bronze was controlled than that of Cu and SS 400 in 62% LiBr solution.
